It's not really an argument.

Just after reading this thread, which is heavily dominated with people moaning about the police, they should perhaps think that it's not going to be all plain and simple?

No-one on saturday would have been arrested for no reason whatsoever. they must have done something justifying arrest

It's happened before.

If you read Tubes post and other peoples reactions etc, you will probably see that this was the case than.

So tubes was walking down the road after the game and got arrested for no reason whatsoever? lol

Meh. If this is bad, wait for the return game at the New Den.

I do feel for Tubes and his old man though.

Read his post.

Just have done, I also viewed his profile..

Name: Tubes

Age: 17

Description: Chavvy Hooligan

I understand it's in jest, but that doesn't exactly do him any favours.

He mentioned trying to get out of the cuffs in his post, it's never going to happen so why do it. Will just wind up the police more and give them another reason to charge you for something else.

I don't think it'll be much of a problem. The segregation inside and outside the ground will be far more effective.

Only because they were hurting him. The police realised this and changed them for him! If asking "what has he done wrong" is a criminal offence than we might as well all give up now.

I believe that is sarcasm on Tubes' part.

Yeh it probably is. But to someone external it doesn't do him any favours after being arrested for 'nothing'

Are you one of those folks who have blind faith in the coppers, just ''cos they do a tough job and yadda yadda yadda..."? If so, once you get whacked across the chest with a baton and get treated like shit then I'll have no sympathy for you.

Seems like yesterday it was the coppers people had problems with, not the Millwall fans. The segregation helps, but when you have the authorities acting like a bunch of thugs in uniform, then there isn't much you can do.

No not at all lol

I've had a bad experience with police before, but my attitude is that as long as you don't do anything wrong then you reduce your chances of getting arrested. Pretty simple.

Sounds like this lad has perhaps been in the wrong place at the wrong time and caught by a rogue copper.

But how people say 'all police are scum' is bollocks.

I just think that the layout of the New Den will help in that away fans have their own pathway from South Bermondsey station to the ground. That should limit the need for police to get involved in the way they did on Saturday.

That said apparently it kicked off at London Bridge station when Leeds were last in town. In that case though they probably deserved a beating off the police!

I think blind faith is how most people get through life! I personally trust no one police, doctors etc all for good reasons! (bar firemen the only group of people who don't abuse there power)

Im so glad that our stewars are pretty cool, even when i accidentally while i was drunk spill beer on a coppers shoes once and the copper just said don't worry about it mate have a good night.

Right, first of all, there is sensible policing which deploys common sense, and there is the over the top shenanigans that did not warrant what I experienced and saw on Saturday. We have had Millwall here before, and have never had cause for complaint. Things have been done differently this time, and I honestly believe they were done wrongly.

As for all this "if you do nothing wrong, the police can't touch you" business, it is, in all honestly, a load of naive guff. PACE has been amended, and the police can arrest you for any offence these days. All they need is reasonable suspicion, which is a low threshold, and the necessity requirements that have been introduced doing little to protect the civil liberties of the ordinary citizen. Many arrests do not lead to a formal charge being made.

Where a charge is made, quite often the CPS cannot proceed because of procedural impropriety or lack of evidence. Also, not every person who goes to court is convicted (innocent and guilty).

I am glad you have faith in the criminal justice system, because I don't!!

Ive put it there because its the name I feel I have been branded with.

My mum has heard on radio leicester today a report about the policing and that the radio station are going to be contacting the police, then she spoke to my dad earlier and she is now fully behind me.

Just to let everyone know if anyone has any complaints about the police at this or any other match Amanda who runs the standupsitdown forum has many great contacts who regually deal with these sort of cases and can take up cases for you and they also have great advice.

I've had her permission to give her email address, its well worth contacting her:-

Don't you realise people do things irrational when they are angered, espcially unessarily angered. If I'd been arrested, I'd find it quite hard to stay calm.

When I was ejected from Preston away last year, it was similar. I was told I'd be out if I continued to throw anything (When I hadn't thrown anything in the first place & tried to explain this). I was angered and told the steward to "Check his ****ing CCTV", looking back, I should have just walked away from him, but it's hard to do in the momen, Espcially if your red-blooded, but you probably wouldn't know anything about that eh?
