Daggers Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 A football fan with a seven-year history of taunting opposition supporters has been banned from games in England and Wales for four years. Taunting?! What the fudge is wrong with taunting? Click the quote for the news article
Simi Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 He is also required to surrender his passport when Aldershot or England are playing matches abroad.
Daggers Posted 9 April 2009 Author Posted 9 April 2009 Seriously - what the fuck do they mean by 'taunting'? I can't find another reference to this case aside from a link to this...but there's no reference to it in the write-up of his court appearance. I see one reference to 'goading' which could be construed as having violent overtones but not taunting. Taunting is waving your arse at someone, taunting is cocking a snook. You can't be banned from events because of taunting. You watch, this weekend taunters across the land will be incarcerated, watch out fellow taunters: stick to phrases like "Play up you Blues!" and "Jolly good show, what!" or there'll be hell to pay.
Guest Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 stick to phrases like "Play up you Blues!" and "Jolly good show, what!" or there'll be hell to pay. I'd fooking love it if we could get those chants started
lou Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 What exactly would an Aldershot fan have to taunt someone about anyway? Just a town full of squaddies
C-man Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 I assume 'taunting' in this case is the same as 'gesticulating'. I've been thrown out for making wanker signs at Cov fans before. I went to court for that.

Seems fair to me (making signs at Cov fans not you being done!) ..... if thats the case then half the stadium should be up in court after every game
Sir Fynwy Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 Seems fair to me (making signs at Cov fans not you being done!) ..... if thats the case then half the stadium should be up in court after every game 'Gesturing' to away fans is one of the plods favourites, they'll even say you've been doing them when you haven't just to throw you out (in my case i'm talking about 1284 if the plod take a look on here).
Corky Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 Just a shame it wasn't at Millwall. They'd have no fans left.
hairy Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 When the away fans abuse Jobber for being a fat bastard is that considered discrimination? And when they hurl abuse such as Danny Baker is a fat tosser or Raj is a twat, is that considered discrimination or taunting? I've seen loads of fans get kicked out to flicking 'V's or singing to rival fans over the years. Its nothing new but I have never seen anyone removed for singing who ate all the pies etc which is far more offensive if you are fat and haven't even had a pie that day
SystonFox Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 when we played fulham in the cup few seasons back and lost 4-3 i abused their goalkeeper a hell of a lot as i was on the front row. at one point he turned round and smiled cos he was taking it on the chin like a decent bloke. it was tony warner im so ashamed of myself now

Unless you get a Eric Cantona Kung Fu kick.

Applauded us at the end even though hed been questioned about the location of his caravan all half.
Koke Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 Footballers should expect it and being thick skinned is part and parcel of the job. Unless you get a Eric Cantona Kung Fu kick. Like Jason Manford said, if I was a footballer on 50k a week I would happily take all the abuse from fans. I would even stay for another half an hour to receive further abuse.

I'm going to grow a moustache and start wearing a flat cap to games from now on. Bully for the Fosse!

Guest Bilo Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 Pathetic. Yet more evidence of football fans being persecuted by the authorities. Perhaps we should all sit down in silence, so the only sound in stadia is that of the chewing of prawn sarnies.
Ultra Posted 9 April 2009 Posted 9 April 2009 The ban hasn't been made just because the guy's a jerk. It's the fact he's often a drunken jerk that the court objects to. Imagine a six-foot, nastier version of Bernie and you'll get the picture.
