I can't understand why so many people have signed a petition without knowing a shred of information.

If Clarkson was arrested for a criminal offence would people still sign such a petition?! Just because they like him regardless of what he's done?

I'm amazed as man as un PC as Clarkson lasted so long anyway at the BBC - he's the opposite of everything they are. Direct, funny, says what he thinks, carefree etc Hopefully Sky will pick up the show and give Clarkson a free reign to do what he wants, a program like Top Gear doesn't belong on that station anymore anyway.

Top Green Gear

Samantha Pillokington Burbage and Thomas Sebastian Villaneuva present the latest in eco-friendly travel including: cycling, walking, jogging. This week's feature includes a polite visit to a home for sick dogs and we'll add another word to our wall of shame - words that we think are offensive, last week it was "meat", what will it be this week? Tune in to find out.

lol

If I were you I'd pitch that to the BBC - it might even be a goer for that lot.

"Natalie Bennett tries to get back to Australia using only naturally sourced materials from Dartmoor whilst Caroline Lucas sees if her solar powered 'HMS NHS' ship will be able to rescue this week's target of stranded asylum seekers from the Mediterranean Sea"

I was saying something similar yesterday, just before the Clarkson story came out. Everyone these days thinks they are armchair judge, jury, and executioner without knowing anything, and I'm getting sick of a petition for this, a petition for that, from people with no knowledge. There's nothing wrong with people forming an opinion and discussing it, of course, in fact, healthy debate should always be encouraged, but there seems to be a wave of petitions from people that get offended from Crufts, to Clarkson, from public speakers to sportsmen/women. There are people in much better positions, that get paid to make informed decisions on these subjects. The annoying thing is, is that most of the time now, they have to listen to all these petitions otherwise they risk bad publicity.

EDIT: Or maybe I'm just being a grumpy bast*rd at the minute lol.

When WWTREY begins - and we all know it's coming - I hope that some c*&ts got one of their nukes aimed straight at the BBC.

If he gets the axe he won't be out of work long, he'll probably get his own car show on ITV. I somehow don't think BBC will replace Clarkson on top gear with anybody, they'll just stick with a double act between Hammond & May. I'm not fond of Clarkson anyway but if he does go the show will suffer.

As if some people are turning this into a crusade against political correctness. There's nothing politically incorrect about (allegedly) slugging a colleague in the workplace. lol

Katie Hopkins was just defending him on Radio 2.  She's 'really angry' about this.

Personally I'm livid.  The more people we have shouting stuff that they know is guff, getting paid for it, and thick people going 'yeah', the richer our society becomes, I think

I must say that compared to some of the many assaults I've heard about involving BBC staff that this is one of the milder cases. And at least it was mano a mano.

Top Gear was brilliant around 2007 and its OK to watch if there's nothing else on but its basically the same shit different episode now.

The clips filmed outside the main studio are more staged than those on Made in Chelsea.

Yeah your probably right there, I watched it for a short period but eventually I got bored of everything being staged and the poor script they were given to read. Too much hype for it and the amount of money the BBC spent on it.

Anyone that doesn't know it's scripted may as well just not watch anything. Even so, it's one of the most entertaining things on the BBC but if he did punch someone over a lack of catering then he hasn't got a leg to stand on.

It'll be a massive loss to the BBC so will they risk it? If they get rid of Clarkson or even Top Gear in general the chances of it getting snapped up by another media company are high aren't they? I imagine Top Gear is one of the BBC's biggest earners.

It makes too much money for the BBC not to at least try to make it with another presenter. Whether it'd succeed is another matter though.

They own the rights to the format which is what makes so much money worldwide. They won't just give it up because of one member of the 'talent' behaving like this (allegedly)

If the BBC are going to add a new presenter it will be a fascinating decision. Whoever it is can't be a white middle aged, middle class male, so it'll probably end up being someone like Ian Wright. Or a lesbian. Maybe that girl called Melissa who changed her name to jack bird. Or what about black dee! Man black dee ticks all the right boxes.

That article just feels like a giant troll and conforming to every stereotype people have of the Guardian.

I'm a Gdn reader myself. Really like the paper and I know a lot don't but they really can't help themselves with the Clarkson story. There must have been well over 10 stories published now in different forms, facets and tones from them. They know it's reader cat nip and just keep hammering it home.
