davieG Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 From the BBC Fringe players can go - Mandaric Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric says players who are not involved in the Foxes current campaign will be allowed to leave the Walkers Stadium. Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester: "It's up to the manager to make the decision, of course. "But some players who aren't participating, for whatever reason, would be a lot happier if they can go somewhere and play football." Mandaric has also confirmed boss Nigel Pearson has money to bring in players. Mandaric added: "We have a big squad and we have a big budget for this division, so we'll look at that as well." The Foxes are two points clear of Millwall at the top of League One
Guest Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Fair enough I think. Milan's on a bit of a roll this week
LCFC123 Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Good to hear, get rid of some of that dead wood. Who would be considered as the fringe players though?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Good to hear, get rid of some of that dead wood.Who would be considered as the fringe players though? Worley, Hayles, Hayes (If he's still here), Sappleton et al.
Zingari Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 some of them could be described as "beyond the fringe"
LCFC123 Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Would have liked to have seen a bit more of them, but not really any big losses.
Carlos9 Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Looks like new players in january then A new striker would be nice and get rid of some of the ones who arent all that!
C-man Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Mandaric is saying the right things this week. Infact, I'm quite pleased with him this season. Brought in the right man and is now giving him money to spend. Fantastic
syston_fox Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Bye bye Levi Bye Bye Levi Erm.... what they said!
jayyd08 Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 get rid of all the dead ends and get a right winger and a striker

To me it seems Mandaric is inferring that that the squad and budget are both too big. Maybe it's just me.
RowlattsFox Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 I don't want to see us bring many new players in January, unless we have to. I'd hope we can make Gilbert loan permanent, and potentially Davies as well. If Steve Walsh has found decent bargains that he thinks can play at a higher level then yes we should bring them in now but we don't need too many new players, if any. Wouldn't mind seeing Kisnorbo, Hayes, Hayles, Kishishev, Logan etc and hopefully get Chambers out on loan. Our fringe players aren't going to bring in much money.
Finnegan Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 I just want to be the first to say... Bye bye Levi

Koke Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 We don't need to bring anyone in. The squad is good as it is. Extending David Martin and Mark Davies' loan deals would be ideal though.

Not forgetting the Powell and Edworthy situations and the fact the Fryatt is not the only one who's contract ends in the summer.
Koke Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Not forgetting the Powell and Edworthy situations and the fact the Fryatt is not the only one who's contract ends in the summer. I'm not worried about the two full backs. They're not wanted by any clubs and their careers is about to end so extending their contracts till the summer will be child's play. The Fryatt situation; I think he'll sign eventually. If he doesn't, I think we'll let his contract run out. I think the only dealings we'll make in January are internal dealings and loan extensions.
Corky Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Not surprised. Pearson has got a nucleus of around 17-20 players that he feels are the best, and so far has been proved right, so let the fringe players go, both for their's and the club's sake, and we move on, maybe purchasing new players.

Signing the two fullbacks would be easy but he may want to look longer term than just this season and although they are both reliable defenders neither seems to be able to guarantee regular 90 minute performances or get forward as much as you need to in this league, many have suggested Dyers downturn in form is a lack of a suitable over lapping fullback.

Not quite sure why, he was at his best with Powell behind him earlier in the season.
Rich_Sheffield Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Ditch Fryatt and get a goalscorer. Fryatt is a Goal Scorer (especially at this level)
