BoneDog Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 I cant help wondering what as happened to Matty Fryatt, my son went up to hartlepool last night and said he was absolutely rubbish cannot see him cutting it in the ccc league. I don't know if anything has happened to him. He has scored some good goals this season but if he's Championship level we don't know. He certainly never cut it in there last season. Let's hope he's improved, can't really tell yet as we're playing teams who haven't got the quality we faced last season. Folks might disagree but time will tell.
C-man Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Exactly mate, people piss me off by caring more about Leeds. Its Leicester, Millwall and MK Dons. Don't give 2 ****s about anyone else. How can you care about Millwall, but not give a fuck about Scunny who can get more points than Millwall if they win their games in hand? I wish people would stop worrying about Millwall more than anyone else, they've still got to win their games in hand, as have MK, Scunny, Peterborough, and Oldham. At the end of the day, we've got the points on the board, they haven't, it's ifs and maybes for them and catch us if you can for us.
BoneDog Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 As for the unbeaten record, we are playing at the lowest level we have ever played at so you would expect us to put a good run together with the players we have. It's not really a big achievement to break club records when you are playing below your true level. The only reason we are in this league is shit management last season and the fact that we had the record for red cards that were withdrawn in a season. Without those dodgy red cards I'm sure we would of had the points we needed to stay up. Without a doubt if we had steady management last season we wouldn't even of been in League One.
JoeyB Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 I enjoyed that.I'm not going to read the previous six pages as I'm guessing it's full of miserable crap - I caught sight of Ultra's post and that was enough for me. We looked weak on the flanks but there were a stack of positives and the ref was a total cockhead. A reasonable atmosphere, brilliant stewarding and the best parking I've had at a ground. Ever. iPod car disco wasn't bad either - well done DJ's Agree with what you said their, great night. and thanks alot daggers, much appreciated! Funniest night out I think I've ever had....pure comedy start to finish. Thought Hobbs, Berner and Howard had decent games but on the whole it wasn't our best display and I'm happy with a point. Spot on! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last night was great, although none of the penalties were actual penalties i think the ref had in his mind he had to make it even someway, and when Fryatt got brought down in the final few minutes that was more of a penalty than all of the others put together (and if it wasn't why did he not get booked for diving?) The Ref was diabolical, talk about double standards. Bunn i thought he was good in goal tonight, always looked for the quick distribution and commanded well i thought. Brown solid in the air poor distribution on the ground tho. Mattock & Dyer - piss poor Berner - Magic, some lovely touches + 8 points for the dive Howard - Magic, won everything got nothing. 2 goal MOTM
Tilley Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Having seen the highlights, ours was a definite pen and theirs was a blatant dive. Very soft. No, it was never a penalty. Another point, but felt like a defeat conceding so late on. Really do need a win to break up this run of draws, lucikly teams in 3rd etc aren't winning. Our right hand side got tortured last night, Howard was class, but Dyer wasn't there again. A little pissed off, but still unbeaten I suppose.
Tilley Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Carl Pentney, what a guy. Loved it when I shouted Carl, we love you. Blushed and everything. He appreciated that shit.
Dr The Singh Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 For title challengers to lose the lead twice must be abit demoralising!! We need a win, and quick!!
C-man Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 I took an AFC Telford fan, a Sheffield Wednesday fan and a Manchester United fan, and their conclusion was that it was an epic night. Great support from us. 100% standing? Great stewarding/policing. ie. nothing said. Great STEEEEEEEEEEVE action. Great parking in Morrisons. Comedy ref. Comedy home support. I got there about 5 minutes before kick-off and accidently tried to get in the home end because I misread one of the turnstiles and the map on my ticket. I was promptly called a 'Loony bastard' by the operative who couldn't believe I was trying to get on their terrace. Did anyone see that poor girl who got all the pies and cobs knocked off her trolley by some angry City fan when we were leaving? She had a monumental northern accent - 'Al smack yous in thao mooth'

