That early skirmish where Almunia made that fantastic point blank save and Barca had a few shots blocked really set up the night. Great game, I was glued to the tv and so glad Arsenal came back.

Walcott changed the game and a real shame he cant be that effective all the time.

The pen was a little harsh but the ref got it right imo.

Should be a cracking second leg but Barca should win it. Is Iniesta back for that? If he'd played tonight Barca would probably have won.

Good review of the Man Utd vs Bayern game in yesterday's Fiver (the Guardian daily football email):

BAYERN WHO-NICH?

Global leaders including Barack Obama, Gordon Brown, their Chinese counterpart whose name you may not know but to whom you will all soon bow down, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bono, Rupert Murdoch and Hannah Montana have given their unconditional backing to a proposal hastily put forward by the World Health Organisation this morning to distribute free oxygen masks to every idiot on the planet. The unprecedented emergency measure is designed to tackle the widespread shock detected among Earth's prominent cretin community in the wake of last night's debagging of the leaders of the Best League In The Universe by an obscure pub team from some backwater called "Germany".

Thankfully the measure may only be necessary in the short-term as Sky Sports News are believed to be working at this very minute on uncovering or creating evidence proving that the comprehensive defeat of Manchester United by a group calling itself "Bayern Munich" was a premature April Fool's prank; already it has emerged that people apparently in cahoots with the pranksters have concocted a fake Wikipedia entry claiming that "Bayern" have been champions of Europe on four separate occasions and that this little-known Franck Ribéry character is in fact among the best players in the world even though he doesn't play in England. Hahahahaha, check out that famous German sense of humour!

Suggestions that United are in real danger of elimination from Big Cup because this Bayern rabble will turn up at Old Trafford next week with two players even better than most of the ones who participated in last night's caper have been dismissed as a far-fetched extension of the gag by people who are convinced that Arjen Robben ceased to exist the moment he left Chelsea and that Bastian Schweinsteiger is just a German swear word or some kind of continental kitchen appliance.

United fans were, however, aghast to learn that one prong of their team's deadly attacking duo will feature neither in the second leg nor in Saturday's much more difficult clash with English opponents Chelsea. Because scans are likely to show that Wayne Rooney will be out of action for two to four weeks with a crocked ankle, all the onus will be placed entirely on the other one: Own Goals.

The fiver do it like no other. Just like the FW podcast, I love it when they rip the shit out of Sky on a level that would go straight past somebody as thick and deluded as Richard 'the best league in the world' Keys.

Incredible half so far from Barca/Almunia.

Great to hear the Emirates sounding like it should. Barca's following is pitiful.

Wasn't the away allocation sold out? I applied for a ticket in the Barca end but didn't get selected out of the hat, so I presumed that it would've been sold out.

Not very confident for Arsenal tonight, there injury list is getting far to long.

No Arshavin, Fabregas,Gallas, Song, Van Persie and now maybe no Campbell, so the Silvestre will probably have to start centre half with Vermaelen. Shame really because I really wanted Arsenal to knock these idiots out.. Hopefully Theo can do some magic tonight!

Arjen Robben back tomorrow night to make Gary Neville look a twat aswell :D

Barca are idiots? Any need for that?

And I can't help but think that Walcott is getting a bit too big for his boots saying he can 'rattle Barcelona'

But he can rattle Barcelona, he's already proved that by embarrassing their left-back last week and scoring a goal.

And we've seen how on and off he can be.

Wouldn't be surprised if Maxwell/Abidal is told to be a bit more physical on him in the early stages.

Not looking good for Arsenal with all the injuries but remember Barca are missing 3 big players too.

If Walcott has a good night no doubt he can cause problems for Barca but this is a big night for Bendtner too if he plays. These two will be crucial if Arsenal are to upset the odds and go through.

I really hope Arsenal do it but I'm afraid 2-0 Barcelona will be the score tonight.

In the Man Utd/Bayern game, Utd will obviously miss Rooney but I dont think they'll lose two games in succession at Old Trafford.

2-1 Utd after 90 minutes and they'll get another in extra time.

Four if Iniesta doesn't play.

If Barca don't destroy Arsenal tonight I'll be very surprised. Three of four nil is my prediction, can't quite decide how it's going to roll out just yet.

There's a big part of me that wants Barca to make Arsenal look like mugs though, not quite sure why.

I'd be surprised if man u or arsenal get through.

As I picked Barca to win the CL at the start I'll stick with them but Inter Milan will push them very hard.

Looking forward to this but I hope it stays tight though cos I like the tension. Should see at least a couple of goals. hopefully it's as entertaining as the first leg.

I reckon a score draw tomorrow night at Old Trafford.

I was really addicted to the last leg of the Barca tie. I think it will be 2-1 Arsenal for some reason. Bendtner snatches one in the 80th min.

As for Man Utd, i can see a 2-0 United.
