Joe. Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 Here's a nice little blast from the past for you all... 1st October 2000 Premier League Table Team --------------------- Pld ------ Pts 1. Leicester City -------- 8 ------ 16 2. Manchester United --- 8 ------ 15 3. Arsenal -------------- 8 ------ 15 4. Newcastle United ---- 8 ------ 13 5. Aston Villa ----------- 8 ------ 12 6. Charlton Athletic ----- 8 ------ 12 7. Liverpool ------------- 8 ------ 12 8. Leeds United --------- 8 ------ 11 9. Ipswich Town -------- 8 ------ 11 10. Tottenham Hotspur - 8 ------- 11 11. Remember my uncle ringing me after the game telling me we were top, didn't believe him at the time. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/949958.stm
Mark Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 Top of the table after a 0-0 draw at Sunderland if I remember correctly, with a front three of Akinbiyi, Cresswell and Benjamin.
Jay Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 interesting to see 10 out of the 20 teams are no longer in the premier League and over a quarter of them ended up in th crap big time from a financial point of view
Corky Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 It was enjoyable watching Arsenal v Man Utd that afternoon, and the result affecting our league position
sdb Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 you can almost see the team disintergrating looking at that line-up! the strike-force had already undergone the Taylor-effect.
James. Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 Foxes' striker Ade Akinbiyi did well to collect a long ball from the Leicester defence but after eluding the Sunderland defence he screwed his effort wide of Thomas Sorensen's right-hand post. Good old Ade.

maddog Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 I've found it!! It's the Leicester V Man United programme 14th October 2000 with a picture of Muzzy on the front. And the table at the back is identical to the one Joe posted. Happy days The programme is still in mint condition, theres even a action replay of Red Star Belgrade 3 Leicester 1 game with photos of it. Probably worth a tenner
jonw88 Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 Seems like decades ago now. I went to that 0-0 game with Sunderland, my first ever game!

Probably worth a tenner I remember the two weeks before the United game, it was brilliant at school. 'top of the league!' Then United ran us off the park...3-0. As for the money value, it will be worth about 50p.
Zingari Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 can someone find the league table for around march 1963 , that would look good
MPH Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 not only were we top, but Derby were bottom... :w00t:

demon_dog Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 Remember it well, I too have the programme somewhere, bought especially because I never thought I'd see the day when city we're top of the Premiership. As mentioned it sure lasted along time errrrrrr.......... next match was Man U who played us off the park. Following this defeat we went into freefall never to recover for a long time. Many fans will never forget or forgive Peter Taylor for the damage he did to our once great team, may he rot and fester in the lower divisions for eternity. Let's hope that now we're on the way back up that we will attain such heights again.
flanimal Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 Peter Taylor was just so fooking shit. I know that's an obsolete thing to say, but he was ridiculously crap. I still can't believe he spent £5m on Akinbiyi, £3m on Matt Jones, £2m on Benjamin.
