davieG Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 From Sky Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is considering a bid to extend Leicester City winger Max Gradel's loan at Elland Road. Gradel arrived at Leeds on the same day as Wolves striker Sam Vokes in time for the home win over Norwich on October 19 and is scheduled to return to the Walkers Stadium after the league clash at Swindon on November 14. He has impressed in making four substitute appearances for the League One leaders and Grayson could look to keep the 21-year-old until the New Year. Grayson said: "I'm pleased with both of them. Sam has come in, worked hard, and got his first goal at Bristol, and Max followed that on Saturday when he came on and made an impact against Yeovil. "We're delighted that Wolves and Leicester have allowed both players to come. "Sam is here until January, but Max only joined us for a month, so we'll see what situation arises there and maybe speak with Leicester."

Lets be honest here, Adams has been absolutely superb in his cameos this season, and if he can't get a starting place or even a bench place, Gradels got no fooking chance.

crazylegs1984 Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 ive took this off bcus it wasnt fair on showing what is a private convo so if you saw it you saw it if ya didnt sorry pm me and ill sort sumthing out
breadandcheese Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 hows that maddog Whilst I appreciate it, and think it's a shame if Maxi's allowed to leave, it's not fair on the lad to post what was a private conversation between you and him.

Football's all about opinions, but in my opinion, Gradel is the better player out of the two so I can only think it is an issue of tactics and how Pearson wants the team to line-up.

breadandcheese Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 i removed it fair point but just wanted to show what maxi thought of the situation That's fair. Like you, I think it's a shame we haven't brought him through the ranks enough. He's obviously got a number of jagged edges that need smoothing, so it's a shame that we haven't been able to turn him into a diamond. Maxi's clearly got a lot of natural flair and talent. We haven't utilised it enough, which in a way, is a poor reflection on our coaching side.
Mikey Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 I really liked Maxi last year, but if he wants to leave, he wants to leave. Personally I think he could develop into a good Championship player at least, and will probably be playing first team football against us next season if he goes to Leeds. I'd like him to stay.
Babylon Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 enjoying his football What's he played about 30 minutes over three games? Whilst I like Max, if Pearson thinks he's not what we need then i'm not going to question his judgement. I'm not sure anyone is in a position to considering what he's doing for us at the moment.

Joe. Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 I wouldn't blame him if he's enjoying his time up at Leeds, but seriously, if he thinks he's god's gift down here then there's something wrong. I'd hate for him to leave so prematurely after failing to use him when we perhaps could or should of, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. Pearson wouldn't let him go for the hell of it, and by the sounds of things that's not going to happen anyway.

flanimal Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 I do like Gradel, despite some of my shitty comments. He has something, but I'm not going to get too concerned about him moving to Leeds. He had moments of real quality, but other moments where he was pretty awful. He's young and learning, but compared to what N'Guessan did against QPR I'd go with Dany. Without knowing exactly what is going on behind scenes, I can't really comment, but Nigel Pearson seems like he is fair. Other managers would have let Campbell rot in the reserves, yet he allowed him to play. Maybe Gradel just isn't up to it, or hasn't shown he is hungry. I like the guy, but I can't criticise Nigel Pearson when the majority of his decisions have been right. I'd like Gradel to get a proper chance though. Let him play how he wants, and just watch if he steps it up.

knowitall Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 The £1m shows just how much they underrate him. ...........reply....................That was last season this season they asked aclub for £2 million for him. Anyway thanks for the confirmation that Max has no emotional problems apart from the BS - it seemed plain to anyone who saw him. And for your view about covering the full-back. ................reply............................Not just my veiw but also NP. N'Guessan won't cover the full-back either - he's no good at it anyway and it will cost him at the other end - so what's been applied is one standard for the newcomer and another for Max. ............................reply................................Dont you think this would upset MAX? And how much did all that chasing back cost in terms of his cross delivery, sharpness in eluding a defender and how much has his "hugging the line" cost him in goalscoring potential while DNG seems perfectly free to get in the box? ............................................reply........................... yet if you read the lastest posts, people still do not understand how this affects a player Max hasn't demonstrated he's a Championship player because he's hardly had the chance (others had stacks of settling in time) and because the dice of requirement have been loaded against him. .................................................reply........................Th is is the big problem. Leeds seem to have used him for what he's good at...attacking people, getting the ball in the box and shooting at goal. WHEN Max leaves I will tell more of what has happen behind the scenes. I do feel it will be like the Iain Hume story. When he did not want to leave but MM said he had to go. Yet people still refuse to believe this. I think Max will get the same treatment.

I'm afraid I don't buy this 'he's been told to hug the touchline and that's stopped him playing well' he's a winger that's what he bloody well should do, Cristiano Ronaldo he's not, if he wants to play down the middle then ask to play up front. Last season he looked lightweight for most of it and struggled to make an impression. N'Guessan has had off days, but we've all seen that on his day he's very good. If we get some money for Gradel we'll do well, we've a lot of wingers at the club, and i'd probably rate Gradel as the least effective. He had plenty of shots last season and didn't produce despite countless attempts, at a lower level than N'Guessan. I very much doubt we will regret losing him, as I believe we could use the money to reinvest in the side in areas that do need looking at. Aside from that it's not doing him any good sitting on the bench here, better off letting him play at a level more suited to his ability.

Adams has hardly had a chance, he looked to have toughened up this season compared to last, and has played really well when he's played this season. Kermo has hardly had a chance yet, DJ hasn't had much of a chance. And what of Verma and Asrit, no where to be seen. It's not all about Max Gradel you know. Is he really that good If he was Pearson would pick him.
Babylon Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 He was asked to do no more than dyer last year... How many did he score and create? He/others are looking for excuses because he didn't perform when he played last year. Yes he didn't play as much as dyer who had a dip in his own form, but the number of times gradel didn't look up, put in a shit cross or just lost control and ran the ball out of play were numerous. Had he done anything to warrant getting the time Dyer did though? 20 minutes for Leeds means and proves nothing, because his bigggest problem is doing it consistently. Frankly I'm sick of hearing about him, typical Leicester though looking for something to moan about when things are going well.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 Oh dear I sense bad times at the club.... Thanks for all the information KIA but please don't risk your own position at the club getting to emotionally involved on here, I know Maxi is a friend but just be careful, besides who will tell us the latests transfers Always appreciate you take time out to inform us fans something the club don't. For the record i love Maxi and think he is exactly what we are missing!! DNG isn't any better

Guest Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 Oh dear I sense bad times at the club.... Why? Because we have a squad with a few decent players and not all of them can play one game? And one of them isn't happy about that?
