Milky Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Like Bert said, for all sports he's only english when it suits i.e when we're doing well.
purpleronnie Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 I believe we've conceded the same number of goals as Ukraine 6 from 9 games. I'm not sure what that proves. I guess it means the ukraine has one of the best defences in the world. Like Bert said, for all sports he's only english when it suits i.e when we're doing well. Where ya bin?
CosbehFox Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 I thought the exclusion of Upson over a half-fit Rio was rather harsh. I know I am saying that in retrospective but Upson was pretty good in deputising and his relationship with Terry seems a lot stronger.
Koke Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Awful mistake by Cole really. Johnson does well to get a foot in, but a powerful shot by Nazarenko at the end that hit Cole on the way.
purpleronnie Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 So a rio mistake, goalkeeper sent off, another defence mistake for the goal, yep the defense is fine. Deluded.

Corky Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Well, little disappointed we won't have a 100% record in qualifying, but we're there next year and we have a chance.
Darkzzz_ Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 So a rio mistake, goalkeeper sent off, another defence mistake for the goal, yep the defense is fine.Deluded. You always get roped in Ronnie? I share similar thoughts with you in regards to delusion, I have lived amongst them all my life and that is why I don't follow England as passionately just due to the fact some England followers annoy me. I call them followers and not fans, fans know the score.

lavrentis Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Theres nothing wrong with optimism and passion for the team you support. Yeah the English are famous for over hyping and maybe overrating their chances in tournaments but who gives a shit, is there any real point going into the world cup thinking "fuck the defence is shit, we should only aim for 3rd place we'll never beat the likes of Spain, Germany and the USA." I might be selfish or whatever but I don't care how our defence ranks to other teams, I would like to see England do well and win the thing.
Darkzzz_ Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Do you have any idea how condescending that sounds. I have murdered all of those followers since. I carry the scars of their delusion.
Budweiser Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Disappointed, but you can't win them all and we have still qualified at the end of the day. It would have been nice if we won but all we can do is just look to the next game and improve. Off the record, Germany are shite.
Darkzzz_ Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Did you watch Germany today? Russia were very unlucky weren't they, fair play to the Germans, they never fail.
Budweiser Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Did you watch Germany today?Russia were very unlucky weren't they, fair play to the Germans, they never fail. I think they have before Yes, Russia are a reasonably good team, but the Germans are over-rated right now. Even Germans themselves know their team is not what is used to be.

I might be selfish or whatever but I don't care how our defence ranks to other teams, I would like to see England do well and win the thing. I think everyone does. What annoys me and kind of makes me take a step back from getting excited about England games is the people the seem to think we have some god given right to win the world cup, or own the world cup, or say we are the best country in the world only to fail (again), the ones who say before every tournament, we're favourites and deserve to be - we'll breeze through this tournament. Optimism is good, Passion is good, Just being a cock and shortsighted is just annoying. I hope we win the World Cup, obviously, I think we do have some of the worlds best players, but as a team it doesn't seem to work, our defence is the weakest link and if Rio is still in this form before the summer, he shouldn't go anywhere near the airport for South Africa. See, is that so hard? Instead of saying "Yeah fuck it, Engrave England's name on that World Cup now, it'll be a piece of piss, it's in the bag, not one single thing is wrong with the team" or putting your life savings betting on England to win the world cup. I think Purpleronnie goes abit over the top and he jumps on the bandwagon where England do something good if there not he'll slag it off (USA USA USA!) however I do have to agree with him in this thread our defence is very poor, and people saying "Yeah but before today it was 100% record" who is the best team we've played in our qualifiers? Croatia? A good team but hardly Spain, Brazil, France, Italy, e.t.c, like he said is it? Some of the mistakes our defence makes we can get away with against the teams (No disrespect to those teams) in our group put us again a decent team and we'd pay for those silly mistakes. Everyone makes mistake's, but England's defence make to many. Some England fans need to take a step back, look at the bigger picture, we are a good team, just not quite as good as some people think though.

Nowt wrong with optimism and if some people wrongly translate that to delusions of grandeur then so be it. I don't care. Sue me. We're not the best thing since sliced bread, but we aren't a bunch of fucking hopeless cunts either, as many would like us to believe. Our defence is fine. You can only beat what's in front of you and we've gone 8 straight wins in the qualifiers. So I'm not gonna apologise for having optimism and faith that we'll do well in South Africa.

Even Germans themselves know their team is not what is used to be. I'm pretty sure they have been in every one, well they have in recent times anyway. The Germans haven't been good for a long time, but they still somehow manage to scrape their way to finals.

Even Germans themselves know their team is not what is used to be. That's what they said in 2002, and that team still ended up runners up. You can never write off the Germans.
maddog Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 On our day playing well we can beat any team in the world. But i also think we could easily lose to Spain, Italy, France, Holland, Brazil, Argentina, Germany when playing poor. I am positive about the world cup, and feel we can make another Quarter final or possibly a Semi Final. But theres no way we will make the final.

We don't even know what the groups and who have qualified, e.g Argentina. The most twatish post ever.

Jesus, One extreme to the other, I was just complaining about deluded, shortsighted people who see no team better than England and then pessimist's like you who come along.

marbelladave Posted 11 October 2009 Posted 11 October 2009 England have peaked way too early and are now starting to fall apart! Capello is now picking big name players who are clearly not match sharp, big name players out of position and a team now so grossly out of shape that he could be Steve McLaran in disguise. Thought I would bring a little of my customary 'doom and gloom' into your otherwise bright little lives... :D
