Bob666 Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 seems ironic not to live too far away from the old Wimbledon FC & not be able to obtain a ticket in home end due to post code bought one on-line but no doubt will get rejected when cross referenced to city database
Joe. Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 Ask somebody you know who definitely isn't on the database with us if you can use their name and postcode?
CosbehFox Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 You're definition of a 'part time fan' is a bit off though.... Like you, I can't afford or even get to, a lot of City games but every one I can, I do go to without fail. I wouldn't call myself a part time fan! Its people that will moan and whine about seeing a 0-0 ("having paid to see some football!") and stay at home on a rainy Saturday because they just can be bothered, only to snag tickets for MK Dons because 'its a match that matters'. fook off, every match matters. Every match has an equal weighting of 3 points to be won and you should be trying to support your team regardless of the opposition. Spot on there fella. That's my description of a part-time fan, there's guys will go just one away game all season because 'it matters'. As for that database, what about people like myself who are on both databases? I went Dons-Shrews last season and sat in the home end (next to some Leeds plonker who was support Dons strangely), I can't remember whether they took my details or not. I am on about 6 or 7 databases from watching games as a neutral? You could be a Dons fan who ended up on LCFC's database because you watched a game with a family member who lives in Leicester viceversa.
C-man Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 How do you define a 'Part-time' fan? I don't think that any of the people in this thread, or the MK Dons Ticket and Travel thread, would criticise anyone that went to 3 away games a season if they went, stood and got right behind the team. What they are saying is that these 'Part-timers' will go, moan at every mistake, sit down and moan at anyone that was trying to support the team by standing and chanting. And by personal experience (Cov away last season, Northampton this year) they may well be right next weekend. I don't see how it is snobbery by saying that a person whos been to 12 or more away games this season who misses out on getting a ticket deserves a ticket more than those who are going to their first away game of the season. I don't see how this is any more a massive game than Sheffield United away at the end of last season, if we had won that we would have stayed up. Yet we only took 1500ish there and it was one of the best away days ever, and we lost 3-0. At the end of the day, these 'snobs' just want a good atmosphere, and they will not let anything sit in the way of that.
Floating Fox Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 I find it f**king boring. Before anyone assumes I'm being defensive I don't consider myself "a part time away supporter". I stand. I sing. And I go to games based on whether I'm available or not. Who we're playing rarely comes into it. Hence why I've seen Leyton Orient twice this season but only been to about 7 games or something. But yeah, the constant abuse of the "part time" fan who might actually have other things to do in their life apart from watch football is repetitive and boring. It gives the impression there's a group of supporters with a massive superiority complex. To be honest mate I find what your saying quite offensive really. The die hards who follow the team everywhere (plenty of them are ****** as well though) will make themselves available. I only work on fridays and saturdays! So Basically I half what I earn in a week to go to watch city. People could do better things, go out with their families, wifes, missus, or just decide it's not worthwhile (Which It probably isn't!) and go on the lash for a night, BUT instead they choose to make themselves available. Obviously, there are occasions where it's impossible to be available, I missed Oldham through a wedding and some mid-week games are next to impossible to get to if you don't have a car. Obviosuly it's easy for me to say this, having only missed a couple of aways in the last 2 years, but you know...some of us that go to lots of games, do actually have a life as well. Hard to believe that I know.

I think the part-time bit simply refers to the functioning brain they come to games with.

