Alexikokopops Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Don a beret, grow out a bit of stubble and stand around looking renegade chic? SOLD!
Finnegan Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I like satire but the trouble I find with Clarkson as opposed to other satirists is he seems to be too natural. He is like it with everyone and says things with a nasty smirk on his face. I must admit though that I have sometimes smiled at what he says and in retrospect and taken in context the remark about Civil Servants was not as bad as it appeared but I still find the man irritating. Clarkson? Satirist? That's probably the biggest compliment he's ever been paid. SOLD! Knew you'd like that one.
Rincewind Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I wasn't sure how to categorize him. Will a smarmy git suit better?
stez Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 i've been looking out for any mentions of shooting persons, since the JC farce. there's been a few (none of which have been covered by the media) the have i got news for you, discussion of it was the best, with the presenter (that fit news reader off of ch5) suggestion someone should be killed, recently i heard, on the telly, the traffic wardens should be killed, and just last night i heard, also on telly, the chefs should be killed. if i took everything everyone said seriously, all the time, i'd probably be outraged. but i don't so i'm not.
acooling08 Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 I love Clarkson which won't surprise you. Right wing, anti PC, common sense kind of guy. Top Gear is popular because the trio of middle aged blokes causing mild offence and having a laugh in fast cars just works so well.
Yojoe36 Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Reading some comments on here... Jesus I like Clarkson anyway, because he's good at his job. Which is being entertaining. As for the politics side of things. Clarkson > Miliband

Clarkson > Miliband There's not a facepalm big enough.
Samilktray Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 I love Top Gear but now refusing to watch it as I am a Civil Servant, **** you Clarkson I will have the last laugh when you are cancelled He'll probably have the last laugh when he looks at his bank balance.
acooling08 Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 lol lol lol lol Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!! There's not a facepalm big enough. I honestly would rather have Clarkson as PM than Milliband.
Daggers Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 I'd rather have Clarkson as PM than Millibland. I'd vote for him. Clarkson is an honest to goodness cvnt whereas Ed would like to sell you lies, shit on the union members who pay his expenses and then go back on any promise he made once he gets to office. Milliband is to socialism what Gary Glitter is to the Scouting movement. As odious a fvck as Clarkson is, as monotonous and grating as his voice is, I'd rather have people who actually stand for something and believe it than the parade of cocksucking spineless fvcks who troop straight from public school to university to parliament. I could go on, I won't.

I could go on, I won't. Does he really stand for something though, or as per Stewart Lee (would post the youtube link but I'm sure its been on here many times before), does he just have opinions for money? TG has gone too far across the car show---------------entertainment show spectrum, I never thought Clarkson & cronies were particularly funny, but liked watching it for the cars. Now they are just a minor aside to the video of the trio's latest hilarious caper.
hebangsthedrums Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 Hmm, I think if you offered him the chance to put his 'opinions' into practice for x amount, or let him continue to sell books/DVD's to his fanbase for x*2 amount, I think he would plump for the latter. Granted many people would do the same, but I don't think he has anywhere near as strong as opinion on things as he portrays, but overreactions sell books/DVD's.
Rincewind Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 yes he probably would. There would also be thousands of people saying 'He's right you know, I was talking to a bloke down the pub who has a cousin living next door to that sort of person'

The Doctor Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 lol lol lol lol Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!! Not committing yourself to one side in that argument then?
Finnegan Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Not committing yourself to one side in that argument then? as I've said previously, I don't mind Clarkson, I certainly don't take him seriously enough to be particularly offended by him. But common sense!? Even his fellow presenters would laugh themselves silly at that one, the man has none. That's his entire shtick.
Saxondale Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 as I've said previously, I don't mind Clarkson, I certainly don't take him seriously enough to be particularly offended by him. But common sense!? Even his fellow presenters would laugh themselves silly at that one, the man has none. That's his entire shtick. I think you have to separate his comic shock statements from his more reasoned arguments. Regarding common sense, that's really down to whether you agree with him or not. For example, some people think that Billy Bragg speaks common sense. One thing that can't be disputed is that he is a very intelligent and well-informed bloke - but his public image is formed more by the 5% of controversial stunts and statements of his than the 95% of sensible comment.
Finnegan Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Of course he's much more intelligent than he lets on but, I'm sorry, I don't consider him particularly "well informed" and he's no kind of genius. I've had the misfortune of reading a few of his tabloid columns and they're generally woeful. Man should stick to cars, on which he's genuinely an expert.
Saxondale Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 New Series starts on Sunday Ruddy great news!
HEGGSY Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 Fvck you Clarkson taking the piss out of the Leicestershire produced noble and indirectly, Leicester itself. <_< That Italian bloke with Hammond
HEGGSY Posted 29 January 2012 Posted 29 January 2012 LCFC vs Juventus vs Woking. YOOOUUUU BLUUUEEESSS!
