I rate Ashley Young, but Milner has done more in his time so far than he did during his.

Ashley Young is good against the weaker teams. But when he has to step up against the good teams, he doesnt perform. This has happened so many times with aston villa.

Good result after the two horrific mistakes.

Defoe and Carlton Cole were very impressive. Holland are the 3rd best team in the world? Fifa rankings are a joke.

Good result under the circumstances. Apart from 2 school boy errors we totally dominated.

It was like night and day. Defoe was pure class that first goal brilliant, C Cole was brilliant too I thought, downsides Johnson at the back had one of the worst games he's probably ever had as a footballer, midfield was really poor, Milner did more in 1 minute that Young did in an hour. First half woeful 2nd half very good.

Without wanting to sound like a miserable old fart, the two goals we conceded make this seem as much like we've dropped a win as gained a draw. We aren't always going to get away with these silly errors, especially at the business end of a World Cup. Ferdinand's lack of concentration could be attributed to lack of competitive games, but that was one of the worst performances he has had in an England shirt for some time.

Nevertheless, we were never dominated by what is a very strong Dutch side already assured of a place in South Africa and the fact I actually feel a little disappointed with a draw speaks volumes about how far England have come.

The quality of the second half display shows that the squad has a fighting spirit and will not let their heads drop where they used to, even against quality opposition like Holland. The success of Milner, Defoe and Carlton Cole shows another encouraging element. That the squad has far more depth than it is given credit for and that nobody should feel that their place is safe or that we are only two or three injuries away from implosion. Defoe's finish for the first goal was pure class and he showed a real killer instinct for the second. One has to wonder where Owen would fit in if Defoe continues to play this well in an England shirt, but that's an issue for another day. It certainly gives Capello a nice dilemma to mull over if Owen does well at Old Trafford.

All in all England should feel content with a solid performance, particularly in the second half, but also recognise that the defensive errors really need to be cut out or we could well be gifting strong sides goals unnecessarily.

Good display and dominated in patches , C Cole, Milner and Defoe were impressive when called upon. Erradicate the individual errors and things look promising

RADOVAN CARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAVAN!

Whilst we have been spanking South African botty I notice you hoofers have just scraped a draw against the cloggies.

Well credit where credit is due I suppose. At least you lot have cottoned on that Owen is the poor man's Defoe.

Just five years too late that's all

Are we forgetting the 1st half ? Sorry but they took off most of their key players.

1st half was a shambles, Beckham, Heskey, Rooney and Green played well.

And we also took some of our key players off in the second half and one didnt play at all. The first half wasnt a shambles apart from the two costly mistakes, Rooney and Heskey again linked up, Beckham and Johnson seemed to have created a partnership down the right and Lampard looked solid as did Barry. Rob Green was excellent in the sticks and JT looked good at centre half.

Woah South Africa?! Jesus you moron's are now World beaters. How you can call us a bunch of hoofer's I will never know, did you fail to see any of our goals tonight?

Michael Owen has been playing for England for the last 11 years so he is hardly 'a poor man's Defoe'.

Agree with Albert, England don't hoof it. We always play it on the floor and Micheal Owen has been a top striker for years. Also we played the 3rd best team in the world. Where are you ranked ?

Excellent performance, to dominate the dutch in such a way that they didn't trouble us once (via their own play) speaks volumes! :scarf: still much work to be done however, that Spain game last year still sends shivers down my spine!

I think we are in for a fun ride next summer :D

BTW i actually love James Milner!!

Not true and numerous FIFA technical studies demonstrate very clearly that the most obsessive users of the long ball in international tournaments are the national teams of the British Isles. But that's only half the problem your sides have.

When you do play on the floor FIFA technical studies also show that the British Isles sides are the least inclined to pass first time (one touch passing). That is the reason why national teams from the British Isles are so hideous to watch and why they consistently fail against highly technical sides. And it gets even worse my friend but first a little story...

When your heritage spooks decided that Watneys Red Barrel was an insult too far to the national taste buds and founded The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) as a kind of consumer guerilla movement they came up against a problem they had not bargained for - the consumers. They actually liked the industrial piss on tap at their local. As far as they were concerned 'Ye Olde Bishop's Dildo' was for poofs. It's a similar story with your football.

You like all the hoofing, headles chicken running about and rash challenges. All you care about is the result. It's not that you don't like the one touch game it's that you don't really notice it (even when used against you to devestating effect). It's a sad case of pearls before swine.

And the game will have long ceased to be the cultural force that it now is before you are likely to change.

PS Defoe is light years ahead of Owen. He's quicker, more confident, two footed and can shoot from range. A combination of abominable coaching, loss of youthful fearlessness and injuries have reduced Owen to a shadow of the player he once was - a sad case of accelerated athletic decrepitude.

PPS You should know my view on FIFA rankings by now. Technically we are superior to you. The fact that there may well be more Serbs than Ingerlanders in your best club side by the end of this season speaks volumes
