Struggling with March 15th Deadline?

Written by Ian Bason

Tuesday, 03 March 2009

The Foxes Trust has been trying, since the Season Ticket "Renew or Lose It" date was first announced, to persuade the club to extend the deadline.

While recognising the club has bought forward the renewal date to try and get an early indication of season ticket sales and therefore the likely funds available for next season, to enable early moves in the transfer market, the 6 weeks notice given to Season Ticket holders has left many struggling to raise the money in time.

The Trust has also been pushing for the club to make fans aware of the most cost effective ways of obtaining Season Tickets, however with the non appearance of this information, the Trust today publishes the options we feel are worth considering.

You Will Have the Funds in April?

If Season Ticket holders cannot afford to pay the full Season Ticket price by March 15th, but can afford it by the end of April, the most cost effective method is to pay the £50 deposit before March 15th and complete a single Direct Debit payment in April, therefore incurring a single £4 direct debit administration fee

The alternative of potentially losing your seat and paying the entire amount in April is more expensive due to the 10% price increase, so the single Direct Debit is the best solution.

You Will Have the Funds in May?

In the same way, if you cannot afford to pay the entire amount until May, choosing the £50 Direct Debit initial payment, and then 2 instalments to complete in May will incur £8 in administration fees, much cheaper than paying 15% more in May.

Combine Your Direct Debits !

Another good way to save costs is if several Season Ticket holders renew on a single direct debit, therefore if a family of 4 renew on a single direct debit, the administration cost in effect falls to £1 per person per month......

Indeed at the recent Fans Consultative Committee, the club revealed that 10 friends had all renewed under a single direct debit, with the person whose account the direct debit was linked to receiving post dated cheques for each month from all his friends.

So why not get together with friends and save some costs !

Needing to Save More?

If you are struggling to afford Season Tickets, don't forget one option is to obtain a lower priced seat and the "Just the Ticket" seats in the West Stand are the lowest priced seats in the stadium costing £275 for renewals for adults

Is a New Credit Card an Option?

While the Trust Board do not promote and recommend specific products, individually 2 of the board members have chosen to explore the Barclaycard claim that they have a specific football credit card whereby no interest is charged when the card is used to purchase a season ticket (interest charges would apply for any other purchase made on the card).

With this option, the club will charge a handling fee of 1.7 percent and an individual's ability to obtain a card depends on your credit rating. If you are contemplating this option it is strongly recommended that you discuss the full terms and conditions with Barclaycard first either via www.barclaycard.co.uk or telephone 0800 731 0200

Adult with Child

If you are an adult bringing a child, don't forget a new package has been introduced starting at £270, a considerable saving on last years prices

The Foxes Trust has produced this guide in good faith and hopes that fans will find it useful

Leicester City have reported a rise in the sale of family season tickets ahead of the March 15 price freeze deadline.

The Foxes have introduced a number of initiatives to entice more and more families into the Walkers Stadium - including the new Adult and Child Joint Season Ticket package.

And the club have revealed that the new deals are proving a big hit with fans.

A City Spokesman said: "We have been really pleased with the uptake of our new family orientated season tickets.

"The Adult and Child tickets have been particularly popular. Our aim is, and always has been, to offer affordable football to our supporters "

City fans are reminded that they can renew their current seats online via our e-ticketing website. CLICK HERE for further details. Alternatively, supporters can e-mail the Ticket Office at [email protected] to secure their seats prior to the March 15 deadline.

Adult and Child packages start from just £270 for the pair…which is less than £12 a game! And don't forget - under 8s go FREE in the Marks Electrical Family Stand !

We have made every effort to persuade the club to review the deadline.

They may still be considering extending the "lose your seat" cut off date, however the % price would still increase after March 15th.

Hence the reason we have outlined the best options available to ensure fans have a clear understanding of them, particularly as we don't feel many fans have picked up on the cheapest route of keeping your seat and additional charge to the price freeze being £4 (in paid off in April) or £8 (if paid in April & May installments), both of which are cheaper than paying the % price hikes

Most fans I have spoken with are very unsure if they wish to purchase a ST next year, let alone with this gun to our heads approach! I think I am going to go to a few games next year but I may play football agaoin on saturdays & just pick my games!

I spoke to many of the "hardcore" ST holders in L1 last night & the most inc myself are very unlikely to renew!

That seems to be their aim, there is so much emphasis on families, and I know how difficult it is trying to afford to take 2/3 youngster to a football match but when it's done at the expense of the 22+ age group it becomes extremely counter productive. What is the point of encouraging the future fan if you then price them out at the age of 22ish.

It's even more bizarre when you consider that in the main these 22+ fans are the most vocal and create the atmosphere that can make even the most dull football match exciting.

Totally agree. I wrote something very similar to Peter Jones once, he didn't give a shit.

Yep. Actually considering becoming a part timer and just going to away games....although bigger games would prove difficult to get tickets to.

That's what I'm doing. Home games really don't excite me anymore

Been doing this for a few seasons now.

Wish they'd introduce some kind of away priority for non season ticket holders though like certain other clubs have. I obviously don't mind losing out to season ticket holders for big away games because I understand that's it their 350 quid keeping the club going, not my however many hundreds to richard branson and various chairmen and landlords accross the country. Pisses me off though when members day sales for big games becomes a fooking battle of waiting on the phone and unanswered emails, to eventually lose out to some joker thats probably off to his first away of the season.

I'm moving to the Kop for next season.

Had enough of my current seat, and I bet it gets worse in there next year.

Me either but I've worked hard in getting to priority 1 for next season so I have little choice.

It's wank in the kop too in all fairness.

Its wank at the walkers full stop tbh.

The atmosphere has been poor as of late, very poor.

But the tickets are dearer this year anyway, no one seems to have mentioned the fact that VAT has been reduced by 2.5 percent.

This works out at approx £6 price difference.

What do the club have to say about this?

Or have the trust not asked this to be explained?

It was asked at the Trust AGM, but most anger was expressed at the "lose your seat" deadline and then the price hikes after March 15th.

This 'lose your seat' issue is a complete red herring and surely not worthy of any consideration in the light of the price increases.

It's been said before but needs saying again, with the prices going up and the deadline itself the chances of someone nicking your seat prior to the later cut off dates is absolutely minimal.

I bet Mandaric & Hoos are literally laughing all the way to the bank at the attention this is getting rather than the exorbitant price increases for seasoned ST holders.

That's not all we've seen nothing yet, if ST prices are ultimately going up by 15% think what impact this is going to have on match day prices if they intend to maintain the differential - certainly not in any way shape or form will it be a price freeze.

All this in the wake of the worst financial meltdown sine the 1930's.

And that is not even the worst of this disgraceful situation Mandaric and the local media should hang their heads in shame at the deceitful way this has all been presented.

Having said that for me to even contemplate being able to afford to go next season I will need to renew my 'Just the Ticket' before the 1st deadline because I know I cannot justify the 15% hike or the expected higher matchday prices.
