StanSP Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 He hasn't been substituted either. He's played every minute of our league campaign. That's dedication, commitment and stamina right there. I think he needs to get a bit bigger and stronger in order to compete even better next season.
The People's Hero Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 He hasn't been substituted either. He's played every minute of our league campaign. Good stat. Doesn't Steve Guppy the only outfield player in the prem to do that one season?
Fox92 Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I really rate the lad. He sits nicely in the midfield. His passing is of a high standard, as well as his first touch. And then his finishing is also top class for a midfielder.
RowlattsFox Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I can't help but think there is something missing, thats going to stop him from playing at the highest level but can't put my finger on what it is. I think next season, assuming we go up of course, will be a massive season for him and I just hope we give him the chance to continue his development rather than bringing in lots of new players in the summer meaning the likes of King can't get a game.

I can't see him playing every single game this season and then being overlooked next season should we go up. Pearson's clearly an admirer of his, and I doubt he'd be shifted out. I can't help but have this niggly feeling that King might struggle next season. I really hope I'm wrong.

He doesn't put his foot on the ball yet and dictate play as he could, or demand the ball from our centre-backs like he could, as Thracian pointed out. If anything, he can be a bit shy when things aren't going well - but he's still a kid and that can only improve. If he puts on half a stone of muscle in the off-season it'd help him out no end. Central midfield is probably the best place to get away with a lack of pace, but players without pace need a bit of strength.

Personally, I think he could demand the ball at his feet a lot more which would get him involved more. He could also bulk up some more. Terrific player though and has scored some absolutely vital goals this year.
Fox92 Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Against Millwall on Saturday he'll play his 60th game for the club in all competitions . The only player to have played all 36 league games this season + 8 cup games. 11 goals and 7 assists this season. And the most interesting stat, in my opinion, is that he has only received 1 yellow card in 60 games. And he's also quite a fit lad, rarely gets injured. I've been one of his main critics but I've started to appreciate him a lot now. He's gone off injured, but hopefully he is ok.
