Finnegan Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Ironic how us Walkers Stadium lot are laughing at these. Well if you're going to repeat yourself pointlessly then so am I. No, it is not ironic. Nobody's laughing because they've simply got a commercial stadium name. People are laughing because it's a fucking ridiculous commercial stadium name.
Fosse Boy Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 I'm honestly surprised I haven't heard more Newcastle fans speaking out/taking action about this. If my club had been at the same ground since 1892 and our chairman had sold off the naming rights to his own mongy comapny on a whim, I'm sure there'd probably be mass protests or something...
lavrentis Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Well if you're going to repeat yourself pointlessly then so am I.No, it is not ironic. Nobody's laughing because they've simply got a commercial stadium name. People are laughing because it's a fucking ridiculous commercial stadium name. Yes it is ridiculous, just like ours is. Nothing worth laughing about, feel sorry for them.
James. Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Seeing people post how they're feeling sorry for them is actually funnier than the stadium name (which is pretty funny in itself). Feeling sorry for them?! Mass protests?! What the fuck?! It's a stadium name, and not even a permanent one at that.
dandannieldanok Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Ironic how us Walkers Stadium lot are laughing at these. It's different though, if our stadium was called the "walkerscrisps.com@filbertstreet Stadium", then maybe I'd take your point.

Feeling sorry for them?! Mass protests?! What the fuck?! It's a stadium name, and not even a permanent one at that. Feeling sorry for them is a bit too much, but I'm not really pissing myself over the name. Maybe I need a humour transplant. It's different though, if our stadium was called the "walkerscrisps.com@filbertstreet Stadium", then maybe I'd take your point. Yes that name is shit, but so is ours, Stadium:mk and all of them. Maybe on a different level of shitness at Newcastle and an even bigger at Lavrentis. Excellent contribution. Top post sir.
Samilktray Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 I agree with you Lav, knew the excuses would come out for the Walkers being different. Its not, our stadiums named after a packet of crisps.
Finnegan Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 I agree with you Lav, knew the excuses would come out for the Walkers being different. Its not, our stadiums named after a packet of crisps. You're only bothered because you've got your dick planted firmly up Newcastle's arse (and you've got a fetish for declining to conform to public opinion.) If this had happened to a club everyone loved and had been met with outrage on FT you'd be pissing yourself.
Katy Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Sponsored stadium names are one thing, nobody's laughing at the JJB or the Emirates. But if you don't think sportsdirect.com@stjamespark is ridiculous then there's something massively wrong with you. Agreed.
Samilktray Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Yeah I love Newcastle, Im always declaring my love for them. I have a Newcastle shirt that I bought for the FT 5-a-side and havent seen since. So yeh, my dick is firmly up Newcastles arse. Goooddd oneeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
chrisfox Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 The difference here between our stadium name and their laughing stock stadium name is that ours was named The Walkers Stadium when it was built and not renamed to make some cash.
maddog Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 I The Walkers Stadium name. Walkers have been associated with us for a long time, Leicester has the largest Walkers crisps plant in Europe (i think) so in a way we are supporting a local business. Plus Gary Lineker is a LCFC legend and does the adverts. The Walkers Stadium is about the best name we could have for our stadium, unless we go back to Filbert Street. It's not a selfish brand or just out to make money, it's a good name for the club and them.
jonthefox Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 i would much rather have a shirt sponsor than a stadium sponsor.. walkers, rubbish if you ask me. still, point taken. its better than the tamiflu arena, or something..
Guest Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 I don't mind the Walkers to be honest, I'd rather we were still at Filbert St obviously but as we're known for our fine crisp-making skills it seemed a fairly obvious association. And it's hardly as rubbish as Colchester's new stadium name for example, and absolutely nowhere near as bad as this shambolic effort from Ashley
Simi Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 I agree with you Lav, knew the excuses would come out for the Walkers being different. Its not, our stadiums named after a packet of crisps. It is different, quite clearly different . sportsdirect.com@stjamespark It's an e-mail address mate?!

maddog Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 For fook sake people, our stadium name is good. Liverpool's is named after a hotel http://www.annfieldhousehotel.com/ Arsenal's is name after a plane which is a 100% money making scheme unlike our beloved Walkers, Gary Lineker et al. Chelsea's is named after a bridge and Man Citys is named after Manchester

FilboFox Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 HAHAHA!!! When I read this earlier I was confused... I didn't really understand what they were on about and had to re-read the whole thing again... even then it still took me ages to actually let it sink in that Newcastle are basically playing in a stadium with an email address as its name!!!
Edmund Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 It is different, quite clearly different .sportsdirect.com@stjamespark It's an e-mail address mate?! This is what I was thinking. An e-mail name as a stadium. Ridiculous
