Koke Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Against Millwall on Saturday he'll play his 60th game for the club in all competitions . The only player to have played all 36 league games this season + 8 cup games. 11 goals and 7 assists this season. And the most interesting stat, in my opinion, is that he has only received 1 yellow card in 60 games. And he's also quite a fit lad, rarely gets injured. I've been one of his main critics but I've started to appreciate him a lot now.
Joe. Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 He's certainly been an important player for us this year without a doubt. Those stats speak for themselves and just go to show how highly Pearson rates him. Just hoping he can make the step up next season in the Championship (all being well and that), something I still have my slight doubts about.
Legend_in_blue Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 He is a superb player. We'll struggle to keep hold of him beyond next season if he manages to make an impact like he has this season. He's like a young version of Garry Parker - an excellent passer of the ball, but also has the ability to score goals too.

If he could develop into a more rounded midfielder and be more involved with defensive duties he will be a very good championship player at least. Impressed with him this season, he is an example of relegation being a good thing for LCFC, as I doubt he would have had such an oppertunity in the Championship.

Thinner, I wonder if he drinks tea
Thracian Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 For me he needs to develop something outside of cruise control. King never stops working and thinking but he's physically one paced. No-one will ever make a sprinter out of him but I just wish he would try to accelerate into the penalty box occasionally. Don't mistake me. I've understood his need to pace himself because early in his first team career he found it hard to maintain his form for a full 90 minutes. But he does it well enough now and I just feel that he could develop just a little more explosiveness at times when it might really hurt the opposition. I'd all like to see him be a little more demanding. It's not his nature. He's an understated sort of guy. But he's getting past being a novice now, senior players seem to respect him and I just wish he'd start demanding the ball more from defenders if and when they fall into lazy mode and start to bypasss him with their aerial hoofs. Nothing particularly aggressive - I'm not suggesting a personality transplant - but just a quiet word to remind people of what's needed. It will be good practice cos I'm quite sure kingy is captaincy material in time. Stacks of talent. calm finisher and a reliable, constructive team player.
StanSP Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I still can't get over the fact that he has played every single game for us this season in all competitions. And 9/10 of those games he has some kind of impact - helping defence out or getting in positions to finish/create chances. Contender for Player of the Season in my opinion

Stevosevic Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I remember being very surprised when he was named in the starting eleven on the first day. Kept his place since then and has deserved to.
Daggers Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I love King. And Mayb's loves my shirt. He really does.
SystonFox Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 sometimes he passes backwards rather than forwards a bit too much but never sets a foot wrong, always committed to the cause and scores extremely important goals for us this season. hope he keeps it up another few!!!
Corky Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Very impressed with him this season- calm on the ball, good passing range and an excellent goal-scorer. Bright future ahead of him, hopefully with us.
BedsFox Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I am a big fan A goal every 5 games over 60 games for starters, good range of passing, good stamina, great temperament and very fit A bit too one paced to often get ahead of the front two is the only downside I can see I fear, if he carries on developing, we'll lose him to a big club on a 18 month - 2 year view.

He's come on quite a bit this season, and is less anonymous in games than he was at the start despite constant changes in those who play beside him. Not sure about him being captaincy material but then again I wasn't sure he would be a good player for us, so lets hope he proves me wrong again. Koke Posted 10 March 2009 Author Posted 10 March 2009 I think Bert is spot on. He's our Michael Carrick sort of player. I found his disciplinary record quite fascinating. 1 yellow card in 60 games is quite an astonishing stat. I never had him down as the type who pulls his socks up and get stuck in anyway, but Thracian is right in that he closes people down effectively rather than go in with a tackle. And he's also a fit lad. 36 consecutive league games is awesome. Only Frank Lampard does this sort of stuff.

King has come on 100% this season - A couple of small bad habits which should dissappear with experience and confidence.

The People's Hero Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Needs to improve physically and defensively without losing his attacking edge. Brilliant passer of the ball. He's had a very good season, no doubt about it. Let's see how he gets on next year.
BrummieFOX Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Still can't tackle.... Neither can Paul Scholes.
Ric Flair Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 The key to Andy King performing to his best is if he plays alongside a strong midfield that doesn't get over-run. King isn't lightweight, but he struggles to make the impact he can if our midfield is over-run. When we are on form and dictating play, Andy King is a beast of a player. Got class and composure. The fact his scoring record is also superb from central midfield as is the amount of assists and lack of booking, shows that we have a fantastic young player on our hands. He needs to keep on improving but he already has done this season, so there's no reason why he can't continue rapidly. We just need to make sure we strengthen the squad accordingly next season, so that players like King don't get lost.
