davieG Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 Milan Mandaric has slammed the boo boys who have rounded on Leicester City. The club chairman has suggested they should "take their money to the pub" instead of going to the Walkers Stadium. Lying one point off an automatic promotion place in League One with a game in hand, and on an eight-game unbeaten run is not, it appears, good enough for some fans who have booed City in the past couple of games. Along with the rest of the City camp, Mandaric cannot believe even such a small minority should spoil what has been a good start to the season. While he has every respect and affection for the vast majority of the Blue Army, he is unhappy with those seemingly intent on spoiling things, and said: "I can't believe the negativity of some in the crowd. "If they are going to be like that, obviously not enjoying the game, they should take their money to the pub instead where they probably will enjoy themselves. "We have just started the season, have lost just one game in 12 league matches and are well placed in the table. "This young team needs encouragement from everyone who is a real supporter. "We have a good team, a good manager and most of the fans are happy. Why anyone wants to take that away is something I just don't understand. The crowd can be a key member of success but they can also be a key member the other way as well. "I really respect the fact that we will have a great following at Brighton tonight from people who have travelled for three or more hours, and then have to be back for work the next day. But those who seem to want to spoil what has been such a good start, I just don't understand it." City go to Brighton knowing victory would be the perfect answer to those starting to doubt the team. Manager Nigel Pearson said: "There will always be questions asked when you don't produce the goods, so we take it on the chin and move on. The only way to stop people questioning us is by producing wins, and that is what we will be striving to do at Brighton." Former City boss Micky Adams, now at Brighton, said: "Night games at the Withdean Stadium are special and, as we are facing one of the fancied teams, we will definitely be up for it." PS Were there no girls booing?
Munzie Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 Milan Mandaric has slammed the boo boys who have rounded on Leicester City... I know he's now wallflower, but it must have got to the team for him to release such a statement. Encouraging, so called, fans to stay away is not done lightly, He'll get his wish tonight as the travelling faithful will always back the team no matter what.
Raj Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 BOOOOOO!!! BOOOOOO!!! BOPALULLA SHE'S MY BABY....BEBOPALULLA I DONT MEAN MAYBE!!
norfolkfox222 Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 O NO!!! Hes opened his mouth again!! Another draw or even a defeat on the cards tonight then!!
Munzie Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 Maybe I should start booing the Missus. That way she will tell me to stay in the pub!
Raj Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 O NO!!! Hes opened his mouth again!! Another draw or even a defeat on the cards tonight then!! Has he said anything before the last 3 games which have all resulted in draws then?
Lovejoy Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 Milan is spot on. And for him to actually tell fans to stay away it must be getting to him.
Guest Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 The man has a fair point. We've had a solid start to the season even if we probably should have a few more points on the board. It was never going to be a perfect season with us winning all our games
The People's Hero Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 It's not about to stop them booing ... is it?
SamL Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 Spot on Milan. Whether it'll stop people booing remains to be seen.

norfolkfox222 Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 Has he said anything before the last 3 games which have all resulted in draws then? Well yeh! When we were winning we didnt hear anything from him then he came out and said he was happy with the progress etc! That is when it started to slip up! I do hope im proved wrong tonight tho!!!
Thracian Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 I tend to agree with the boss on this one. We can all get frustrated but booing the team or individual players seems entirely counter-productive to me although Milan has to remember that football supporting is an emotional business. It hursts when players do daft things or don't seem to be giving their all. Unfortunately fans always prefer the destructive, all-action players like Kisnorbo and Dickov to the fancier, less physical risk takers like Gradel or the quietly reliable achievers like King and will turn on the latter more quickly while often ignoring the mistakes of the all-action Kisnorbo types.

Kilworthfox Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 Note to Milan! Shut the **** up! Loyal fans waste their money on this man who has led us to relegation with his ill tempered attitude towards his managers which he appoints, and now tells the boo boys to put up or piss off when we can't beat the poor sides in this division. The man is a fool! He should look to himself instead of critisizing those who financially back him in Divison 3, they are his only means of financial support so shut the hell you div.

And it will never change. Goal getting players will always be more popular than the rest. Lead singers of bands will always get more glory than the drummer or guitarist (unless you are Phil Collins or Slash!). And I also think that's the majority of the problem with our current fickle fans. Our strike force isn't taking their chances - lets have a moan at the whole team. As you say, certain players go about their business completely unnoticed. The back four or central midfield will be non-existent, in some fans eyes, unless they put through a premiership type pass or successfully pull off a match saving tackle. When we win a game comfortably, everyones happy. The team's overall ratings post match tend to reflect the score line rather than individual performances. When we lose, every mis-placed pass or lack of attack minded move counts against players. Don't get me wrong, winning or losing is a team thing. If we win (and win well) I would expect the overall ratings to reflect this as I would expect losses to be less. That said, within any game you will get good, bad and indifferent individual performances. Strikers will always be in the spotlight, as will fast paced wingers. Give them an off day and the whole team gets it!

If you want to encourage booing at matches, let me tell you, the owner, the manager, the players and the vast majority of the fans do not want you to come. You are working against everything the club is working towards. So piss off and stay at home.
Daggers Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 Not defending them - but surely if we played more like a team aspiring for promotion, playing pass and move football and making shots on target then maybe people would be a tad more entertained? Maybe if we continue to kick aimless balls up-field, lose possession cheaply and shirk or cock-up shots on goal then people will boo and attendances will continue to decline?
The People's Hero Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 You pays yer money you takes yer choice. Booing might not be constructive but it seems the message got across...?
Kilworthfox Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 If you want to encourage booing at matches, let me tell you, the owner, the manager, the players and the vast majority of the fans do not want you to come. You are working against everything the club is working towards. So piss off and stay at home. OK Big Boy! However I never said I Boo'd did I? In actual FACT I did not boo at the weekend or on Tuesday night. I would like some reasonable factual debate on hear rather than randomly writing down negative corrispondance based on an assumption. On your point about people curently conected with the club which you highlighted.... I believe the fans should never be told by those in positions of power at LCFC if they are welcolme or not! The fans are the backbone of LCFC not the Chairman, Manager or Players. Those who you state have said this are in no position to tell the foundations of the club (who were here before and will be here long after every single one of them leaves) if they are welcolme at LCFC.
Corky Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 Football fans are fickle, he should know that. Would they have booed if Andy King's "goal" had stood? Of course they wouldn't, despite the fact it would still have been the same below-par performance and not every player playing that well. I think some fans turn up specifically to moan, and there are different ways of showing your frustration. I think booing is only necessary when there has been a visible lack of effort. Was there a lack of effort on Saturday? I don't think so, just a below-par performance. I expect Mandaric will now get a backlash from some fans, but surely it's about opinions? Your opinion is you feel the team need criticising, so why get all sensitive when you are criticised back?
Munzie Posted 28 October 2008 Posted 28 October 2008 Loyal fans waste their money on this man who has led us to relegation with his ill tempered attitude towards his managers which he appoints, and now tells the boo boys to put up or piss off when we can't beat the poor sides in this division. I've never felt like I've wasted money watching my team, even through the bad times. If I did, I could think of a zillion things to spend my dosh on. Our two recent games weren't against poor sides. In comparabe to who? Mighty us, who fell from the dizzy heights of the Championship. It's been said many times, no team will just roll over against us because we're that famous club from the higher leagues. I keep asking God for this 'given right of passage' back to the promised land but he's not phoned, not written... You are so right on this. However, it works both ways. You show me a team (especially in this division) that will always play to expectations and take every goal scoring oppertunity offered and I'll show you a match ticket costing a hell lot more than £23!
