CosbehFox Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 City vs ManU ~ 2002ish!When we were officially relegated, last season at Filbo. Everyone to a man stood up and sang for the last 15-20 minutes. Really special atmosphere! This one and a League Cup semi-final against Sunderland on a brilliant night atmosphere. Walkers...in terms of a game...Hull 2 Leicester 3 (game and half). Moment Howard's header against Leeds and the 4-0 spanking of Leeds.
lildave3 Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 2000:Leicester 1-0 Villa The 2nd leg of the League Cup Semi. My dad surprised me the weekend before with tickets, so it was even more of a bonus that I was going, because I wasn't expecting it. Then to win the game and see all the players and fans enjoying the moment, the roar of Filbert St, and just sheer jubilation was something that I'll never forget. When the final whistle went, I jumped straight into my dads arms with my fist in the air and shouted "Come on!!" It was fantastic. These may not be what you'd expect, but they're very important to me, and 2 games I'll never forget. I nearly chose that one. My main memory of that, for some reason, is Zagorakis and Savage holding the ball in the corner in the dying seconds.
Corky Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Filbert St- The final match there. Very emotional. Walkers- Steve's header vs Leeds.
MC Prussian Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 My first home match (and the last one in the Prem), at the Walkers vs. Pompey in May 2003. Won 3-1. But Steve's header against Leeds tops it all - what an atmosphere that was. It felt like we'd just won the Premier League.
Fosse Boy Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Of games I've been to... Filbo - Playing in a mini Euro 96 tournament on the hallowed turf when I was 6 was pretty special, getting my "participant's medal" from Kevin Poole really topped off that day for me. A couple of victories against Leeds in the late nineties come to mind for some reason too, especially being right behind the goal and chanting "USA! USA!" when Kasey Keller saved a Hasselbaink penalty at the Filbert Street End in one of those games. Filbert Way - At the moment it's got to be Super Steve's last minute winner on Easter Monday. Nothing else comes close really.

Karljohn Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Mine was a 0-0 draw against Burnley in 82/83 season, filbo was full...I stood outside with me dad crying cos we couldnt get in...then out of nowhere comes a bloke with 2 tickets in the double decker seats...we went through the old reception doors past the changing rooms etc and eventually got through the gates inside and up into the seats....all I can remember is Lee Dixon(?) clearing a lineker lob off the line! the point was enough to seal promotion after derby v fulham had almost made it to a legal battle over their game where the derby fans invaded the pitch or sommit like that. Amazing day, first time I had seen 30k inside filbert st.....still to this day dont know who the bloke with the tickets was.
fleckneymike Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Filbo is either the 0-2 defeat against United that saw us relegated or the 3-3 Arsenal draw. At the Walkers 3-2 against Spurs in the cup.
StanSP Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Best moment at Walkers is beating Leeds 4-0. Everyone knows Nalis' goal Also, the 3-2 win over Sheff Utd was good. We were 3-0 up with about 10 minutes to go, and they scored a couple of late goals. I had no nails left by the end haha!
Raj Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Filbo Arsenal v City. The whole game was quality. Bergkamp was awesome, but not as good as Walshies equaliser!!! Walkers-City beating Spurs in T cup! last min goal by The flying Dutchman MdV!!! Great last 5 minutes!!! * mind you beating Leeds is always quality...4-0 and last minute headers by fat overwight Norherner strikers!!!!!!
dandannieldanok Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 City vs ManU ~ 2002ish!When we were officially relegated, last season at Filbo. Everyone to a man stood up and sang for the last 15-20 minutes. Really special atmosphere! Yes I remember that, the team actually gave a decent performance backed by a brilliant home crowd. Filbert Street was even good when we were losing.
jimmy7587 Posted 27 August 2009 Author Posted 27 August 2009 Why on earth would any right-thinking Leicester fan call their blog "The Walkers Bowl"...?? Well it's a play on the fact the we we're going to call the stadium the walkers bowl, so it's more a piss take on that, and i can use the pun on feeding information... Thanks "Fez" for picking up on that. Cool knick-name!
Raj Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Filbo atmo wise.....City v Cov half time,in the kop "Iwan is a Welshman" for 15 odd minutes non stop like....
