Tottenham receive bid for Gunter

Gunter helped maintain Nottingham Forest's Championship status

An unnamed Championship club have moved to secure the services of Tottenham and Wales international full-back Chris Gunter, BBC Sport Wales understands.

The club are believed to want to buy him, although they are also keen on a season-long loan.

Gunter, 19, joined Spurs from Cardiff for about £3m in January 2008 but has made only three Premier League appearances this season.

He joined Nottingham Forest on loan in March and impressed at the City Ground.

Newport-born Gunter said in April he had enjoyed the move and he did not rule out a return to the club.

"It's a fantastic club with brilliant people and it couldn't have gone any better," said Gunter, who went on to help Forest maintain their Championship status.

"I'm contracted to Spurs, but if they tell me to go for a season on loan then it's something to consider."

I'm just glad were not after some of the players Derby are :sweating: . Do they have no money? There after an Illkeston Central Midfielder now, that guy who got tore apart for Crewe by Dyer and an unknown Burton Defender :unsure::giggle: .

Maybe their some of the players taht Nigel Clough knows well and he thinks they would do a job as squad players? He was at Burton after all.

And it would be Forest, they wanted to sign him and I think he wanted to go there.

If we're signing players, I want players that are better or as good as what we already have. Or, if they have real potential to improve. Lee Hughes doesn't strike me as that.

That Burton chap played for Mansfield's relegation side too. At either of our clubs I doubt it'd be greeted with too much enthusiasm.

Gunter was quality for us at the end of the season and I just hope we can get him back. We'd had CBs playing as full backs all season and regularly got our ar$es handed to us down the flanks.

Incidentally Forest are after signing adebola too. Something that I'm less excited about.

Possibly i suppose, But they hardly finished with a flurish you would think they need first team players. I personally would'nt want many if any of there players here.

yea, It doesn't fill many of us with a great sense of joy. It's all but done apparently. I hope it's not because we couldn't get Blackstock. He did some great work for us at the end of the season.

I was looking on the Bristol City website to see anything about that goalkeeper and there's a thread about Adebola loving him off :giggle: wondering who they could replace him with.

He somehow managed to be their top scorer last year but he's something like 33 so it'll all downhill from now on, and lets face it. He's no Andrew Cole. :frusty:

Owain Fon Williams is set to finalise a move away from Stockport County on a free transfer, skysports.com understands.

The Welsh goalkeeper has one year left on his current deal at Edgeley Park, but the financial troubles at the club mean he can now leave.

Stockport have recently gone into administration and Williams has not had his wages paid for a set period and regulations mean he is free to move.

Worth a punt if hes free me thinks.

Barry Ferguson has been mentioned as Rangers want to get rid.

Mark Bunn in and Gavin Hoyte loan deal is inevitable.

Where did you get this? Cox deal seems to be breaking down if newss strories are to be believed, and same with N'Guessan. Fergusan is a good player, but why would he come to Leiceser? He's Premier League standard. This is the same kind of rumour as Joey Barton.

Bunn, though, now that is believable!

Rangers want to sell Ferguson because of the whole gestures thing whilst with the Scotland National side and premier league sides are thought of not wanting to gamble on him becasue of his failure last time out with Blackburn Rovers. Therefore Championship is the next best level and Pearson is thought to of been admirer of his. I never said anything about Joey Barton because he is Premisership standard. Cox wants to come they just cant agree a fee, but we're supposed to be going back in with another bid thought to be in the region of 1.25 mil. Bunn enjoyed his time here and wants to come back and we're getting Hoyte on loan because we can't get Gilbert again so he's next best thing.
