Radovan's Caravan Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 All very low key this - is it still on? Was it originally scheduled for Wemberlee and then secretly moved in the middle of the night to Hampster-Jam? Don't tell me - Murdoch Evil Enterprises are not screening it live are they? Thought not. Which means loads more of your fellow country persons to witness another national humiliation The Oranjeboomers to fart four past Foster
Unit Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 I know it's only a friendly but this has to be the least publicised england game ever, especially since it's on terestrial

Hugo Sanchez Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 Wait.Face paint...check Jester hat....check Replica 1966 World cup shirt....check The urge to sing the national anthem over and over again...check! I'm ready! Yeah wait, USA USA USA USA ( REPEAT ALL GAME )
Radovan's Caravan Posted 11 August 2009 Author Posted 11 August 2009 I know it's only a friendly but this has to be the least publicised england game ever, especially since it's on terestrial Well there appears to be a lot of sour grapes being spat out all over the dinner table by old Rupert. He's managed to rope in that old gobshite Ian Wright to give his tuppence ha'penny's worth in The Sun on why it's not worth going to Amsterdam to see this particular game. What a surprise... Actually, for once, I think this friendly is a very good use of England's time. Against FIFA's third ranked team, away from home when players have not yet quite woken up. Football's equivalent of a freezing cold bath. That's what you get when a lot of hot air gathers over thin ice.

dandannieldanok Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 I predict a largely dull, low-key game with neither set of players busting a gut, 1-0 either way.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 11 August 2009 Author Posted 11 August 2009 It's been scheduled at Amsterdam for about six months. Then why did the BBC's own website under 'Internationals / Fixtures / Friendlies' list 'England V Holland' as 'Off'?
CosbehFox Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 Then why did the BBC's own website under 'Internationals / Fixtures / Friendlies' list 'England V Holland' as 'Off'? It's a common mistake. They had the Leicester v Shrewsbury recent pre-season friendly like that for two/three weeks before the game and listed Shrewsbury v Leicester in the same list. All this despite the game being confirmed a while ago at New Meadow. There's been a few examples of it too.
Simi Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 Gerrard out with groin injury Didn't see that coming...
purpleronnie Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 Yeah wait, USA USA USA USA ( REPEAT ALL GAME ) You obviously havent been to a game then? Its ok ignorance is bliss.
Matt Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 I know there are other internationals - World Cup Qualifiers going on thus premiership players playing for respective countries but what a pointless friendly, half a week before the premiership season starts? Oh well, not that it effects our club. No doubt it'll be boring anyway. Reckon i'll prob have this on tv (On mute - Especially as its on itv) with the Leicester match on the radio.
Lillehamring Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 seen holland play a couple of times in the qualifiers and they looked pretty decent, can see them taking chunks out of england i'm afraid.
Hitesh Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Its on ITV this evening but not sure if I'll bother watching all of it. The early season friendlies tend to be drab and dull but saying that, I'll watch the first 10 minutes and end up watching the whole game!
BlueSi13 Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 A narrow, close and dull game in prospect no doubt with both teams just out to gain match fitness ready for the new season... 1-1 i reckon, but either way, come on England!!
martyn Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Looking forward more to cheering on El Tri in the Azteca later. 1-0 Holland.
Samilktray Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 I thought this too. Perhaps hes Scottish or something unfortunately.
Fox92 Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Don't think I am watching this although I might do but I hope Beckham don't play
