Hacettepe 2 - 1 Fenerbahce

As predicted, Fenerbahce coach Aragones was forced to field young Can and Yasin, as Fenerbahce was missing several first-team players due to injury including Edu de Souza, Deivid de Souza, Tümer Metin, Emre Belözoglu and Selcuk Sahin.

Captain Alex de Souza made the canaries take the lead in Ankara in the first half of the game. However, Hacettepe replied back and scored twice. Although the canaries pushed for an equaliser after the second goal, the pressure failed to produce a reward. Goalkeeper Volkan Demirel was sent off, and Yasin Cakmak took the gloves as the canaries lost the game away to Hacettespor thanks to goals from Ibrahim and Can Arat (own goal).

I'm not sure.

But I know one thing, It is a bloody great league.

Numancia beat Barca one week,

& score three at the Bernabeau (sp?) the week after.

Crazy.

I know.... Madness.

There will be even bigger shocks in La Liga as the season goes on....

Just watching Juve v Udinese at the moment, decent game.

Missus is pulling her hair out at Juve though....

:giggle:

EDIT: Not any more Amauri just scored 1-0 Juve, Sissoko is playing very well might I add.

How's Poulsen getting along in Juve? According to the media, he's doing quite well so far?

Poulsen has been top notch since his arrival.

A player Juve needed.

Juve may well upset a few in the league they have the squad to do it.

I would expect them to win there CL games at home too.

A few tough games though.

Sampdoria lost 2-0 away to Lazio. Thought we had a chance to snatch something here, but Lazio were the better team and the attention now focuses on the UEFA Cup 1st Leg against Kaunas.

Come on Sampa!

Good to hear. I assumed he'd be good in an Italian side. And I expect Juve to be challenging for a top 4 place at least this year

(even though I'll never sympathise with a club that has cheated and got off quite lightly)

Got off quite lightly??

Relegation plus minus points and a huge fine?

The scandal was terrible, That is true, but there are so many clubs that have many secrets, the EPL is no exception, the FA have a lot of hidden truths.

Anyway back to Poulsen, he would do well in any league to be fair, he is one of those players, he does not get enough praise.

Yeah, but if someone like Man Utd pulled half the tricks they've done, you'd be wanting them planning trips to Forest Green, not Forest surely- its not exactly been a long term problem for them, has it?

The fine was never going to be an issue for a club their size, and the point-deduction mattered little as they still managed to keep a squad that was miles stronger than any of their competitors. IMO they should have been stripped of their league license. Simple as. And I also think they should all have been punished that way. But that's just my opinion.

Poulsen did reasonably at Sevilla, but had a mixed time as far as I've been informed. In the games I watched, he often didn't have the same impact he has for the national team or the impact he had at Schalke. I agree that he's slightly underrated, but that being said, he's been lucky to have gotten off lightly in the past when he was involved in controversial incidents (quite a few).

Fair enough if that is your opinion, fine.

It is a shame that a few corrupt businessmen (so they call themselves) ruin the game for the real fans and the players, the players thought they had won the title through hard work, to find out that they were part of a betting ring which involved throwing matches and decisions, must have been very difficult to take.

On Poulsen again.

I know a lot of fans at Sevilla wanted him to stay so I have read on the internet, etc.

He has been lucky to get off lightly you are right, I know he won't receive a warm welcome when he comes up against Totti at Roma, after that infamous spitting incident.

All in all, I think he will do well in Serie A.

I must add as well...

The start of Serie A had been class. Much better start than last season.

Napoli for the Uefa Cup :)

Are Cassano still playing for them?

Yeah Cassano is playing for them still.

lol

Had a great season last season, a move to Milan looked likely, I bet he is glad he stayed put, Milan have started where they left off.

Awful.

No problem.

Last season I think he hit about 10 or 11 in 20 something games.

So far this season he has not played, a slight injury has kept him out.

I have always had a soft spot for Sampdoria, so I decided to step that up this season, especially as a few of us are following foreign teams.

They are lacking a proven natural finisher right now. Cassano has a slight knock and Bellucci is still out injured since last season. This young Uruguayan they have signed though looks very promising from what I gather and they've just signed a Yugoslavian (Serbian) midfield wonderkid from all accounts.

They finished 6th last year, I hope they can at least match that this year and give a few teams a hiding in the UEFA Cup.

Napoli and Lavezza look very dangerous though this season.

Yeah as a avid Serie A fan, I was impressed with Samp last season.

They can only get better in my opinion.

Napoli have threatened and yes Lavezzi as well as Maggio and Hamsik, plus a lot of other talented players have been excellent.

I hope they can push towards a Champions League place come the end of the season.

I will be going to watch Napoli play in October, if they let fans in, lol
