purpleronnie Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 I doubt many people will be surprised at Liverpool losing to Lyon, they are a good side and Liverpool without Torres have limited scoring power, still missing Alonso. I guess they will have a chance in the Europa.
AjcW Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 Well it seems as though Nath has left me to represent barca tonight. Was very disappointed with the team tonight. Pedro as talented as he may be is not good enough for CL football yet. Alves was shocking! His shoot on sight policy is driving me mad. Messi still has argie hangover. Ibra looked sharp though fair play to him. The midfield lacked creativity and for the first time ever were so so so slow! However im not surprised at the result as I didnt expect us to get any more than a draw out of the game. Well done rubin, some quality players in their lineup.
Joe. Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 Liverpool are getting murdered in the papers tomorrow, terrible result. Pretty sure they only had one point from their first three matches last season though, so all's not lost just yet. Watched the Arsenal game and thought they should have wrapped things up after their first goal. Alkmaar pressed well at the end without really creating much, but ultimately got their rewards late on with a very good goal. And Barca... what the ****?!
Samilktray Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 The Liverpool defeat isnt that big of a surprise. Lyon are a top european side.

Corky Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 The Liverpool defeat isnt that big of a surprise. Lyon are a top european side. Will be very hard for Liverpool in two weeks time. Stunned at Barcelona's result.
Darkzzz_ Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 Just back from the Gallagher show and didn't want to comment until I had seen the highlights of the CL games. Rubin What more can I say, they fully deserved it from the highlights I just watched, Barca have had it coming, awful at the weekend and again tonight. That result was softened somewhat by Lyon beating Liverpool. Lovely.
lildave3 Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 Some interesting results tonight! Liverpool, not too surprising but it's still a poor result. Surely that is Benitez gone now. Arsenal, typical. Barca - ! Fair play to Rubin, they're grafting. And Alex boy saying he's not surprised and it's not an upset, yeah ok  And referring to Barca as 'us', shut up you tool. Rangers - Dreadful. Inter against Dynamo Kiev aswell, that group is a right funny one. 3 draws out of 3 for Inter though, not good enough.

Firstly Ive watched 6 Of Rubins Leafue games this season, in full, and have been very impressed with them, and after barca's performance at the weekend I was expecting US to get nothing more than a draw out of it, in the end it was a loss. Secondly, I have followed barcas games since I was 8, and consider myself a genuine fan, obviously leicester come first but barca are also very close to my heart... what about you and Fener.. do I ever comment on that.. no.. I actually try and have proper conversations with you about them. Just another case of rude ignorance and assumption.
Budweiser Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 Rubin Kazan Rangers ! Liverpool, tut tut. Nothing more than an average side without key men, which is understandable, but their strength in depth is a joke.

Generally i'd say that the Champions of Europe losing to some Champions League debutants is an upset. Especially at home! And I have never said Fenerbahce as 'us'. I don't care if you 'followed them' since you were a foetus, 'us' is ridiculous.

Look at Chelsea, Arsenal, and Man Utd's benches, and they have quality. Liverpool have nothing outside of their first 11. There's no way they can challenge for serious trophies this season. Either Rafa or the Yanks go.

Darkzzz_ Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 I know how you feel about Barca but the only US in my life are Leicester. Barca are a team I have followed since I was about 10 (maybe 11) and I love to see them do well, when they lose yeah it's disappointing but it's nothing compared to how I feel when Leicester lose. All great teams have their off days, we will see how they recover, I'd be more concerned if I were a Liverpool fan.
StanSP Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 ld3, you're making a mountain of a mole hill. Just picking at things. Does it really matter?

I just use us when i refer to barcelona because I talk about them in the european threads and i just assume people make that link.

Seems a bit weird as I read it. Just wrong imo. Leicester is 'us'!
Samilktray Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 Great result for Rubin and I cant believe we've actually gone and beat the European Champions, smashing result for us.
