To be fair, if the Liverpool 'fan' knew anything either, h/she would know that Liverpool had won the League/European Cup double three times (77,78,84), and the League/UEFA Cup double twice (73,76).

Are you sure?

I think you'll find the 1978 league winners were from a little closer to home.. :(

Does my head in still loads of them in this town, don't like to talk about football with them.

Watching football in a pub is always good, but when your surrounded by idiots its shite. Its not the fact that they support one of the big four its just if i asked a United, Arsenal, Liverpool fan who Tom Cleverley, Kerrea Gilbert and Jack Hobbs are they wouldnt have a clue.

On a whole I agree with you but one of mates who is a United fan knows his stuff and when I asked him about Tom Cleverley he actually knew quite abit about him, although Sky is his idea of watching his team if there is such a thing he is a 'proper' United fan, at least he knows his stuff on United and he knows his knowledge on football as a whole, he is open minded to football and takes notice of other teams, e.t.c. He is the only person who supports a 'top 4' team who I can take seriously.

I think the translation is as follows:

LOLLL LIVERPOOL = SHITTEST TEAM EVER.. NO TROPHIES LAST SEASON.. NO TROPHIES THIS SEASON.. GET ITTTTT !! COMPARED TO UNITED WHO WON CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND PREMIERSHIP LAST SEASON.. AND ARE GOING TO WIN PREMIERSHIP THIS SEASON AND HAVE ALREADY WON CARLING CUP AND WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CUP AND CHARITY SHIELD MOTHER ****ERSSSSSS!!

Laugh out loud. Liverpool are the worst team in history. They won no trophies last season, or this season. Do you understand? This is in comparison to Manchester United who won the Premiership and Champions League last season and will most probably win the Premiership this season in addition to the Carling Cup, World Championship Cup, and Charity Shield, so there.

liverpool liverpoool liverpoooooolll

haha haha hha haahaa utdddd r wakkkk told u once told u twice told u three times bout time u got tooo knnoooooowwwwww!!!!

Liverpool, Liverpool, Liverpool.

Ha ha, United aren't very good. I told you once, infact I told you twice. Hell, I told you three times, you should know by now.

LOLLL CHILL U CAN TAKE THE WIN, VAN DE SAR PROBS FELT SORRY FOR LIVERPOOL, BESIDES U AINT WON NO TROPHIES, N U AINT GNA WIN SHIT THIS YEAR EITHER CUZ UR MANAGERS A SHITHOLE ALEX FERGUSON IS GOD WHICH IS WHY HE GUIDED US TO THE PREMIERSHIP N CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LAST SEASON MMM WEN HAVE LIVERPOOL EVER DONE THAT? MMMM LET ME THINK .. IM GNA BE HERE FOR A WHILE UNO SO HUSH UR MOUTH

Laugh out loud. Don't worry. You can take the win as Van De Sar probably felt sorry for Liverpool. Besides, you haven't won no trophies, and you aren't going to win any faeces this year, either. This is because your manager is of toilet quality, whereas Alex Ferguson is actually the father of Christ. This can be shown by the winning of the Premiership and Champions League last season. I've been racking my mighty football brain, but I just can't see that Liverpool have ever achieved this. I'll be here for a while if you wish to contribute to our wonderful discussion further.

None of my friends post stupid status updates like that, who the hell do you people know?!

I've been wondering the same thing.

Some of them grow out of it too thankfully, and realise they've wasted their youth "supporting" a team to whom they've never really had a genuine connection. It's usually when they get to that age where they start seeing their mates going off together on a Saturday to some far flung part of the country to cheer on their team, while they're stuck in their living room glued to Sky Sports. Then it begins to dawn on them what they're missing out on.

I don't begrudge anyone the right to support any team for any given reason, but I'm glad that I support who I support, and have never harboured any thoughts of following anyone else since I was five years old.

I must say though I do find it quite patronising and condescending when these kinds of people "cheer on" their little local side Leicester City for a bit of a joke, while at the same time citing their religious views on facebook as "Chelsea FC" or something equally pukeworthy.

Leicester City FC is my Religious View on Facebook... lol

I definitely agree... i followed United till i was about 13 'cos my dad supports them... however i went to one Leicester game (Against Luton Town i think, we drew 0-0, Iwan Roberts hit the bar with a point-blank header...) and i was converted...

I'm glad this happened or i would be one of those people glued to sky sports sat in my lounge in my replica jersey... lol

But thankfully i have been to most of the Leicester games this season, have enjoyed every minute of it... (except the Millwall game at the Walkers) and took part in the Trophy celebrations, as opposed to watching match of the day, 7 hours later and wanking majestically over a Berbatov penalty...

SO GLAD I SAW THE LIGHT!!!!!

This is what its about being a fan of a 'proper' team. All season I have felt it really, being proud of your team, celebrations, e.t.c, Nothing a plastic fan will ever feel, their loss though, and nothing that hasn't been said before.

I love how much he recognizes how the penalty decision had no influence on the game whatsoever.

Listening to five live phone in is hilarious. "This is Patrick from Dublin, a Man United fan".

Football Focus at lunchtime featured voxpops with two Irish and a cockney Manure fan out of the three spoken to.

I was about to post that, very funny, same on SSN when they interview the fans of Top 4 clubs they are clearly NEVER from where the team they support are from.

I know that people don't always come from the place where their team is based, but there is usually some kind of association, like family, or work, or uni, whatever. But so many fans of the big teams that I know haven't even been to Manchester or Liverpool or London, let alone have any association at all. I was once told "why would you want to support a side that isn't going to win anything?" I wouldn't swap being a City fan for anything!

Maybe it's lazyness on Sky Sports part.

'Hmm, we need reaction to this semi-interesting Manchester United related story. Steve, have a wander around outside for ten minutes, you're bound to find some mug'

Yeah, I mean i'm one to talk tbh, I sometimes forget i'm closer to Covscum than Leicester and could so easily have become a Covscum fan without the guidence of my dad!

I think I said this earlier in this thread but I was a Man Utd fan as a little kid, but my dad started taking me to reserve Leicester matches as he got free tickets so took me, then when I was abit older he started taking me to proper matches, and then got to a certain age must have been I dunno between 9 - 11 and realised what are the chance of going to see Man Utd regularly, then focussed on Leicester and the rest is history.

People have to differentiate between genuine fans and casual fans - You guys are genuine hardcore fans, whilst Andy, the Man Utd fan from Colchester is just a casual fan.
