acooling08 Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Hi all, firstly I'd like to say I'm glad to be back after a while of forum lurking and computer troubles Apparently there will be 65000 deaths in the UK from swine flu this year along with many more infected. Since public places such as the walkers will have carriers I was wondering if any of you would be put off going until swine flu dies down? I would be worried since i am just 16 and I have pretty severe athsma so what do you think?

Tilley Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Unless you have other severe health problems, I think people are going ott with this Swine Flu stuff. Take a few tamiflu, a couple of paracetomol and you'll be fine.

Jon the Hat Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Apparently there will be 65000 deaths in the UK from swine flu this year along with many more infected. I think that believing a stat like that which is followed by an expected range of 3,000 to 750,000 deaths is insane. I cannot believe they actually came out and said that. Particularly as we have about 30 so far. This is extrapolation on a scale usually seen only in climate change modelling.

I would be worried since i am just 16 and I have pretty severe athsma so what do you think? I'm just a year older and I have severe asthma as well pal, and occasionally I'm a little worried about it. But I know of at least a dozen personally who've had swine flu, suffered for a day or two and recovered successfully. Providing basic hygeine i.e washing hands is followed and you don't go around sucking off pigs, I think we'll be fine. And if 65000 people will die from swine flu, which I doubt personally, that's still only 1 in every 1000 people. Still liking those odds.

Babylon Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 I still feel off... got a bloody ulcer on my throat now. That's a new one on me.
Guest Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 If what I have been suffering with for the last couple of days is swine flu, then pah! I may have to go back to bed in a bit, but it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.

It probably isn't to be honest. Have you been vomiting consistently? And can you move in and out of bed? If not, it probably isn't SF.
lou Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 It probably isn't to be honest.Have you been vomiting consistently? And can you move in and out of bed? If not, it probably isn't SF. My kid was bad but only threw up once or twice and that was down to the tamiflu. Like someone else said earlier everyone has varying symptoms and some dont show any at all. The media are being a disgrace IMO by scare mongering and giving out stats that have no foundation whatsoever. Im not going to worry about it, if I get ill I get ill. Maybe it shows how effective the flu jabs are though that hardly any old people are getting it.

Apparently younger people are getting the worst symptoms. Some medics are claiming that OAPs may even have some resistance, and this is why so few have been affected so far.

Guest Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 And which category do you fit into ? You're lucky I don't feel well.
Asha Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 The media are being a disgrace IMO by scare mongering and giving out stats that have no foundation whatsoever. I know the old 'they need to sell papers' line will come up at some point, but I couldn't agree with you more. I feel the media should keep it factual, rather than chucking any random high number on their front page to show how many of us will die from it. Just so people are shocked into buying one for more info.
AjcW Posted 21 July 2009 Posted 21 July 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8083179.stm Russia gets away with fooking everything ... Taken from the bbc website, shows conformed cases and high risk zones.
Tevez Posted 21 July 2009 Posted 21 July 2009 Not allowed to be out of my room for a week now after being diagnosed with Swine Flu symptoms. Wish me luck.
Phube Posted 21 July 2009 Posted 21 July 2009 I was getting semi-worried, despite being a well informed health worker... having a heavily pregnant wife really doesn't help... but: Now the 2 "healthy" people who died: The 6 year old girl of septic shock, from tonsillitis. Probably missed because they were treating swine flu!* And the healthy doctor had a PE, heart disease and high blood pressure?!? Hmmm... *Just a guess... no one can sue me for this, right?
ob1kanobe0 Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Swine Flu: What I Believe http://solari.com/blog/?p=3532#comments Catherine, Daily Musings, Financial Permaculture and News & Commentary,July 21, 2009 at 10:07 am I believe one of the goals of the swine flu vaccine is depopulation. Perhaps it is the goal of a swine flu epidemic as well, whether bio-warfare or hype around a flu season. These days, I keep remembering my sense of urgency leaving the Bush Administration in 1991. We had to do something to turn around the economy and gather real assets behind retirement plans and the social safety net. If not, Americans could find themselves deeply out on a limb. I felt my family and friends were in danger. They did not share my concern. They had a deep faith in the system. As my efforts to find ways of reengineering government investment in communities failed to win political support, Washington and Wall Street moved forward with a debt bubble and globalization that was horrifying in its implications for humanity. Overwhelmed by what was happening, I estimated the end result. My simple calculations guessed that we were going to achieve economic sustainability on Earth by depopulating down to a population of approximately 500 million people from our then current global population of 6 billion. I was a portfolio strategist used to looking at numbers from a very high level. Those around me could not fathom how all the different threads I was integrating could lead to such a conclusion. To me, we had to have radical change in how we governed resources or depopulate. It was a mathematical result. A year later, in 1999, a very capable investment and portfolio strategist asked me if he could come have a private lunch with me in Washington. We sat in a posh restaurant across from the Capitol. He said quietly that he had calculated out where the derivatives and debt bubble combined with globalization were going. The only logical conclusion he could reach was that significant depopulation was going to occur. He said his estimates led to an approximate population of 500 million. I said very quietly, “that’s my estimate too.” I will never forget the look of sadness that crossed his face. I was amazed to find someone else who understood. Does Swine flu = Depopulation on a mass scale, from the top?
James. Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 My simple calculations guessed that we were going to achieve economic sustainability on Earth by depopulating down to a population of approximately 500 million people[/b] from our then current global population of 6 billion. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Does Swine flu = Depopulation on a mass scale, from the top? Well given that 700 people have died in a world that has a population of 6 billion I'd say it's a pretty shit method of depopulation. What a load of total, utter nonsense. If you believe that then you're more stupid than I thought (and I already thought you were pretty stupid).
haraven Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 The total number of people who has died from this flu is less than a normal flu on world-basis. The reason for the fuzz is because it is a new one which they yet don't have a vaccine for + it is like all flus a certain questionmark whether it will transform and mix with other animal flus and become a real nasty one. It has targeted young people first and foremost so far, probably because they are the ones that travel the most and are thus likely to get it first. It is in all likelyhood milder than the normal february flu many get. It is like all other flus people who have other illnesses that should take precautions - if you are healthy you have nothing to worry about. I would rather worry about being hit by a car. The depopulation theory is the single most stupid thing I've read in the last week.

If you believe i believe it, then you're more stupid than I thought (and I already thought you were pretty stupid). Just to get your jucies going. On one of the highest hilltops in Elbert County, Georgia stands a huge granite monument. Engraved in eight different languages on the four giant stones that support the common capstone are 10 Guides, or commandments. 1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature. 2. Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity. 3. Unite humanity with a living new language. 4. Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason. 5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts. 6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court. 7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials. 8. Balance personal rights with social duties. 9. Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite. 10.Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature. http://www.radioliberty.com/stones.htm http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3490568771316655904 from about the 4th minute. Again, im not saying i believe it, just providing it for your benefit. Does anyone know why those stones exist? Who do the stones belong to?
