Webbo Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 He scored 6 goals when he first signed to "keep us up". The following two seasons he was "carrying an injury", overweight or just shit and scored 7 goals in 69 games. A grand total of 13 goals in 88 games a goal every 6.8 games... Yet you still had 100% belief he would be the answer to our goalscoring problems? Source 05/06 6 goals in 18 appearances (1 as a sub). 06/07 4 goals in 23 appearances (11 as a sub). 07/08 3 goals in 25 appearances (10 as a sub). 08/09 31 goals in 49 appearances(none as a sub). 09/10 8 goals in 10 appearances. So in his poor seasons nearly half of his appearances were as a sub and as I said he was carrying an injury. His overall record is 52 goals in a 125 appearances, around a goal every 2.5 games. Lastly, 1 indisputable fact is 'I've been proved right'.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 If he took more of his one on ones he would easily win golden boot. Think he is a very clever player, and works well with Howard. Would rather him the than most other players like Chopra.
Koke Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 He looks a yard quicker than his usual self, and he also looks a few kilos lighter.

Lastly, 1 indisputable fact is 'I've been proved right'. Sigh... where to start. Firstly lets go back to the post by Alex "Anyone who didn't have even the slightest bit of doubt that he could struggle in the Championship (if we got there again) at the beginning of our League One season after 2 goals in 4000 games (where, contrary to popular belief, he played up front a lot) is either lying or just an idiot. That's when I had my doubts" I've highlighted the key part. Secondly the appearances you quoted are games started out of brackets and games coming on as sub in brackets. So you have to add up the two. What was this fabled injury he was carrying for two years whilst playing most of the games in those seasons? An indisputable fact is that going around telling everyone you are right about something makes you look a cock.
Webbo Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 An indisputable fact is that going around telling everyone you are right about something makes you look a cock. I don't think that's true.
Babylon Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 I don't think that's true. Just be happy he's scoring, it doesn't matter who of us thought he could, couldn't or might not do it.
Mark Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 What was this fabled injury he was carrying for two years whilst playing most of the games in those seasons? This ankle problem he's had for years, but didn't he also have a problem with his foot - he was too flat footed or something? I'm sure I read he had boots made to help the problem and he's been a changed player since!
carterfox90 Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 i was adoubter but he is winning me over game after game long may it continue just wish some of the other players could start scoring as well ie howard

I'm sure I read he had boots made to help the problem and he's been a changed player since! Correct. I'm sure he had to change the way he ran/sprinted?
Chrysalis Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 I hold my hand up I said he wouldnt cut it, so far so good. He has faults but they all not relevant, he is doing his job and that is to score goals. Typical newspapers it seems whenever we have a player on form he is linked to another club.
leicesterfox86 Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 After grabbing himself two more goals at the weekend, Matty Fryatt isn't getting carried away it seems. He knows he is bang in form though doesn't he? I think he knows that the team are looking OK as well, so is enjoying every second. He is def loving his football and I am delighted for him. Long may it continue! Stay away annoying injuries please!
jimmer Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Is there not already a Fryatt thread open? Fryatt mania!

Edmund Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/news/Steve-Ho...il/article.html Steve Howard may be Matty Fryatt's support act on the pitch, but the Leicester City striker has confessed he is trying to nurture and protect the emerging young talent off the field as well.A veteran of nearly 600 professional games, Howard has experienced too much to let things bother him and has even dismissed his 11-game run without a goal as inconsequential. However, Fryatt has yet to develop that same thick skin and Howard admitted pre-season questions about whether the 23-year-old could score goals at Championship level had started to bother the young striker. Fryatt scored 32 goals last season in League One but had managed just two in 30 league games the previous season as City slipped out of the Championship for the first time in the club's history, raising doubts about his ability at a higher level. However, he has killed that particular debate dead with eight goals this season, including five in his last three games, to lead the Championship goalscoring charts alongside Cardiff City's Michael Chopra. Some may have doubted Fryatt before his impressive start, but Howard certainly didn't and he admitted he had a good talk with his strike partner before the season kicked off. Now the problem may be not whether Fryatt can score at Championship level, but fighting off Premier League clubs who want to see if he can score at the highest level, with Hull City and Sunderland already rumoured to be monitoring him. "I had a lot of confidence in him when some doubted him so I expected him to score goals," said Howard. "Early on I think he was listening to things like that and I just pulled him to one side and told him that he had scored a lot of goals last season and he can do it again this season. He has done that, which is fantastic. "He is scoring goals in the Championship and there will be a lot of the big boys looking at him, but he is only a young lad and people forget he is just a young lad. "The goals he has scored are going to attract the big sides, but as a player you just have to get on with it. "He still has a lot to learn. Hopefully, he will keep progressing as a player and keep banging them in, but he is up there as one of the best partners I have had." Howard is backing Fryatt to continue his impressive form today against Preston North End and he has called for City to be more ruthless this time if they get their noises in front. City squandered a two-goal lead, courtesy of Fryatt, at Watford last weekend and Howard said that should not happen again. He said: "We need to win this game. If we play like we did in the first half at Watford we will be all right. Hopefully, this time we will be able to close the game out and be ruthless. "They are always a good side, a hard working side, so we will have to be on our toes. We have to put in the hard work."
