Matt Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 SSN Breaking News; Aston Villa confirm Gareth Barry in talks with Manchester City.
Fox You Forest Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 I thought he wanted to play CL football if he were to leave Villa. £££ I see it also says on SSN that Denilson who not all that long ago was the worlds most expensive footballer has signed for Hai Phong Cement in Vietnam.

Well it might just be that City have made a bid Villa couldn't refuse. It says nothing about Barry agreeing terms. That said, if they offer stupid money, no-one would begrudge him leaving...

The hell with Barry. But your Denilson comment struck me. What a fall from grace. My favourite Denilson quote: On David Beckham: "He's pretty. So he's very lucky: he's both a footballer AND pretty. I'm this ugly and still the women are all over me".
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Overated player. Rather have Stephen Ireland and Kompany then him.
Koke Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Incredibly over-rated. I'm not interested in the slightest where Barry goes.
Lovejoy Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Incredibly over-rated. I'm not interested in the slightest where Barry goes. Don't lie Kareem, you were loving the summer long will he won't he last year with him and Ronaldo . Still, it'd be nice if it wasn't the same two players again this summer .
Granno Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 I couldn't see how he would fit into Liverpool's team last Summer. If he wants to sell out for mega cash, then good luck to him I guess.
dandannieldanok Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 I thought Man City would at least go for some exciting players, not the likes of Gareth Barry. <_<
Corky Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 How? They'll get someone in who won't have transfer rumours hanging over him and will be totally focused on helping Villa. Barry had a good season, but there was always a feeling he would go.
MarkDeVries Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Only has One year left on his contract Not even that, he can buy himself out of his contract in November? Anyway, I think Barry is a good player and should be good for Man City, not £90,000 a week good though
TrickyTrev Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Overated player.Rather have Stephen Ireland and Kompany then him. Well Stephen Ireland is an attacking midfield player and I think Kompany's best position is at centre back. De Jong and Barry sounds like a decent standard defensive midfield partnership.
dandannieldanok Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Surprised it's gone through this quickly, don't really see why he's gone tbh. Yes his wages have probably been doubled or something silly but most of that is cut off by tax.

I think Aston Villa have probably had their best season and Man City are a far better bet to start challenging the big 4. Not sure Barry adds too much to the equation, but he is a good enough footballer and he adds legitimacy to their ambitions.
