Guest ttfn Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 For what it's worth, I was a Man United fan until I was 17 (late developer!). Anyway the whole business really pisses me off now I've seen the light. I live in north London these days and popped into my local to watch the second half of the United v Spurs game when I saw that they were 2-0 down, hoping that Spurs would hang on to keep the title race alive. The saddest part was that I wasn't even surprised when I saw that the vast majority of the pub were Man United fans. Listening to their ridiculous celebrations, sparked by what was sub-League one refereeing made me sick.
Corky Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I know that people don't always come from the place where their team is based, but there is usually some kind of association, like family, or work, or uni, whatever. But so many fans of the big teams that I know haven't even been to Manchester or Liverpool or London, let alone have any association at all. I was once told "why would you want to support a side that isn't going to win anything?" I wouldn't swap being a City fan for anything! I'm a glory-hunter. If I supported my home town team I'd get League 1 football next season instead of this
Lovejoy Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 Jesus fcuking Christ, the facebook updates are working overtime. Clueless cvnts, the lot of them .

Ultra Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Most glory hunters are the types that would rather jerk off over unattainable figures on the net or in porn mags than engage in face-to-face, flesh-and-blood relationships with real persons of the opposite sex. They're sad people trying to come to terms with their own inadequacies. We should treat them with pity rather than envy.

Exactly, I've always thought supporting Man Utd - and being from, say, Leicester, is kind of like having a photograph of Angelina Jolie in your wallet and telling people it's your wife. These guys are just liars, they are try and make out they are not glory hunters by saying things like "I supported Man U when they were 5 in the league" - pathetic. I mean, when 'their' team wins, they must feel nothing. When Man Utd win the league - nothing. I can't imagine the joy I'd feel if Leicester actually won the Premiership. Think I'd probably go into an orgoma (orgasm coma).
Guest Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 A colleague of mine has just come up to me and said "you support Man U don't you?" I simply closed my applications to show her my LCFC Champions 08/09 wallpaper
Koke Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 It's mostly the ethnic minorities who support Manure, Arsenal etc. The Indians, Pakistanis, Somalis, Kurds I know all support a team in the big 4. I think if you are a white Caucasian you are more likely to support your local team due to family history, pride and heritage.
flanimal Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 It's weird you say that, 'cause it's often true... but you get shitloads of white glory seekers. I don't understand personally.

Koke Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 hmm i'm of a 'ethnic minority' and i support my local team..I think you'll find that glory supporters come from all nations, colours and creeds etc.. That's why I said "mostly". I'm an ethnic minority as well, so we're both in the same boat.

I do see where your coming from...alot of my mates support utd or liverpool, p*sses me right off..then they have the nerve to say 'well i kind of support leicester to', how the fcuk can you split your passion for a club just like that? just dont make sense to me..
flanimal Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I knew a guy whose dad was English and whose mum was French, and he genuinely supported England and France, but at club level you support one club only. It's fine to have a club that you like, but support , no. I hate glory hunters. Usually nobs.
CosbehFox Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I had a six month loan spell supporting Leeds whilst my brother spent two seasons supporting Liverpool until one fateful day when I took my own mardy out on his Liverpool posters. It was nasty at the time but I am now happy with the outcome as is he.

Tomassi Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I'm a Leicester fan... But when i grew up i supported Liverpool. Dean Saunders was my hero when i was 5 years old and still have the kit with the 3 stripes over the shoulders and CANDY on the front, I didnt know anything about City until my dad took me to a game in 1993 vs Bristol City where we won 3-0, 2 Speedie Strikes and a Joachim solo. Leicester are my first team, had a season ticket last year and have been to many away games in the past, but I still follow Liverpool as they were my early childhood team, and have been to Anfield twice in the last year. Does this make me a glory supporter?

Matt Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Had to laugh today! I wore my Leicester jacket to work today (Mostly Forest fans there - I personally due to location don't have a problem with Forest - They have abit of moan about Leicester though) but there is one Liverpool fan there, he shouted over to me "Leicester? You've got a CV postcode"....He's a fooking Liverpool fan (not from Liverpool)
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I've done the rounds, Blackburn, Liverpool, Man Utd, Leeds, Arsenal, all when I was a kid. All for about a week each, glory supporting just doesn't give anyone the same buzz as supporting a team you genuinely like.
Fosse Boy Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 FAO girls I know on facebook. Ronaldo doesn't play from Man U anymore so you're not obliged to "support" them nowadays. Stop embarrassing yourselves.
C-man Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 My faves are the 'Scousers' who have made this group - LIVERPOOL IN EUROPE UNITED ARENT The same 'Scousers' who earlier claimed the Europa was too tinpot to take seriously.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Had to post on this. True story = My brother was about 7, school holidays, my mum took him to my uncle's (Massive Arsenal Fan) Proper fan goes to games supported them 30 odd year etc. In a day he took my brother to the park for a kick about, Chippy for dinner and to the pub in the afternoon for a coke and game of pool . He returned an Arsenal fan. Still claims to be one, Never been to Highbury or Emirates, Never knows who the next game is against or what the last result was. Hes now 13 and for the first time I heard him say I prefer Leicester the other day. Good decision, He has been to the Walkers several times, Knows all the players anyway and can go with his mates. Know your roots is what I say
