jimmy7587 Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Hello My last topic I promise! As I only experienced 6 seasons at Filbert Street I'm not in the best position to state what Leicester's greatest moment at Filbert Street was. Also, which moment at the Walkers is the finest?? Let me know. I have my own, but does not reflect the majority I'm sure! I leave you all in peace now
The Doctor Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Walkers - Hignett's last minute goal against arsenal to rescue a point , Izzet and Stewarts goals against brighton to get us promoted or Deanes 2 goals to get us off the mark in the first game against watford. Filbert Street - Matty Pipers header to win the last ever game there.

Let me know. I have my own, but does not reflect the majority I'm sure! I leave you all in peace now Beating Tranmere at Filbert street in thwe Play Off final with Speedie getting sent off in the last few minutes!! As far as my childhood goes, that game stands out as immense!! The Athletico Madrid UEFA cup home tie was rather good also!!!
foxoffderby Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Tony James scoring a goalmouth scramble to keep us up think it was against Oxford and sending WBA down on the last day of the season. Was at Kop end and must of been about 12/13 years old. Amazing atmosphere and being able to stand at a game.
Asha Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Filbert Street - Matt Piper scoring the winner against Spurs. Walkers - Steve Howard 'gainst Leeds.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Filbo: Collymore hat-trick against Sunderland, we were irresistible up front that day. Then again, Walsh's equaliser against Arsenal to make it 3-3 was also epic. Walkers: Nalis' screamer against Leeds, Howard also against Leeds or the promotion day against Brighton after the best part of a season in administration.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Has to be the 5-0 against Cambridge in the Play Offs. Absolutely awesome that night and more than made up for the 5-1 humiliation at their ground earlier in the season. Also when we beat Chelsea 3-1 in the league and Heskey took the piss out of Desailly (sp?) including a 180 degree turning dragback which had him tackling air.

I was going to start a new thread to see what the (sp?) thing means as I have seen it on numerous different posts but I was just wondering, what does it stand for?

breadandcheese Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 My favourite moments. 3-3 Arsenal - Whenever I see a Leicester fightback, it's something special. When it's midweek, against a great team, with one of the best hat-tricks you'll ever see from Bergkamp and yet still we come back. Those are the moments you know why you support Leicester and follow football. 2-1 Spurs - The game where Izzet scored that amazing volley to seal the win and help O'Neill make his decision to turn down Leeds. I loved that game. The atmosphere was something else that I've never experienced at Leicester since. 0-2 Atletico Madrid - I think someone else said this game. It was the first time I saw us in Europe, like many of the crowd that night. The referee was awful and robbed us. It was just a bit surreal, seeing Leicester in Europe and being robbed by the referee made it feel as if Atletico couldn't beat us by themselves. My favourite Filbert Street matches.
lildave3 Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Filbert Street - Walsh making it 3-3 against Arsenal. Walkers - Steve scoring in the last minute against Leeds.
Edmund Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Collymores hat trick at Filbert was an amazing moment. Had some decent cup games against Chelsea as well.

Oh yes gotta be this one i remember it vividly....pitch invasion at full time fans stripping "ROOSTER" of all but his jock strap..Partying in the NAGS(Criterion) to James .."all sit down" then onto the Crown and Thistle drinking Lager from ROOSTER's left boot, that one of our crew had wrestled from him in the melee! Ohh Happy Days ..Si
NewquayFox Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Snogging a blonde haired beauty from Hinckley (i think) through the railings in pen 3 when her Dad went for a pee back in the 70s, never could remember her name, i wonder if she still has the blue paint lines on her cheeks. ;0)
simes240170 Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 The 5-0 demolition of Cambridge in the play off semi final was also pretty good.Tommy Wright running down the right Wing...oh again happy days only spoilt by having to sit in the Decker with a bunch of numpties rather than in the utopia of pen 4
Bert Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 1994: Leicester 1-1 Tranmere. My first game at Filbert St, I won tickets on the radio and me and my dad went down, although it was nearly called off. My Dad was poorly as well, but he knew how much it meant to me to go to my first ever game. What's more, we missed our goal, because I was in the toilet! 2000: Leicester 1-0 Villa The 2nd leg of the League Cup Semi. My dad surprised me the weekend before with tickets, so it was even more of a bonus that I was going, because I wasn't expecting it. Then to win the game and see all the players and fans enjoying the moment, the roar of Filbert St, and just sheer jubilation was something that I'll never forget. When the final whistle went, I jumped straight into my dads arms with my fist in the air and shouted "Come on!!" It was fantastic. These may not be what you'd expect, but they're very important to me, and 2 games I'll never forget.
dandannieldanok Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Filbert Street - Last game, 2-1 win over spurs, the whole second half. Walkers - Beating Leeds 4-0, the whole game was great.
Phube Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 City vs ManU ~ 2002ish! When we were officially relegated, last season at Filbo. Everyone to a man stood up and sang for the last 15-20 minutes. Really special atmosphere!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Why on earth would any right-thinking Leicester fan call their blog "The Walkers Bowl"...??
syston_fox Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 City vs ManU ~ 2002ish!When we were officially relegated, last season at Filbo. Everyone to a man stood up and sang for the last 15-20 minutes. Really special atmosphere! Yeah that was one of my favourite moments at filbert street too - it was just one of those breathtaking moments where everyone was united as one and signified that we were down but not out. At the Walkers..... either the second half against Spurs in the cup or Steve's last minute header against Leeds. Beautiful!
deepbluedevil Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Got to be Walshie's last minute equaliser against Arsenal in the 3-3 At the Walkers, Howard vs Leeds, obviously something about last miunte goals
blueincornwall Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 At home to Cambridge in the '92 play off semi. People on the east stand roof if I remember. 5 - 0 final score!
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 At home to Cambridge in the '92 play off semi. People on the east stand roof if I remember. 5 - 0 final score! If I remember rightly they were on the roof for the league game about a month before as the game was not all ticket and sold out during the evening. Think the play-off was all-ticket so did not have the same problem.
