Steven Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Stringer is at it again on Twitter, apparently there has been a "small deadline extension" and their will be more on RL at 5pm... According to Charles Dagnall Now more at 6pm ... Milan is on saying that Davids wants to come to City but it is his agent that is playing up
SMX11 Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Mandy hints that the agent is the problem with the deal and not EFD
sjs484 Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Mandaric sounded tired - said don't blame the player as he wants to play for Leic and it's the agent... full interview at 6. He's not going to come (hope I'm wrong) but at least by midday tomorrow hopefully Mandaric will abandon this
ibbosuk Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Or because Ferguson won't loan the same player to the same club more than once, petal. No, its nothing to do with that. ((LOOK & READ)) we could not loan Cleverley because Ferguson wants him to go to a footballing side, rather than a side that won't play football, just fooking hoofball, (US). But your clever...You knew that..Right?...You were just testing me...your not THAT stupid are you?? Forget that last bit I know the answer.
Monk Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Interesting stuff from Mandy. I still have no idea whether or not there is any hope. I'd love to see a cameo appearance on 80 minutes from him tomorrow though however unlikely.
Daggers Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 No, its nothing to do with that. ((LOOK & READ)) we could not loan Cleverley because Ferguson wants him to go to a footballing side, rather than a side that won't play football, just fooking hoofball, (US). Exactly correct. Except that Cleverly was offered to us in the summer and we rejected him due to the terms in the loan which required him to be playing regularly, and Pearson felt that he could not guarantee that. But your clever...You knew that..Right?...You were just testing me...your not THAT stupid are you?? Forget that last bit I know the answer.
Steven Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Milan says:- Talked to agent this morning. Expecting an answer. Nice to have but he has to be done by middle of the day tomorrow or no thank you. Not fair to blame player, agent fishing for other clubs perhaps so Milan draws the line. Must be done by noon. Davids in the hands of his agent according to Milan.Fair offer but will not break bank. In the beginning Milan was more hopeful but now 50-50.
maddog Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 I think Milan sounded sincere in that interview and this will definitely be all over by this time tomorrow.
Babylon Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Exactly correct.Except that Cleverly was offered to us in the summer and we rejected him due to the terms in the loan which required him to be playing regularly, and Pearson felt that he could not guarantee that. But your clever...You knew that..Right?...You were just testing me...your not THAT stupid are you?? Forget that last bit I know the answer. You've not heard the Lee Hoos story then?... God there are so many rumours it's unreal, the fact is nobody knows why on here.
maddog Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Done. Updated BBC Article http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ity/8317903.stm And surely the last non news story we will read until we know a definite yes or no. Davids D-Day on Friday - Mandaric I personally would like to draw the line as at one point as I would like to say enough is enough and we have to get on with our lives Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric will call off his pursuit of Edgar Davids if the former Champions League winner does not make a decision on Friday. Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester the midfielder, 36, is still keen on a move to the Walkers Stadium and has extended the deadline after talks on Thursday. But he says his patience is wearing thin and he will not be held to ransom. "I drew the line once and have extended it but if it is not done on Friday I am going to call it off," Mandaric said. "We talked to the agents this morning (Thursday) expecting their answer by the end of the day. "I personally would like to draw the line as at one point I would like to say enough is enough and we have to get on with our lives. "Yes, it would be nice to have him but we don't want this to drag on too long so I would expect this be done not later than the middle of the day tomorrow (Friday). "That's my target to get it done or not get it done." Davids won 65 caps during a glittering career, playing for some of the best clubs in Europe, including AC Milan, Juventus, and Inter Milan, and is a free agent after leaving Ajax in June 2008. He also enjoyed an 18-month spell in the Premier League with Tottenham. Mandaric said the club's attempts to sign Davids had proved frustrating but told the fans they should not be too quick to accuse the player. "If somebody wants to come here I expect him to be showing a little bit more sense of urgency," Mandaric said. "We need any member of this club to have the desire to come and join us as quick as possible. "But I think maybe it's unfair to blame the