Stadium Tours

I'm going down to London next week and would like to have a look at a few stadiums. I've had a look at the prices and think they are a bit steep (£15 quid for Arsenal, Chelsea and Wembley) and I can't find anything about tours on West Ham's website. Fulham only do them combined with lunch for £30 which I think is a bit stupid.

Anyway, the question is, have any of you been on these tours and are any of them actually worth doing?

I did a Crystal Palace tour back in 2002 and it was the best £60 I ever spent.

Went Wembley. Was pretty good.

Best tour ever though, has to be the Maracana!

Worst is, easily, Barcelona's Nou Camp.

I went for the 2nd time last week and it changed a lot since the last time. If you are genuinlly a football fan i find it hard to see how you could not to enjoy it. I got to see the Champions league trophy last week (the real one)

I didn't think it was too bad.

Stadium tours are for gays.

Example:

Only been on one: the Parc des Princes in Paris. Was really good actually - only paid about €10 or something like that, got a full tour of the ground, board room, changing rooms, trophy room, on the pitch, etc. There is even a mini nightclub for the players to 'unwind' in after the match ^_^

I was expecting to be in a group of 30 or something but when I went there were only 3 of us, with one tour guide, which was pretty good really. I'd recommend it if it's a famous ground (particularly abroad) that you really want to see, but I'd never spend more than £20 on it...

If your going down to London, the Twickenham tour is really good. Not a fan of rugby, but there is a bit of history to the place.

I've been to Arsenal and that is really interesting to look at the museum, and I recall something about them playing Leicester Fosse at Higbury in theier early days.

Man City was the best though as its museum was really good and the tour was quite lenghty with all the hsitory of the ground since the Commonwealth Games.

Both value for money.

Bet that was a MASSIVE history..

I don't really feel like any new stadium is worth touring until it's got a few years of history under its belt and has developed a bit of a unique character to boot.

I got a free ticket for the Wembley tour last year and the place just feels so empty and soulless. Sure, it's got a few nice bits of memorabilia floating around but if we're going to treat football grounds as museums and charge people for the privilege of roaming their innards then the places themselves need to actually have a bit of historical credence to them if touring them is ever going to be a worthwhile experience.
