lavrentis Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Why did I sky+ this rubbish????????????????? Don't know
Yojoe36 Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Shite episode They should just let Clarkson sit down for an hour, and talk about politics, and about the state that the country is in Now that would be entertaining.
AdamN Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I think that would have been a good episode 3-4 years ago, but the problem now is that a lot of the jokes have been rehashed from previous episodes, so while they're still funny in their own right, they're just getting old and predictable now. At least back then you weren't quite sure how much of it they were putting on, but now it's obvious that every little bit has been staged in some way. I have agree with this: I used to be a HUGE fan but I do think it's had it's day now and they should quit whilst they are (relatively) ahead
ousefox Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I thought it was quality tbh, but then i have no interest in cars and only ever watch the xmas specials because of where they go.

Rincewind Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I'm not a fan of Top Gear. I find Jeramy Clarkson so irritating. I can't think of the word to describe him. He think he is IT sod everyone else.
Jimmy Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 he actually doesn't but he knows he winds people up to plays to it, he knows exactly what his appeal is
Jace Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I love Top Gear but now refusing to watch it as I am a Civil Servant, **** you Clarkson I will have the last laugh when you are cancelled
Jimmy Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 he was right, its nearly impossible for you lot to get sacked and you have the nerve to think everyone else has to suffer in this economy but you. Top Gear won't get canceled in makes a shed load in licensing fee from abroad for the BBC, only way it ends is if all 3 quit

Are you serious?
Jimmy Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 So he was right Civil Servants should be taken outside and executed in front of their families? Are you serious? no and neither was he, did you actually watch it or just read about it in the Daily Fail? he was asked about the strikes and gave a flippant response about traffic and then said "oh this is the BBC I need to be balanced" and gave the latter response, delivered in exactly the same flippant tone. All this fake outrage at everything pisses me off, the One show's figures must be huge judging by how many people got mad at this interview

Jimmy Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Yeah ok I do see your point it was twisted in the media, its still not something you should say though on TV regardless of who he is mocking and yet its EXACTLY the sort of thing Clarkson is employed to say, the BBC loved this, Clarkson and Top Gear are possibly the biggest thing on BBC 2 and this was great free publicity.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I thought it was quality tbh, but then i have no interest in cars and only ever watch the xmas specials because of where they go. As someone who went there recently I thought it did a rubbish job of showing how great a country India is. So he was right Civil Servants should be taken outside and executed in front of their families? Are you serious? Did you see the clip? As much as it pains me to stick up for Clarkson (the man's an arse) it was more a dig at how impartial the BBC has to be rather than anything against civil servants. Anyone who views it the latter way is deserves to get outraged by it for being a dolt. Sorry.
Jimmy Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 As someone who went there recently I thought it did a rubbish job of showing how great a country India is. if they'd dropped the "trade mission" gimmick and just driven across India it would of been much better
Libertine Dream Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Yeah ok I do see your point it was twisted in the media, its still not something you should say though on TV regardless of who he is mocking The BBC agreed beforehand he could say it apparently.
Matt Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Just another case of OTT PC, and people not being able to take critisism, a joke and banter. People need to get abit tougher me thinks.
Finnegan Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 So he was right Civil Servants should be taken outside and executed in front of their families? Are you serious? Man the **** up. I'm a ferocious lefty, a trade union member and I was on strike with everybody else; but Clarkson was not only quoted out of context but is just a known shit-stirrer whose entire sense of humour revolves around provoking knee-jerk responses from overtly PC warriors with his silly hyperbole. I do think the BBC should reign him in and show a sterner hand, a little bit of editing here and there to shut down on him spewing his politics would do his and their public profile no end of good. But he's just a bit of a braindead oaf, he's not the second coming of Hitler. I like Top Gear and I generally don't take offence to his ramblings, even when they're aimed "at me." I just tend to roll my eyes and shake my head.
Jimmy Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 careful Finners with a level headed response like that the trade union bosses will want your resignation from the union
Finnegan Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 careful Finners with a level headed response like that the trade union bosses will want your resignation from the union It's alright, I'll car bomb a member or two of management to even things out.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 if they'd dropped the "trade mission" gimmick and just driven across India it would of been much better What annoyed me most was that they went through the Himalayas and the map showed them passing through Shimla but they didn't stop there! There's a monkey temple where you have to take a stick to stop the monkeys attacking you!!!!!!! And it looks like a 1920s English village!!!!! Fuming. And if they'd headed towards the Pakistan border instead of the Chinese border they could have seen the Golden Temple in Amritsar. IT'S A TEMPLE PLATED IN GOLD!!! GOOOOOOLD! And the closing of the guard ceremony at the border nearby is like something out of Monty Python's Ministry of Silly Walks except with hundreds of people cheering on from each country from stands built for the purpose! ARGH. I spend a lot of the time getting furious. Oh, and there are so many better places in Rajasthan than Jaipur! ARGH
Alexikokopops Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 It's alright, I'll car bomb a member or two of management to even things out. Ok, so you're car bombing, Clarkson's shooting them in front of their families, what do I get to do?
Jimmy Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Ok, so you're car bombing, Clarkson's shooting them in front of their families, what do I get to do? to hang them both as punishment?
Finnegan Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Ok, so you're car bombing, Clarkson's shooting them in front of their families, what do I get to do? Don a beret, grow out a bit of stubble and stand around looking renegade chic?
Rincewind Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I like satire but the trouble I find with Clarkson as opposed to other satirists is he seems to be too natural. He is like it with everyone and says things with a nasty smirk on his face. I must admit though that I have sometimes smiled at what he says and in retrospect and taken in context the remark about Civil Servants was not as bad as it appeared but I still find the man irritating.
