Matt Posted 23 September 2008 Posted 23 September 2008 Ex-Foxes ace Savage free to leave DerbyPublished Date: 23 September 2008 Derby County manager Paul Jewell has confirmed former Leicester City midfielder Robbie Savage is free to leave Pride Park on loan. The 33-year-old former Wales international has not featured in the Rams' last five matches after losing his place after the 1-0 home defeat by Southampton on August 23. "Robbie's agent rang me and asked would we consider loaning him out, and I said yes," Jewell told the Derby Evening Telegraph. "He is not in the team. He wants to play football and he is one of the players that will be available for loan." Savage's wages could prove a stumbling block in any possible move but Jewell revealed Derby would be willing to assist in that department. "We are quite happy to help things happen if that is what Robbie wants and it benefits both sides."
Corky Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Hmmmmm. I wonder who he'll be going to? Hopefully anywhere but Filbert Way, Leicester.
DB11 Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Why do they refer to him as former Leicester and not Birmingham or Blackburn who are better clubs?
JakeShingler Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Why do they refer to him as former Leicester and not Birmingham or Blackburn who are better clubs? Because hes famous for being a Leicester player and also were not Birmingham or Blackburn fans
The Stig Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Why do they refer to him as former Leicester and not Birmingham or Blackburn who are better clubs? It sepends on what journalist. Some decide that it should me the most recent club who gets mentioned, some just pick who they are most memorable for, some pick the best.
Corky Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Why do they refer to him as former Leicester and not Birmingham or Blackburn who are better clubs? Because he made his name with us. Whenever people think of Savage they think Leicester as well.
joely22 Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Because he made his name with us. Whenever people think of Savage they think Leicester as well. I just think of him as pikey.
andyh1884 Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Hmmmmm. I wonder who he'll be going to? It appears Micky Adams wants him at Brighton Brighton have spoken to Derby County about bringing veteran midfielder Robbie Savage to the Withdean on loan. The 33-year-old former Wales international worked with Seagulls boss Micky Adams at Leicester City. Adams told his club's website: "I have spoken to Robbie about coming to Brighton but he has a number of options and he is considering those." Meanwhile, Savage's Rams' team-mate, Scotland midfielder Gary Teale, 30, has turned down a loan move to Brighton. Savage was told this week he would be allowed to leave Pride Park on loan if the right offer came in for him. Adams explained: "Paul Jewell had agreed for Robbie to come in principle but that was before we beat Manchester City and set up our Carling Cup third-round tie with Derby.