Leicester Lass Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Firstly, big thanks to Daggers for the lift - very much appreciated. As for your comment about the DJs, I have to say there was a few dubious selections from a certain someone though Think a draw was probably the fairest result last night, we looked weak down both sides of the pitch and to be fair to Hartlepool they had the most of the possession and looked quite dangerous when they came at us. Disappointed to concede a late goal, but agree with what C-Man has said, I'd much rather be in our position, with the points on the board, than anyone elses. Howard was really impressive last night, Berner put in a lot of hard work and Hobbs and Brown looked solid at the back. Wouldn't be surprised to see Dyer relegated to the bench on Saturday, it was clear he has nothing left in the tank and desperately needs a rest. Quick word for the fans as well, decent in numbers and decent in voice as well Obviously the confidence of the squad will suffer a bit after recent results, but we shouldn't forget we're unbeaten in 19 games - and to still be picking up points in this 'bad patch' is vital, and we mustn't forget other teams are faultering as well. I still think we need a win sooner rather than later, but let's not panic, the worst we can be is 8 points clear of third place after all teams have played their games in hand. We only need to finish second.
Tilley Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 The referee was simply awful too, some of his decisions were shocking.
JoeyB Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Firstly, big thanks to Daggers for the lift - very much appreciated. As for your comment about the DJs, I have to say there was a few dubious selections from a certain someone though You were signing along to them
C-man Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Oh, and the away end sounded LOUD before kick off from outside. Really good acoustics.
Number 6 Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Just been looking at what points total would have won the title in previous years: 07/08: 83 06/07: 86 05/06: 80 04/05: 87 03/04: 84 02/03: 87 01/02: 92 So we could probably average 1 point per game until the end of the season and stand a good chance of being crowned champions. Obviously would rather win it in style but just a point. We probably only need 20 points from 42 to guarantee it.
lcfc_jme Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Very enjoyable night, from getting picked up until being dropped off. Quality banter from the travelling group. Away end was good yesterday, stood pretty much on the whole and made decent noise. Unhappy with the man in the Tigers shirt though. What a shambles. Stewarding was quality, no problems whatsoever. Don't think he enjoyed Dave shouting "STEEEEEEEVE!!" in his face repeatedly though !! Referee was probably the worst I've ever seen at any level of football I've ever played / watched. Literally had no idea what he was doing. I sincerely hope he was being assessed last night. Disgraceful. Mind you, the respective performances of Lloyd Dyer and Joe Mattock gave the referee a run for his money in terms of how awful they were. Both were shocking and I don't think they should play a part on Saturday. Being right in front of Howard's penalty was memorable; the stuff dreams are made of right there. Tommeh's front row record is not quite on that level though... Oh, and Face Drive is the best thing ever. Fact!

He tries to tell me that he took them up as champions then ****ed off, I just shouted STEVE! He repeated it. STEVE! Repeated it again. STEVE! Loved it.
Simi Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 What an abysmal refereeing performance that was. Laughable. As for the match, I thought a draw was a fair result in the end. Hartlepool were no mugs but we allowed them too much time on the ball at key areas of the match. Left hand side is a small problem, Mattock looked 5 yards off the pace again as did Dyer, wouldn't mind a shakeup down that side to be honest, cost us quite a bit lately. Don't think there was any real stand out performances, Howard took his goal really well and it was good to see Fryatt give Howard the penalty after the Oldham game. Big game on Saturday.
CosbehFox Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 I watched the goals this morning. Love both of Stevie's celebrations. I bet that peno was nearly as good as his celebration after the goal at Walsall.
Bryn Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 If noone photoshops that photo of Steve to put a cape on there's something wrong.
Guest Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 If noone photoshops that photo of Steve to put a cape on there's something wrong. Quite literally, Super Steve!

I've had enough of this 'egg-chasers can fcuk off' and crap like that. I have a lot of respect for Tigers fans and rugby as a sport on the whole. Can people just back off FFS!

A fan going to a game in another teams kit is a disgrace and I hate them and am not afraid to tell them.
Corky Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Pretty enjoyable night, despite losing two points at the end. Entertaining match but the ref was abysmal, totally dreadful. Stood up all game at the front, and we created a good atmosphere. Saw a load of FTers as well.

Thought Hobbs, Berner and Howard had decent games but on the whole it wasn't our best display and I'm happy with a point.Pretty sure this thread will be full of moaners but they will just be ignored....Cancer comes to mind. Oh and being right in front of steves penalty was a special moment. Our support was also much improved I think many good faces there tonight and constant noise, ignoring the 30 odd sitting near the middle, who even moaned about all our fans standing, its laughable. Absolutely I take it that was the reason we had to move back from the front of the stand? We couldn't see the corner flags if we weren't right at the front. Ridiculous, you've travelled all that way on a Tuesday to sit and moan about fans trying to create an atmosphere. Why do they bother going?
