Salieri Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 When two sets of opposition fans can come together and put any rivalries to one side and basically have a laugh. The Cheltenham fans were obviously great but our fans and the club as a whole come out of this season with great credit, and that makes me proud.
CosbehFox Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 Saturday made me feel proud. We did a professional job but confirmed relegated for Crewe. We didn't rub it in their noses, we had a laugh and then had a good time outside. It's an attitude Lids or Forest should have adopted in this division.

There are times it's fairly appropriate to clap the opposition, getting up after a genuinely serious injury or going off after a fairly pretty monumental performance deserves most people's respect. There might be an entire way of life that comes along with football - but it's still a game. It's our recreation, we're supposed to enjoy it. If you really enjoy doing nothing but screaming abuse and being an utter willy puller to people then you're probably a bit of a nob, really.

What a cunt. Are you 12 or something? All posts I enjoyed. Taking the piss a bit isn't the same as genuinely disliking the other team's supporters for no reason other than they're football fans. Being in a league where people appreciate being a fan a bit more brings that home.

A good well run family club who have contributed to the game enormously. Why we should rub their misfortunes it in their faces, I don't know. We're not rivals, there's nothing there but mutual respect between both clubs. I fail to comprehend why that is such a bad thing. It's not as if we are holding hands with Cov fans and swapping shirts afterwards.

I am all for a bit of MMMMMMMMMMMMMMILLLLLLLLLLLL atmosphere etc. but after spending Saturday after Saturday carted around like cattle in previous seasons when visiting away grounds, it makes a refreshing change for fans to appreciate each other's banter etc. Finnegan's last couple of lines some it up very well. As for this friendship nonsense, I'll think you'll find most of Central and Eastern Europe does it but with a lot more vigour (scarves, flare displays etc). Then they have their rivalries too.
