MarkDeVries Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 City Withdrawn interest in Simon Cox, so say Sky Sports. Finally, it's over. This isn't really worthy of a new thread but what the hell.
teblin Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Withdrawn interest in Simon Cox, so say Sky Sports. Finally, it's over. This isn't really worthy of a new thread but what the hell. I just saw that too. don't want to spend too much money by the looks of it.
Finchy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5389042,00.html Not sure it's over, they are just saying they won't pay over the odds for him.

Not sure if thats the same thing. As thats lee hoos saying its alot of money Rather than a "sky sports source" saying we're no longer interested. Was on the TV channel not the website
Solihullfox Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Just saw a line on Sky Sports News saying that they understand we have withdrawn interest in signing Simon Cox !!!!!
Finchy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 ...Ah right well fair enough, could have been a good signing but 2.5 is to much money for a risk.
Corky Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Shame but we shouldn't be held to ransom and pay over the odds.
Burnsy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 When you have a wage cap of £10,000 then it will be also hard to attract the likes of simon cox to the club.
Bakey Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 When you have a wage cap of £10,000 then it will be also hard to attract the likes of simon cox to the club. Would have been disapointed if we would have signed him for more than 2 mil.
MC Prussian Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Should this news be true, it can only mean that there are still some remaining and healthy brain cells inside the LCFC management heads.
Finnegan Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Should this news be true, it can only mean that there are still some remaining and healthy brain cells inside the LCFC management heads. He could well turn out to be a bargain at £2.5m, how would we know, really? I'm not saying we should pay anything for him or even buy him at all - I've seen him play once - but I do think people passing judgement on here are just largely blowing hot air out of their arse.
teblin Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 2.5 million was alot of money for a league one player. even though i was very impressed with him. Hopefully we're looking elsewhere for less cash may be abroad?
J.Lisemore Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Glad this is over now. Someone from abroad would be nice.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Hoos was spot on in my view...£2.5m for a player untested outside League 1 is a hell of a lot. Perhaps not worth the risk? Time will tell if/when he moves to another club. For the same price I'd suggest we could someone of better/proven ability?
Maybes Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 When you have a wage cap of £10,000 then it will be also hard to attract the likes of simon cox to the club. Where's that come from?
MarkDeVries Posted 19 June 2009 Author Posted 19 June 2009 When you have a wage cap of £10,000 then it will be also hard to attract the likes of simon cox to the club. So we would pay Cox more than 10,000 a week? Are you having a giraffe?
alex Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Someone from abroad would be nice. Yeah, like Neilson, Kaebi etc...
MarkDeVries Posted 19 June 2009 Author Posted 19 June 2009 Yeah, like Neilson, Kaebi etc... Scotland's abroad. fook me.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 KIA Said it was an almost done deal.i think the problem could be with not off loading DJ.
Finnegan Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 KIA Said it was an almost done deal.i think the problem could be with not off loading DJ. I highly doubt we're getting a substantial enough amount from DJ to change our decision on Cox, Swindon just want too much. KIA is usually right but that doesn't mean he's always certain. He said that himself. He had spoken to Cox and Cox seemed positive but footballers' futures aren't always in their own hands. It's just one of those things. If it's not to be it's not to be but no doubt this will go on all summer or until he's bought by someone else so I'd just calm down and exercise some patience if I were you.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 If he was to get 20 odd goals in the coming season, it would be more than worth it IMO. But fair play for not being stupid enough to just go and pay any sum of money.
Head Honcho Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Hypothetical I know but he was never gonna pay his way for 2.5 million. A million maybe but no way would he bang in 2.5 millions worth!
Jonezy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 We tried to get him fairly cheap, didn't work, so lets move on to the next target.
