davieG Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 The sister of a leading Leicester City player has been named the new Miss Blaby. Robyn Mattock, whose brother Joe is a Leicester City defender, has been crowned after competing against 13 other girls from the Blaby district. The 16-year-old, who is doing her GCSEs at Guthlaxton College, in Wigston, now hopes to become a model. Robyn, from Glen Parva, said: "It was my first time doing anything like this and I never thought I had the courage for it. "But it's been really exciting. I love the job because you get to meet so many new people." Robyn has been getting to grips with her new responsibilities quickly, finding time between her exams to open a fete, sell kisses for charity and hand out trophies to young footballers. Other activities in her year ahead will include scuba diving and clay pigeon shooting. Robyn is beginning a two-year dancing course at Studio 79, in Churchgate, Leicester, and would like to get into modelling. She said: "It's really exciting having won and getting to wear the crown. "I'd like to have a go at modelling now."

Cat Burger Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I was there and I recorded her speech, it was quite moving: "I'm really happy to have been given this honour, it was scary coming up here to receive the award, and it hurt with every heart beat, but I didn't look back, it actually felt like I was dying with every step I took, but I didn't look back. Please join me in helping to do some good in Leicestershire this year, we could keep trying but things will never change, but we CAN'T look back. Things can be, just a little bit better.
