maddog Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 I was just thinking if fans are worried what Sky will do to us if we went up, thinking about it we would have less Premier League games on TV than Championship games on TV. We've already had 3 on Sky with 2 more on the way, and if we continue our rise up the table we will surely get another 4 before the seasons close and possibly 1 on BBC. Less kick offs will be moved for us in the Premier League than if we are in the Championship.
Raj Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 I was wondering when this game would be moved for Sky, I wasn't sure whether BBC would have it, but they have nearly used up their Newcastle quota already.I am glad it isn't a Monday or Friday night game, 5:20pm is much more pleasant a time. And never Mind 15 games, they have already had seven, and with the Middlesbrough and this match, that makes NINE before the end of January... jesus christ my lord. I know its been asked already somewhere, sorry to ask again....Are City scheduled to have any games on BBC???
Ford Super Sunday Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Ahhh you edited it Maddog, you suddenly realised it was our 5th game, not 4th, as you forgot Newcastle away I know its been asked already somewhere, sorry to ask again....Are City scheduled to have any games on BBC??? Basically not yet. BBC have only announced game up till December, which is, shockingly, Newcastle-Boro. Jan-May games won't be known just yet, how they will announce them i'm not sure. Whether they do it month-by-month, which is the most logical going into the latter stage of the season, or whether they announce the next three (Jan-Mar) and then hold April and May back, will remain to be seen. However, if we're still up in this end of the table, and we don't get a game on the BBC, i'll be really surprised and disappointed. I mean come on, even Derby and Forest have been shown this season on the BBC.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Done mind home games being moved to 5 or 6pm its when games are moved days which annoy me.
Hitesh Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 They should just organise the fixture list so all Newcastle games are not at 3PM on a Saturday and just move them to 3PM on a Sat when necessary.

Yeovil Fan Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Come the end of the season Newcastle would have probably had 15+ of their League games on BBC or Sky.I really hope they don't go up. So that they stay down and dominate the live games next season too? Or have I missed something? Edit - Interesting to note that the, er, 'Mighty', League One Leeds United have been on TV 5 times so far this season so if Newcastle go up expect Leeds to dominate TV next year.
Karljohn Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 The 3pm Saturday kick off will be dead in the water in the next five years. As the TV deals get more splintered and complicated, it'll end up with at least half the games in the top two leagues playing on a Sunday, like what they do in European leagues and in sports like the NFL etc. Just like sponsored stadiums, 3 lots of logos & ads on shirts, goal music and the likes of Ian Wright & Les Ferdinand as pundits, we'll just have to get used to it. I envisage Newcastle games being split around the news soon, just like they do with films we've seen a hundred times before. Be a late one for the Geordies on their way back to their [email protected] but not as late as I got back from the away trip, courtesy of fooking sky.
Koke Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Spare a thought for the poor Jawdies who are being dicked around by Murdoch's Empire. 5.20 kick-off is not that bad. At least it isn't a Sunday tea time kick-off like Cardiff-Forest.
Head Honcho Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 I'm sure this will piss off a few people, but for a fox in exile it's fantastic news. Same here. I was pissed off when it was moved for the away game but not too bothered for the home.
Tommeh Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 This was always happening and a 5:20 is the best we could have got. Loaded Dog for Jeff and the boys then onto the game. Still hate the wankers however.
lcfc_jme Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 This was always happening and a 5:20 is the best we could have got. Loaded Dog for Jeff and the boys then onto stay there to watch the game.Still hate the wankers however. To be honest even though it's a home-game they've moved and it won't affect me in the slightest, it's still BS and I've got a lot of sympathy for the travelling Newcastle fans. Sky are the plague.
Matt Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Sky Subscription = Season Ticket for Newcastle. Not overly bothered BUT football is played at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon - Leave it alone Rupert.
CupidStunt Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Basturds, i'm at work Newcastle are on sky a lot, but we cant complain too much as we have had a good showing so far I can see both sides to it with newcastle being on a lot,, and how it might get on some peoples tits On one hand sky see newcastle as a viewing puller, but on the other hand, if i was a supporter of a lesser known club and i pay my sky subs, i have just as much right to watch my team on sky also?
jonthefox Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 does anyone know how much we get for being on sky?
C-man Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Not too bothered... tempted to stay in Sheffield and watch it on Sky if I have imminent exams. Although this news does pretty much end any hope of a sell-out at the Walkers this season.

davieG Posted 7 November 2009 Author Posted 7 November 2009 From Newcastle Vital TV Carve up - yet again It`s that time of the year again where NUFC sees its prospective fixtures sliced and diced to keep the armchair viewers happy. This time around it`s our prospective top two battle with the Baggies and the tricky trip to the Walkers Stadium that have been lifted and shifted to later kick offs. The current spate of changes means the following games are now televised: Sun 20.12.2009 Middlesbrough (h) 1pm (BBC) Mon 23.11.2009 Preston North End (a) 7.45pm (Sky) Sat 26.12.2009 Sheffield Wed (a) 12.45pm (Sky) Mon 28.12.2009 Derby (h) 5.20pm (Sky) Mon 18.01.2010 West Brom (h) 7.45pm (Sky) Sat 30.01.2010 Leicester City (a) 5.20pm (Sky)
Ford Super Sunday Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 So if I have counted correct, those games, plus the ones already shown means they will be been on TV 13 times this season, before the end of January. Now, i'm all for the commercial viability shit, but isn't there a case of severe overkill?
Floating Fox Posted 8 November 2009 Posted 8 November 2009 Hmmm Stay down in plymouth or come home and have a whole days worth of drinking in town. Decisions.
lcfc_jme Posted 8 November 2009 Posted 8 November 2009 Hmmm Stay down in plymouth or come home and have a whole days worth of drinking in town. Decisions. Choose town. Who's hitting the Dog for this bad boy? No point me coming back to Leic if everyone suddenly wants to go to the Walkers..
The Doctor Posted 11 November 2009 Posted 11 November 2009 does anyone know how much we get for being on sky? £10 for each match plus bonuses for goals, red cards, bust ups and other armchair attractions.