Hard to believe that I know. I knew that post would rile a few! Seriously though. I wasn't saying those that go to all the matches don't have lives. I was saying that those that DON'T go to all matches often have other commitments that mean they can't go. Working, weddings, birthdays, holidays, all sorts really. I have the utmost respect (seriously) for the likes of you, Ched, Tommeh, etc who go out your way to see as many games as possible. It's inspiring. What I don't like is the superiority complex that sometimes seems to come with that. Not all the time, but when I notice it I get a little annoyed, that's all.
CosbehFox Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 The superior complex you are trying to get at is your people's natural reaction to suffering something lthey don't like. When someone doesn't get what they want and there's a chance it's down to their own fault, it brings the worst of people. Spitting blood so to speak. It's hardly snobbery either - you support the club, you want it back and viceversa. You travel with them miles, you want something back. That has nothing to do with whether you can make it or not. The thing everyone has with this game, is this reinforced stereotype of fan who are going this, it was seen at Cov last season on the back of a 4-0 win at home and a trip which would take no longer than a hour, it was seen in the q on Thursday morning, there's one poster on here whose no fine example of the fan we are getting at. They'll be there when we take 3k anywhere, they will be there on cup finals, they won't be there when in the hard times. The run of away games last season which were enough to cripple anyone's heart for the club. They have the 'CHOICE', unlike many. You could have asked them first game of the season, 'you going the reverse fixture?' No would have been the majority of the answer. They were 1800 in Stockport for the first away game and we have a similar number travelling Bristol tomorrow. It hurts because it's the time and effort you have put into something, only to see someone with minimal time with the club when they HAVE it take it away from you. (I have probably gone too far and too serious here).

Although the term part time fan is maybe a bit misleading if your definition is correct. That sort of fan just sounds like your average Leicester supporter! (also I never used the word "snob", I've tried to clarify what I was saying in the previous post)
Part Of The Crowd Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 last call, i'm going out to MK in a minute and i'm going to be in leicester tomorrow all day
Tilley Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 last call, i'm going out to MK in a minute and i'm going to be in leicester tomorrow all day Alot of people will wish they had read this post.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 well, i did wait, my lift is here now and i've got to go i might be able to get some during the week and mail them though, if there are tickets left...

Basically the peeps who go to every away game are looking at their bank balances and thinking, i wish i hadn't spent all that money on going to all the away games and only gone to a few or some of them. So they desperately try to justify the fact they have gone to all those games, spent loads of cash, saying how amazing they all are, and attack anyone who only goes to the odd one as they think it's unfair they've spent all that money and people who haven't get to go to the bigger games like Mk Dons, but dont go to Brighton on a Tuesday night. The fact standupandsing feels offended by your post there sums it all up really And im basically a twat because im not really bothered about going to away games, i can listen on radio for free and still follow it as best i can, watch the odd one thats on SKY and save a load of doh. I could go to all the away games, but i have better things to do and its more of a treat going to a few in a season than all of them. Hence why im looking forward so much to Mk Dons.

maddog Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 Why did Wimbeldon change to MK Dons? Because that bloke bought Wimbledon then changed their named and moved them. He owns the club he can do whatever the hell he wants. Mandaric could change our name to Exeter Eagles and move us down Exeter if he wanted
maddog Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 Sums it up for me. You do wonder sometimes. Its your choice to go to all away games its mine not to. I go to all the home games, i enjoy the odd away game, i wouldn't enjoy it if i had to travel every week and spend loads of money every week. But you obviously do so its your choice

andyh1884 Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 For some people, every game is an away game. My only 'home' game this season has been Walsall away
maddog Posted 20 February 2009 Posted 20 February 2009 maddog, your are an absolute fucking idiot. I don't want to go to away games every other week. Your the fooking idiot. You've wasted a hell of a lot of time and a hell of a lot of money.

You are a massive tool. If I had the time/money then I'd go to all the awayers (Franchise excepted) probably. I'd be in Bristol tomorrow if I had the money and it wasn't so difficult to get to. By some people's definitions, I'm a part timer because I can't make every home and away game, but when I do go I stand up and do my part to try and help create a good atmosphere. I couldn't get a ticket for Northampton t'other week and of course I was annoyed, but I could respect the fact that fans who go to more games have more of a right to go than me. So enjoy your MASSIVE away day against a team who have no right to exist. Enjoy sitting down with your flask and hot dog, and telling those around you trying to stand up and make it a decent atmosphere to sit down. And enjoy being a smug, stupid and ignorant prat.