Sparky Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Filbo atmo wise.....City v Cov half time,in the kop "Iwan is a Welshman" for 15 odd minutes non stop like.... Followed by Cov scoring in the 1st min of the 2nd half which brought the chant "You only sing at half time " Anyway not seen you prematch this season Raj ? I miss our slag every FT member off chats
CosbehFox Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Beating Leeds 3-1 in December 2000, on Rio Ferdinand's debut, was memorable. Cracking match that. Really humbled them whilst they were flying high. Radebe sent off and they started racist chants at half-time again...

clazkel Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Filbert street: 3-3 against Arsenal and sitting in the family stand, great view Heskey and Collymore up front - quality Walkers - Matty Fryatts second Hatrick in a row against Southend Howards goal against Leeds
Corky Posted 27 August 2009 Posted 27 August 2009 Cracking match that. Really humbled them whilst they were flying high. Radebe sent off and they started racist chants at half-time again... Yes, remember their fans starting on the Police at HT.
MauriceJobson Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 Funniest moment at Filbert St was the 2-2 Savage "shitegate" match against Villa when Paul Dickov's boot came off in a 50-50 challenge right on full time and George Boateng threw it onto the East Stand roof. Greatest moment at Filbert St for me was the Atletico Madrid game or Collymore's hat-trick against Sunderland. Best moment at the Walkers. Three last minute goals: Hignett v Arsenal, De Vries v Spurs or Howard's winner against Leeds.
davieG Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 The most influential game at Filbert St for me was my first back in the 60's although I don't remember who we were playing, a team in red and white stipes or whether we won or lost. Having been brought up in a non-football environment, none at home, rugby at school and no football on the tele I really had very little idea of football. One of the opposition players scored with an over head scissors kick from the edge of the penalty area at the Kop end and that was me hooked for life. The next most influential was watching a film at the YMCA of Real Madrid thrashing Eintract Frankfurt 7-1 in the European Cup Final with Di Stefano & Puskas etc Since then there have been many, many fantastic games at Filbert St. Although we've had our moments of glory at the Walkers none of them come close to those at Filbo - probably the two Leeds games.
Carter The Boss Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 At Filbert Street mine was my first ever game, can't remember what year (90s), we drew 3-3 with Derby and Iwan Roberts scored a hattrick I think). I lived abroad for years, Dad used to get me up at 3am to listen to all the results come in on the radio, but that was the first game I ever saw and loved it Collymore's hattrick... incredible. I think i literally jizzed my pants that day At the Walkers, the 4-0 Leeds game, Stevie Howards Leeds winner, and beating Watford 4-1 in one of Allen's first games in charge. We looked a class above
Guest Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 1994:Leicester 1-1 Tranmere. My first game at Filbert St, I won tickets on the radio and me and my dad went down, although it was nearly called off. My Dad was poorly as well, but he knew how much it meant to me to go to my first ever game. What's more, we missed our goal, because I was in the toilet! These may not be what you'd expect, but they're very important to me, and 2 games I'll never forget. That Tranmere game brings back memories for me too. Anyway not seen you prematch this season Raj ? I miss our slag every FT member off chats They'll be queuing up if my name is mentioned.
josh_baskin Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 Collymore's hattrick was something else. Totally agree. That was in my view the team at its peak.
Pete_foxes Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 Filbert - Muzzy's Scissor kick Walkers - agree with someone earlier actually.. Howards goal against Leeds was euphoric moment I'll add another one for away games, I apsolutly loved the atmo at Craven Cottage, the most recent one when we lost 3-2 after being 2-1 up till about 85 minutes, just the feeling of defiance 1-0 down, city fans "WERE GONNA WIN 2-1" 2-2 "WERE GONNA WIN 3-2" losing 3-2 full time whistle was immenent and still every single person was singing there hearts out, good time.
Lisburn Fox Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 Andy Peakes screamer against Liverpool was a special moment and a great goal, prior to that my first game on my own in about 76 beat Arsenal. The Tony James goal to keep us in the 2nd division, the Shrewsbury cup game of goalies. My best memory actually was away at Anfield 1 - 2 win Alan young own goal then Jim Melrose and Paddy Byrne gave us a win and I was there (first team to win at Anfield for something like 500 years), still get a smile from that and the moment Thompson pulled it back to 3 - 3 against Swindon at Wembley. Traveling down from Dusseldorf (living there at the time) to Madrid for the UEFA up game was worth it to take the lead. I know it said Filbert Street but I got carried away. Still looking for Fans in Northern Ireland. Cheers
