Spain or Turkey for me. Had two fantastic holidays there and would love to maybe live in Spain when I'm older. Do the seasonal migration thing :P.

One place I'd love to visit is Italy.

Forgot to mention, I'd also like to see more of the Netherlands, especially Amsterdam. Last time I went we were drunk every night and busy playing football during the day. Would like to go for longer next time.

Hmmmm....

Croatia for it's relatively non-commercial feel and beautiful islands.

Turkey for Istanbul, an amazing city.

England for being home.

Why would it be boring living there? Norway is actually quite nice to live in. They lack a major city a la London, but their stunning (and much visited) nature and charismatic people more than make up for it. I'm sure Vålerenga would back me up on that

Charismatic people? When I visited there, they were boring as hell. Like the Swedes, Danes and Fins... all very very dull. Not that they weren't nice, just rather subdued folk... nice place though.

As for me, I'd say England, but only as it's where I was born and I'm a serious patriot... other than that it's nowhere near as nice as Belgium for friendliness of the people and general living. France is also really nice... living in Paris or even in the countryside would be nice... and the people, as long as you can speak French, are nice enough.

The problem with the UK is that teens are so anti-family mostly... there are obviously going to be some that are closer to their families but yobs and chavs that wander the streets causing trouble do so, I'm sure, due to a lack of family bonding. In Belgium, France, China, three places I've been regularly, family is of upmost importance and you just don't see the kind of violence and poor behaviour coming from the children that you see on a day to day basis in England... shame really.

These days Spain for me especially Mallorca. A stunning Island and a place I would like to move to permanently.

For anybody under the age of 25 I would say the Greek Islands are immense if you like endless days of frivolous sex and hard drinking. Lived in Corfu for 6 months in 1999 and it was awesome.

I don't know what you base that opinion on Scandinavians on. The Danish youths are the heaviest drinkers in Europe, and drinking usually only happens in town or at parties. Fins are nutters in most of the cases I've met them. But no, we don't have many chavs at all here, if that's what you're referring to ;)

But Belgium  Having lived there for 18 years, I do not recognize anything you're mentioning here. Especially the last couple of years before I left (in 2003), gang violence by ethnic minorities especially had quite visually increased a lot. Even in the fancy and expensive areas of Brussels, you'd see small kids between 11 and 15 causing trouble. And the friendliness? If you master French AND Dutch, then you might encounter friendliness on a frequent basis... :dunno:

Oh and I guess my favourites would be Norway, Netherlands and Czech Republic

I live with a Finnish girl and having been out with her Finnish friends I can vouch for that.

you're dead right....

i lived in london for about a decade, which is now a place i could only ever consider visiting, as you say, for a holiday. and living in norway actually feels like a perpetual holiday

norway certainly isn't boring, not only would it be a great holiday destination it is also an amazing place to live.

...i'm not going to sit here and list every reason why, but there aren't many capital cities that have skiing and beach resorts within a fifteen minute drive of each other...

we have many music festivals, every sports facility you can imagine in most towns...

perhaps some of the smaller towns are a bit dull as far as nightlife, but then the people who live there tend to find their excitments in nature and outdoor activities...

scandinavians are, for whoever suggested it, certainly not boring - if you've been here and discovered that, then it is probably through being stuck up and ignorant like so many british tourists can be...

stuff about scandinavia

My one experience of Scandinavia was a weekend break in Stockholm. Beautiful city but not that much going on it seemed. On the plus side the women are ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. Even my girlfriend was perving on them.

After spending the best part of my 20's living in various countries in europe I would say England is my fave, (boring I know) but for me it still has the most beautiful countryside, best sense of humour, best beer & most beautiful women around.

If I had to pick somewhere else it would probably be Italy just for the culture and the great clothes. ;) Plus I can ride my old scooter in the glorious sunshine. Florence still remains one of my fave places in the world.