player. Sometimes the agents are trying to see what else they can get out of it and I think it could be coming from them. "I did draw the line once and have extended but if it is not done on Friday then I am just going to call it off. "Unfortunately some players are in the hands of their agents and when it comes to the money and deals they do not really having a lot to do with it. I wouldn't really blame the player; he wants to come. "He showed interest and now the only question is if he can agree financially. We believe we have given him a fair offer but we are not going to break the bank. We have to be sensible. It's not about a publicity stunt, it's about strengthening the squad "In the beginning I was more than 50-50 [Davids would sign]. At this time I would say it's 50-50 but the most important thing is that we will come to the conclusion of that very soon." Leicester manager Nigel Pearson Manager Nigel Pearson had said he hoped to have a definite decision about the veteran midfielder by the end of the week. Pearson explained: "I've said before, it's not about a publicity stunt, it's about strengthening the squad. If we can do that we'll do it, and if we can't, we can't - it's a simple as that. "Hopefully we'll have something by midweek, or maybe by the QPR game [on Friday]," he told BBC Radio Leicester earlier in the week. But the Foxes had initially hoped that they might reach agreement with the former Netherlands international by last weekend. Davids' agent Robert Geerlings told BBC Radio Leicester last week that a return to England appealed. "He does have other options, but Leicester is very interesting to him," said Geerlings. Signing a player of such renown would be a remarkable coup for Championship side Leicester. The Foxes only returned to the second tier of English football this term after a season in League One but have made a promising start and are in eighth spot following Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. Mandaric has no fears that Davids, who has been offered a one-year-deal, will have a huge impact in the East Midlands, despite having been without a club for more than a year. "He's a high-profile footballer who would be welcome at an ambitious club like Leicester City," Mandaric added. "We wouldn't bring him here unless he could help on the field. It's one thing bringing a high-profile name but we need him to help us on the field. "We have a talented squad but this would be an improvement - but only on the condition that he is fit." Mandaric insisted that manager Nigel Pearson has the final say on transfers and also dismissed speculation that Davids would be earning in excess of £20,000 a week. "He would not cost that kind of money," Mandaric said. "He would not cost anything more than some of our highest-paid players but we would probably be dealing with some bonuses if we made the Premier League. "I'm delighted that Nigel wants him and we are 100% behind him. "It starts with Nigel - without his green light and authorisation, I wouldn't make a move but once Nigel says he welcomes something like this then we start to work on it. "Our aim is to give it a go this season and try to get out of this division - but this time to get out the proper way. So we need help and Edgar could give us the extra dimension and give us that help." Suriname-born Davids began his career with Dutch giants Ajax in 1991 and went on to win the Champions League with the Amsterdam side in 1995. He then moved to AC Milan in 1996 before joining Italian rivals Juventus a year later and has been a European Cup runner-up on three other occasions. He has also won domestic league titles in Holland and Italy.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 D-Day tomorrow. Cant see it happening to be honest he doesnt seem to be able to make his mind up.
thybluefox Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 I do have a feeling that when EFD's agent realises no other club is interested, he'll let him sign. Although its probably a bad thing that no other club are interested in the first place. Least we'll know!
ibbosuk Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Exactly correct.Except that Cleverly was offered to us in the summer and we rejected him due to the terms in the loan which required him to be playing regularly, and Pearson felt that he could not guarantee that. Another smart alec...and before I start there's no need to be sarcastic with me. IF you listened more to interviews you would know what you have just said is utter BS!!! But "I'm in the know" DAGGERS just loves to spout shite like a fountain...only its the brown stuff that comes out 9 times out of 10. Anyway, if you listen to Pearson talk on the Cleverley loan deal, you would of heard him say we tried for him, no mention of terms or silly b/s conditions. How on earth would any young player who was sent here expect let alone demand a 1st team place, it just does not happen. So come on "I'm in the know" DAGGERS, lets have your next tasty tip bit...So I can shoot that down as well.... I really dont know what planet some of you so called "in the know" people are on, but if you really want some sort of notoriety, please do us all a favour and go jump of a building, you should make the back pages of the Mercury with that one....The Obituaries.....
