maddog Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 11/1 to win it outright.Might have a fiver... No chance. We are bound to lose a lead in the last few minutes at somepoint. Can you get each-way on that? Might be worth a go just incase we make it to wembley before losing in the last 2 minutes. Id rather see us focus on the league, and try and win a few rounds in the Fa Cup for the thrill of it. I can't get the same thrill from the johnstone's paint TBH.
Joe. Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 I really can't even see us making it past tomorrow night
Flynny Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 11-1 really isn't bad. I might stick something on that. We'll have a messabout for the first couple of rounds but if we get through that which we still should we'll start taking it seriously and must be real favourites to win.
Webbo Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 tbh even with a team half full of reserves I can't see who can beat us out of these 2 divisions. We can go a long way in in this competition without trying too hard.

syston_fox Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 I can't see us setting this competition alight. Certainly don't expect us to win the thing but would be nice to at least survive through the first round!
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 what happens if its a draw? does we have a replay or is it decided on the night?
lildave3 Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 what happens if its a draw? does we have a replay or is it decided on the night? On the night, straight to pens.
jimmy7587 Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 Ive put 5 squid on us to nail this competition at 11/1 a few weeks ago. Problem is, I seeing us falling short against Hartlepool (not that they're any good, just the big players wouldnt give a toss!)
lcfcsam1 Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 If we made it to the final do you think we would take our full allocation as its the jpt?
Cheese Me Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 Can't for the life of me understand why everyone is so down on this. I know it's a bit of a mickey mouse competition but it's part of what is quickly becoming the charm of this season. All being well we'll have one year down in this league, have a bit of fun, win a llot of games and get promoted. This trophy is part of that and we may never get a chance to play in it again (or hopefully at least not for a good few years). It gives us a chance to play knock out football in a competition we have every chance of winning. Trip to Wembley and some silverware, it'd be almost liek the good old days. I would love it, absolulutely love it if we won this!

shen Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 We're already in a 46-game league season and participating in two major cups. We don't need another cup, which is rather worthless, that will tire our main players... I wouldn't mind it one bit if we went out straight away...
Shipman Out Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 Im going tonight seems like a mad decision
Wilkesy Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 I think its going to be tough tonight, but if we get through then it can only benefit the team as having a winning mentality can surely only be a good thing?

With five substitutes per game and a decent sized squad, why should any of our players get tired, poor lads? Quite the opposite in some cases. People like Weso, Porter, Campbell, Adams would probably love another sight of a football.
Ultra Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 If we made it to the final do you think we would take our full allocation as its the jpt? A trip to Wembley is a trip to Wembley, regardless of the competition. We would take 40000+, and witness possibly even the biggest-EVER gathering of City fans. For that reason alone, I hope we make it that far.

For that reason alone, I hope we make it that far. "Who remembers their first trip to wembley with their club"...Oh I do, we played Barnet in the Johnstons paint Trophy final. Banging. Hope we get knocked out it's an unwelcome distraction. tbh even with a team half full of reserves I can't see who can beat us out of these 2 divisions. We can go a long way in in this competition without trying too hard. Far too early to be saying that. We've not played a decent League One Team yet, We've had two promoted teams, Tranmere and Cheltenham. Hartlepool away on a Tuesday night we'll be the toughiest test this season.

lildave3 Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 Leaving mine about 12:45 to catch the bus to town, from there to Quorn, where Tommeh will drive us to the Pool. I didn't get to sleep 'til 5, I hope his car is comfy.
