Fryatt

Hi everyone,a newbie so go easy on me.

I think what people have to remember is that good strikers will probaly score a 1in 3/4shots ratio,so on that score he is doing very well.

Take his and Dany N'guessans goals out of the equation, only Waghorn has scored, now that is a worry.

to be fair he didn't even score. that shot was going wide until the face of a swansea defender intervened.

The disabled that wrote that should be taken out to the car park and shot.

How can you write an article called the top ten 10 players outside the premier league and then use this as justification for one of your choices, "although he’s not Premier League standard any more Harte could still do a job in the Championship."

How is fryatt 1st and chopra 6th?

It's been written by a retard

That was my initial reaction too! Bloody ridiculous list

Yeah, the list probably isn't right, but can't you lot be pleased that someone thinks that a player from our club is the best outside the Prem?

Posted

agree with Bert.

if somebody is saying we have the best player outside the prem in our squad then lets be saying "we have the best player outside the prem"

ok, he hasnt scored as many as Chopra and he isnt as busy as Kevin Nolan and he doesnt pull off a string of good saves like Scott Carson most weeks but **** me does it matter?

i do also agree that the list has been written by a clown, 4 league one players, 3 cardiff players and only KN from Newcastle.... what about Alan Smith? what about Tunchev? what about Clinton Morrisson  and Sean St Ledger??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!!!one!!!

Which is why we cant be that excited that hes said Fryatt is the best player outside the Prem! If someone with a modicom of sense says it then I will be pleased and proud but this bloke is a total numpty.

I happen to think, on current form that Matty IS one of the best players outside the Prem BUT what most of us are pointing out is this blokes list is fatally flawed (something you yourself have just pointed out too!) We werent saying anything different as far as I can tell? :)

Clowns are still allowed opinions.

I can remember Fryatt having a lot of doubters and most people saying he would struggle in the championship, After today`s result I believe if i have my facts right he is now joint top goalscorer in the league with 7 goals. Annoys me the amount of people that have been quick to jump on this guy`s back in the past and say he isn`t good enough, no doubt all the doubters have changed there tune now. I did explain to many people that Makes a difference that he has decent players around him to give him the quality ball`s needed to score, where when we have been in the championship previously this hasn`t been the case. also another point id like to make, Someone on here mentioned about if fryatt get`s injured then we would struggle, considering we have been struggling to score goals regularly I don`t think pearson should discount Campbell. I for one don`t like Campbell for the attitude he has shown the club and his unwillingness to drop his wage demands to play regular football elsewhere, however I think given the amount of money were paying this guy if fryatt gets injured then I think we have to look at using him.

to me fryatt is an enigma - some of the performances he has turned in this year have been shocking - very little pace, poor in the air, first touch not good etc... then he pops up with a goal out of the blue........... as I've said before, I think what needs to be looked at is Fryatt's chances to goals ratio - which I guess must be quite poor...he has missed some sitters this year...then again, I spose he must be get in the right positions to miss them..... really dont know if he is very good or actually very average - the jury remains still out

Yes and no.

I think a big part of Fryatts 'inconsistency' is down to the long ball game that we play.

The ball pings of Howard's head in just about every direction. For every flick that creates a genuine goalscoring opportunity there are literally dozens that create nothing at all or a 'quarter' chance at best. Fryatt chases them down but with little or no support he is usually closed out by the defender and when he is able to get something on the ball, rarely does he have the time or the space to make a clean strike.

Even the goal on Saturday owes more to Waghorn's fantastic strike than anything else. Great goal though it was, more often than not that chance would have been missed high and wide, not just by Waghorn but by anyone.

Good Post. I agree with what you and to some extent Marbella Dave has said. Matt Fryatt has always frustrated the hell out of me personally. Goals to shots ratio must be shocking. Offside many, many times not just DJ that has this trait. Has no pace at all but does possess good close control and can turn defenders with his skill. Has been mentioned by Marbella Dave that when Howard plays the ball pings off his head? I disagree, is it Fryatt is not reading the flick ons or does not get himself in the positions to wait for the flick on to be delivered? At times he can be greedy when players in better positions than him in a goal scoring position could have been slipped in with a pass (Gallacher and Howard at Newcastle end of first half). I believee he is a confidence player so now the early goal scoring form appears to have dried up it will be interesting to see how he continues. I hope like all City players he does come good but I do not beleive he is good enougth for the Premiership quite just yet or even the best player outside of the Premiership that is just silly.

Confidence is a huge part of Fryatt's game as it is with any striker. He does react quickly and is sharp enough to beat his man, sometimes at least, but pace to run the channels or to get after balls over the top, no.

Personally I do not think Howard has as much control over his flick ons as you suggest, so if he isn't sure where they are going, how can Fryatt read them? I am not 'having a go' at anyone, that is just the way I see it and I am also aware that you and others on this forum think rather more of Howard's ability in the air than I do, c'est la vie!

As for being greedy, comes with the job I'm afraid.

Attn; Self confessed grammar Nazi.

Is the plural of 'flick on';

a) flick ons

b) flicks on

........?
