I'd have taken this at the start for sure but having dropped points where we shouldn't, and realizing a lot of teams are weaker than i expected, i'm a little dissappointed we've not got 3/4 more points.

This. Teams arent as good as we thought and really should have at least 4 more points. Think if we win on Saturday it will be a fairly good start if we are to make the playoffs, but I'm quite concerned about our away record though.

The sooner we can get the first away win under our belts (hopefully at Cov), the more relaxed I'll be.

Surely you hope its at Boro as we play them before we play Cov

I would have taken this position at the start of the season.

We've played some very good football in patches, but we can't seem to put a full 90 in. Apart from Wellens, N'Guessan/Gallagher and Neilson (ha), the team is largely unchanged from last season, though we've adapted well to a competitive league. I see some people are saying opposing teams are weaker than expected; with the exception of Ipswich, I think you have to give credit to the way we've made teams look.

I don't buy into the negativity emanating from some on here. Sure, we've had a wobble at Watford, and some halves of football have been disappointing, but I believe we can only get better as both the team and management get used to the league. There are certainly more positives than negatives so far.

Absolutely delighted regardless of today.

Tough start to the season and top 10. Unthinkable to me 2 months ago.

Agreed that the league position and hence the start to the season is still good. But, even I (the eternal optimist!) can see that cracks are indeed starting to show.

It's not the time to panic, and a couple of good results on the road will change the mentality once more. Change to some degree is needed though, because the team has been lacking pretty much in all departments in the last few games. We also need to learn how to perform for 90 minutes because the key to any successful team is consistency.

Agree and there's always going to be room for improvement, but that involves predicting into the future. Up to now looking at the big picture I have absolutely no complaints. That's not to say things wont change and even in last years unbeaten run we not long after suffered a blip period so one will be inevitable at some point. I'd have had us down to be in Forest's position at this point 2 months ago though so I'd be an idiot to say I'm not delighted.

I always had the impression that it was almost unheard of for teams promoted from the third tier (League One as is) to go straight through the second (Championship) to the top tier.

Just checked the records...

In the 15 years since the Premiership launched, only 1 team has managed it - Man. City 10 years ago (though Reading were runners-up in 94-95). Given parachute payments to relegated Premiership clubs, if anything it is now more difficult than before.

So, anyone whinging if we're not heading for immediate promotion needs a serious reality check!

The achievements of the likes of Bristol City and Swansea in making/getting near the play-offs in the first season after promotion are the pinnacle. If we're anywhere near that, it will be outstanding - and anywhere in top half will be a good first season back.

Of course some things need to improve, they always do...but a lot has improved - and I mean on last season, never mind 2 years ago. They're playing some good stuff, but are in a tougher league so will lose more matches.

Agree with that. And the general concensus on here pre season was that a mid table finish would be perfectly acceptable (and expected). In some ways though, due to the way we started expectations were almost immediately raised and previous (realistic) hopes were forgotten.

After witnessing N'Guessan's performances Gradel must have shat in the back of Pearsons car to not even get a look in. Same too of Adams who hasn't even done anything wrong yet this season when he has played. We need a radical re-think because we could easily lose the next couple of away games and that would be 1 point out of 12. I worried at the start of the season about a lack of goals and so far I see nothing to change this.

Perhaps it might help to play players in their correct position. Oh and I said on the Neilson thread 6 months down the line he will be vilified such is his crapness but I was wrong. It seems it has only taken a couple of weeks. Luke O'Neil surely can not be this bad but yet again will be another promising youngster left to stagnate without being given a genuine chance.

This is not a quality league, competitive yes, but nothing that we could not handle if we played to our potential.

We need some serious rethinking if we are to do that, otherwise another relegation battle looms.

We have the squad we have, it is not going to change much anytime soon, we need to start playing a system that suits the players we do have, not the players we wish we had, we need a game plan, a way to attack the opposition where we can and to stifle them when we can't.

When we have the ball we are not making enough decent chances, corners and free kicks are not made to count, it really looks to me that we are simply not organising ourselves to take the best possible advantage from our abilities. We are way better than we have shown today but until we start playing as a team that knows what it is trying to do and is committed to doing it we will continue to slip into the deep stuff!

What I witnessed today was no better than we played under Holloway.

We are already mid table and dropping. I am pleased that you find it so funny. Let's hope it is still hilarious come the new year. :D

Are you as equally as "knee jerk" as this when we are on a good run of form? Or is it just when we are on the slide? <_<

It's just that some people seem much more vocal when things aren't going quite so well.

My posts have been consistent since I saw us give away 2 points at Ipswich. I have never bought into the 'could get promotion' thing that was all the rage a few weeks ago.

We have shown spells of near brilliance but have been nothing like consistent enough, even worse we seem to be doing nothing to counter our slump in form.

Indeed.

Earlier this month, some respected folks on here was saying that the midfield was as good as the one that won us promotion in 03. The last three games have shown how wide of the mark that comment was..

We have shown spells of near brilliance but have been nothing like consistent enough, even worse we seem to be doing nothing to counter our slump in form.

The manager seems to be emulating his predecessors with his reliance on "chosen men" It's a habit he needs to break as soon as possible.

Are you ACTUALLY a mental???!!!! we are still in september, it is our 1st loss at home in over a year(against a very good championship side who have been knocking on the priemierships door for the last couple of seasons and are now 3rd in the league) each and every one of the 72 teams in the football league is going to have a blip this season, Wigan beat chelsea today, fairly comfortably aswell. Burnley got the better of Man United a few weeks ago...every team in the country has its ups and downs during a season. People need to remember that regardless of your personal opinion and expectations of leicester city F.C we are a newly promoted team playing in a very competitive league. Preston are well established in this division and although we didnt play that great this afternoon its not the end of the world!! We have played some good football this season already, against teams that will be pushing for promotion. People just need to keep the faith!!

When some people realise we aren't as good as they think we are I'll be happy. I doubt that will happen though, I can already sense their "Pearson out" protests gaining pace with each post.

considering where we were last season and for 5 or 6 years before that i don't see how anyone could, seriously, expect anymore at present.
