Edgar Davids sez NO

On my iGoogle I've got skysports news headlines, and just after I clicked a link I caught a glimpse of the headline 'Pearson quits.....'.

And I was like :o:cry:

But then I saw it was 'Adam Pearson quits Rams',

And then I was like  phew!

Back on the subject, at least it looks like we'll be put out of our misery fairly soon.

I don't get why Davids is dragging this on for about a month though. To me there is only one clear reason for this... He isn't sure whether he wants to come to Leicester City and in my opinion if his heart isn't 100% into this move then we don't need him. We only need players who come here because they want to play for Leicester and will give 100% everytime they cross that white line.

Because this has dragged on so long I reckon Davids is trying everything he can to bleed as much money as he can out of City because he knows it will be his last payday. If that is indeed the case... Then forget it.

I may be completely wrong here but something about these negotiations makes me think that.

It's not been a month, it's been like a week since we heard about it.

Apperantly we had been in negotiations with him and his agent 2-3 weeks before we heard the news last week, do the maths and that makes what... 3 weeks to a month?

Ah right, fair dues. I've lost a bit of excitement for this over the past few days so I've missed loads of articles and stuff.

No probs :)

Here is a bit of the article that was on BBC Sport last Thursday...

Signing a player of such renown would be a remarkable coup for Championship side Leicester.

On Wednesday, Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric confirmed: "We have been in conversation for two or three weeks with him and his agent.

"We should know in the next couple of days if we can bring him to our squad."

You've missed hardly anything, unless you count a boat load of maddog posts as worthwhile

Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric has told Edgar Davids he must decide in the next 24 hours whether he wants to join the club.

Mandaric has been lining up a shock move for the former Dutch international, who is a free agent.

Davids' agent admitted signing for the Championship side would interest the 36-year-old, and the two parties have held talks about the possibility of a move.

But the Foxes chief has cranked up the pressure by demanding an answer from the former Ajax man.

Response

City want a deal wrapped up in time for their trip to play-off rivals QPR on Friday.

"We have given him 24 hours to respond," Mandaric said.

"At the moment, I'm not sure where we are with it. I don't know, nor have I been given, any indication one way or other.

"I'd say it's 50-50 at the moment. By today, we should find out more."

It has now becooming clear thzt he does not want to come here. Perhaps it is time we all move on with our lives.

Leicester City's bid to sign former Holland star Edgar Davids is hanging in the balance.

City chairman Milan Mandaric said he is "a bit concerned" that Davids' representatives have so far failed to respond to the club's offer.

Mandaric has given the former Dutch international until the end of this week to decide if he is to become City's biggest high-profile signing in years.

Yesterday, Mandaric was reported by one national newspaper to have given the player 24 hours to respond.

Mandaric told the Leicester Mercury: "It is still touch and go, and it's in his hands.

"I'm a bit concerned that the offer has been sitting there for four or five days and that Davids is not being prompt in making a decision.

"But we won't let this drag on past the next couple of days."

Davids is a free agent after leaving Ajax in June 2008, and Mandaric's concern will be that City's interest has alerted others to the availability of the 36-year-old former Juventus and Tottenham player.

Portsmouth, who were yesterday banned by the Premier League from signing players because of owed transfer fees, have dismissed reports linking them with the player.

City fans have also raised question marks about the fitness of Davids, who has not played competitively for more than a year.

But manager Nigel Pearson has stressed that Davids would have to meet "certain criteria, whether it's a fitness issue or anything else."

Mandaric said: "We've done our job and, if he comes, Nigel will take it from there and will go through the procedures he has in place."

Pearson said there was "nothing to report" on the Davids interest.

The City boss was on a promotional visit ahead of his bike ride from Newcastle to Carlisle with his backroom staff to raise money for Loros.

"When there is something to say, you will know," he said.

Pearson confirmed City's interest in Davids at the beginning of last week.

Mandaric said initially that he hoped to conclude the deal by last weekend.

The chairman dismissed reports that Davids would be looking for £20,000 a week and said the contract would be performance-related.

Pearson also stressed that City would not "break the bank" to acquire Davids.

The Mercury has also attempted to contact Davids' agent, Robert Geerlings, but he has not returned our calls.

Milan is getting annoyed too.

when all this came out the excitement was overjoying due to the fact we was on the verge of signing a footballing legend an icon of mine but right now i can just feel that he just isnt coming and all this rubbish is only gonna ruin the good spirit we have at the moment.

Look at out boys out against reading it was a shadow of a team that have been playing im just hoping that all this hasnt messed up our team spirit and hasnt spreaded negativity through out the squad.

Do we really need a prima dona here doing this to us if he wanted to play football he would be here and would signed on the .........................................

So right now if he signs ,he signs if dont then oh well go and mess with some other team.

Please may we now close this ridiculous thread and concentrate more on winning a game of football at QPR. As I said previously when Davids apparently stated he was intrigued at an offer made to him by our club? He was intrigued cos he never ever had any intention of coming to us in the first place!

If we have money to spare please can we buy a decent young player in the Jan Sales!
