Thracian Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 Dickov had his chance, He threw it in our faces, some may give him a second chances, many other won't - I'm one of them. If he was 10 and in Britain's Got Talent he wouldn't hae a shout on here.
scinnell Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 Dickov is Dickov, a hardworking footballer that football fans like to see. And although he has only scored 3 (I think!), I really like him and I think some people were expecting to much of him, which is fine as he scored for fun at Blackpool last season. But he is 36/37 isn't he? and I mean he is not going to offer much more than what he did when he first came to the club in 2002 at his tender age. He has had a back injury, a bad injury that put him out for a few months so he hasen't appeared consistently. Now come on, how can he b fit this season? A back injury is very serious and hard to get over never mind play football at League 1 level. But, he has scored one of the more essential goals this season; Colchester at home. And I tell you what, that was a great goal. It may not have been struck from 30 yards out but he had to control the ball quickly and on his chest before tapping it home. He also made the corner at home to Leeds when Stevie Howard netted. He started the near revive at Craven Cottage in the Carling Cup as well as scoring the third against Leyton Orient (yes, I know it was a penelty but a goal is a goal!) I hope he stays on for another season, as his contract says, he may not be Torres or David Villa, but he offers a decent back-up to whatever strike force plays and he is a general pest. - One that will get on defenders nerves. Good luck to Paul Dickov and I hope he stays on in the future, wether it be a player or a coach. good comment mate nice to know im not alone on the side thinking paul dickov has a lot more to offer
scinnell Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 He smokes so I've got no sympathy. dont be so pathetic if he did smoke do you think he will still be playing footy at 37? idiot
Cat Burger Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 dont be so patheticif he did smoke do you think he will still be playing footy at 37? idiot Oh really sorry I didn't see what I thought I saw then, must've had something else in his mouth that time outside the Loaded dog, like your cock, the one on your head. Idiot.
Cat Burger Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 I meant Soar Point after the Leeds game, does anyone know why you can't edit posts anymore?
lavrentis Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 dont be so patheticif he did smoke do you think he will still be playing footy at 37? idiot Well he is quite small and I have heard smoking stunts your height so its plausible .

Red Leicester Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 Regardless of anyone's opinion - he's here for another year before being released.

The Doctor Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 Regardless of anyone's opinion - he's here for another year before being released. unless some other club decides that they have a vacancy for an over the hill, aggressive scotsman who travels the country to waste space.
HarboroughFox90 Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 He was a good player, hungry and a good scorer but hes passed it shouldnt of wasted money on it
ACF Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 yh at least the cock on my heads bigger than yours ooooooo You questioned his cock size. *hi-5* No. Just no. Not funny, not even clever. Dickwank. Fudging Retard. Go back to your bus shelter.
Cat Burger Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 yh at least the cock on my heads bigger than yours ooooooo Bernd Schneider ist ein Kettenraucher und have a read of this... http://www.theoffside.com/leagues/england/...who-smoked.html
Fox92 Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 He was a good player, hungry and a good scorer but hes passed it shouldnt of wasted money on it This may seem stupid but who else have we got and who else could we of got when we signed him. Sure, he's not as good as he was and all that what you said but I prefer him to the other back up players. When we signed him we had Hayles, Chambers and DJ for back up (anymore? I can only think of those 3). Now Barry Hayles is useless we all now it. He may be a hardworker at times but is quite frankly rubbish, therefore he was loaned to Cheltenham and then released. Ashley Chambers shows promise at times but surely he would be pushing for the first team/bench now. I am not doubting his attributes because of course he has had some bad injuries. Is he injury-prone? DJ Campbell is not good enough. To be frank, I don't like him and he didn't do anything really. He may have scored a few at Blackpool but he has said that he doesn't want to return to Leicester. And, who else was there to get at that time? Just relegated to League 1 so why would players want to join unless they were already in League 1 or lower. To be honest, he may be poor, but he has had a very bad injury which is hard to overcome. He scored against Colchester which was essential. He also, in my eyes, won the penelty against Southend at Roots Hall when we were promoted as his challange led to the ball spinning up into the air and then back off of the ground onto the defenders arm for the penelty. He scored at Fulham which sparked the almost near comeback and a penely against Leyton Orient.
Ultra Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 There were probably better strikers out there who could have been snapped up for far less than Dickov would have asked for. I doubt he'll play in more than half a dozen games for us in the Championship. He won't be able to cut it there any more.
andy_croydz Posted 15 June 2009 Posted 15 June 2009 Ok so people on here are saying Dickov is sh*t and hes passed it... I don't get though how he can score something like 8 goals in 12 starts for Blackpool in the Championship and then come to City and not do as well the season after in a lower division? He did have to have spine surgery not long into the season with us, maybe thats what affected his form thereafter? I am p*ssed off with people calling him sh*t, does no one understand that it's most likely the spinal injury/surgery that ruined most of the season for him? True that he is past his best and age has been a factor in that but believe that had it not been for that spinal injury he would have scored more than he did this season.
Ultra Posted 15 June 2009 Posted 15 June 2009 Injury or not, the fact was that in too many games last season, Dickov was a shadow of his previous self. He picked up more bookings than goals - never an attractive feature in a striker. Given the money he's on, we're quite entitled to ask what his role at the club is.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 15 June 2009 Posted 15 June 2009 iam a mate of pauls i grew up with him in livingston! Ive came on this forum to find out how hes playing with leicester he is a good player he plays for the jersey i hope ure all looking after him are you sure your not really him in the hope to have your ego massaged??

He picked up more bookings than goals - never an attractive feature in a striker. Given the money he's on, we're quite entitled to ask what his role at the club is. That is true but I don't like seeing someone who was a big help in getting us back to the premiership in 2002-2003 being called sh*t. I admit he is not as good as he was 4 years ago but the point I make is this... A player can't score something like 8 goals in 12 starts for Blackpool in the Championship and then drop a division lower about 4 months later and all of a sudden go sh*t. He scored some top quality goals for Blackpool last season, some of them were 25 yard volleys and deft lobs over the keeper, they weren't flukes or tap in's. It must have been the back injury and surgery that affected his game thereafter, he feared he would never play again at one point. I agree you have a right to question the fact he's on the kind of wages that we could have spent on someone who scored more goals last season but I still like Dickov. Football fans are really fickle, after all the goals he scored and hard work he gave for us on the pitch in his first stint for the club... We forget about all of it and just lay into him like he's a piece of dirt <_<

But how many of those were penalties? Maybe like DJ Cambell, on the face of it DJ did well for Blackpool, but a good percentage of his goals were penalties. Dickov was a super player & very well liked by the fans, first time around, but I think in hindsight, it was a mistake to bring him back.

We forget about all of it and just lay into him like he's a piece of dirt <_< Like when he treated us, the fans, the people who paid/pay his wages, the people who supported him through the scandal of La Manga, only to throw it back in our faces when he tells us he is definetly staying next season only weeks later to leave, and if you believe the rumours he had already bought ready for a move weeks before the end of the season - No source or rock solid truth in that but it made and makes sense. At the end of the day they are football, we are the paying customer, obviously it's different to being a customer of 'normal products' as you support the club, but we pay their wages, and if at the end of the day we want the best for 'our club', no matter what they have done in the past for us, you can't afford passengers, and just because of his past with us we can't play him if he is poor nowadays. As mentioned in this thread, he lost alot of respect from me and many others. Thracian, stop hacking people's accounts in an attempt to provoke a response by posting shit. I thought it was Dickov himself hacking into accounts tbh.
