Corky Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 Very poor performance by Liverpool. They've got to up their game if they are to make a serious challenge to win the European Cup (it's not the Champions League). In the Uefa Cup, I wouldn't fancy playing Standard Liege. They look a very promising team.
Fox You Forest Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 Same old shit. An average player helped an average team win an average match against average opposition.
Daggers Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 I didn't watch, nor am interested in, this match...but does anybody why lots of people with Home Counties accents have plagued 5Live and Sky Sports tonight with lots of (let's not beat around the bush) Scouse-like whinging? Is a precursor to supporting this team the ability to moan like **** about anything that happens? Ever? They make our lot seem almost reasonable.
FilboFox Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 Having lived in Belgium for 15 years and having sort of supported Standard whilst there just cause they were the closest team, I can honestly say I am amazed at their resurgence last year... from nowhere they went (I think) unbeaten in the Jupiler League last year and have started this year really well too! The standard of football in Belgium is very poor compared to that of most of the top leagues so for Standard to be matching Liverpool like this is a BIG shock... that said, I did think going into this game that if Liverpool didn't kill them off quickly, an even bigger shock could have been on the cards.
Raj Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Liverpool fans are the biggest inbreds ever. Even worse than Leicester fans. And they have more"fans' outside Lpool than enyone...even Manu. FACTOID!
Father Ted Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 What's worse is the way we conceded a last minute goal so when that finished I thought I would watch Liverpool get 'tortured'. They had one shot with 3 minutes to go in extra time and scored!

purpleronnie Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I thought the liege fans were brilliant last night. And Liege should have gone through.
Phube Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I still fing it funny/amazing that there are 21 year olds who will never remember Liverpool winning the league!!

TrickyTrev Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I like Rafa a lot but his persistance with Dirk Kuyt is bemusing. I know the lad scored last night but he had an absaloute stinker, for a team that usually only employs 4 attacking players you can't afford for one of them to essentially be in the side ofr their work rate. Gerrard is about 10% fit as well.
lavrentis Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Do Liverpool actually have any tactics, I was struggling to see them last night, or was it just to get a flukey late goal.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Liverpool have already shown their spawny side this season. They've manage six points in the Prem when one would've been more appropriate, and squirmed through to the Champs League proper thanks to a late, late goal. They underestimated Standard, and with no good reason. I expect to see players like Stefan Defour and Marouane Fellaini in top European competition reasonably soon.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Defour is rather tasty on Football Manager . He's better in real life than on computer games.

Tevez Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 blah blah blah liverpool are shit, liverpool average club.

Lovejoy Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 blah blah blah liverpool are shit, liverpool average club. How many champs leagues they won? Hole in one Carlos !
Tommeh Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Liverpool these days are a joke. Until they get rid of Benitez it'll be 4th place year in year out, maybe a carling cup final. Some of his signings over the years have been laughable. With the exception of Torres and Mascerano, nearly £100m of rubbish. And now their signing Albert Riera
