AjcW Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 . Let the games begin. Im going to say 10 pages of unnecessary abuse towards sky etc etc.

Tilley Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Im going to say 10 pages of unnecessary abuse towards sky etc etc. Don't really bother me to be honest, I could see why Newcastle fans minght be a tad annoyed but we've not exactly been bad on tele this season have we.
maddog Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Come the end of the season Newcastle would have probably had 15+ of their League games on BBC or Sky. I really hope they don't go up.
Fosse Boy Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Come the end of the season Newcastle would have probably had 15+ of their League games on BBC or Sky.I really hope they don't go up. Why? Because the TV companies have dicked their fans around all season? Ridiculous reasoning.
SMX11 Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Another Newcastle game on Sky wtf is good about Newcastle??????
Corky Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 When I saw the title I feared it would've been Monday night, so moving it back a couple of hours isn't too bad for me
Shrenchel Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Sky's purpose is to make as much money as possible from advertising/subscriptions. Newcastle have got the biggst fanbase/amount of neutrals ineterested in them in the championship. They're gunna get the most games. If anyone still thinks Sky is some kind of vanguard of egalitarian principles in football then youre a disabled whose spent too much time wanking over one of their cringeworthy 'we're doing it for the fans' adverts. The way the BBC are rimming Newcastle is a bit off though.
lavrentis Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Sky love us, its obvious now that we are getting promoted as they are just getting all the practice in on all the TV we will be in when we are in the Premier League.
Joe. Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Well this is kind of good for me really, I can actually watch it now. There are an odd number of Newcastle fans down here, so there should be a decent wedge of banter in the S.U.
Guest Bilo Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Extra time in the pub is good but I would understand if Newcastle fans were beginning to get a bit pissed off with the situation as it is. They have decent travelling support but that hasn't been made easy at all by the fact that the BBC and Sky seem intent on showing each and every Newcastle game against any club that can in any way be defined as 'big.' This means they've shown both City-Newcastle games now, a bizarre decision given that we don't give a shit about each other, the press seems to think that Newcastle will walk the league and we're just lucky to be in the playoffs. The only time that such a situation should be allowed to happen is if it's a major rivalry or local derby, otherwise they're just dumping on the fans from a great height. Sky good for the fans? It'd be funny if it wasn't so insulting.
maddog Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Why? Because the TV companies have dicked their fans around all season? Ridiculous reasoning. No because the TV companies are building them up to be Championship gods, certainties for promotion so are constantly showing them on TV.
iancognito Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 The 3pm Saturday kick off will be dead in the water in the next five years. As the TV deals get more splintered and complicated, it'll end up with at least half the games in the top two leagues playing on a Sunday, like what they do in European leagues and in sports like the NFL etc. Just like sponsored stadiums, 3 lots of logos & ads on shirts, goal music and the likes of Ian Wright & Les Ferdinand as pundits, we'll just have to get used to it.
StanSP Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 :laugh:Don't really bother me to be honest, I could see why Newcastle fans minght be a tad annoyed but we've not exactly been bad on tele this season have we. Doesn't really affect me either. I wasn't on planning on going anyway, so being able to watch us again is good
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 I'm just wondering, as I was only a kid who didn't go to many matches at the time, did anyone actually mind Central moving a fair few of our games each season in to a Sunday afternoon for The Central Match Live in the mid-90s? I don't remember it being a big deal at the time, and as someone who only went to a few select fixtures, before becoming a STH the next season, it allowed me to see some of the top moments of that season. Kalac trying his hardest to mess up West Brom away, a spirited local derby at the Baseball Ground, City 3-2 Norwich, and of course Izzet's winner at Vicarage Road. Or did it just cause as much hassle and annoyance as Sky do today?
Scow Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Another one of those messy five hour pre-match sessions in the pub.
Bert Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Meh. Not overly bothered, it'd be different if it was on a Monday night, but it's only being played 2 hours later. We'd still be at the game on the Saturday anyway, and it doesn't really affect the majority to be fair.

I remember it used to piss my Dad off because Saturday was for footy and Sunday for other things, but as a kid I didn't care it just meant I got to watch it again on video when we got back from the match. As for the 3 o'clock kick off debate, in Spain they show every game on T.V. either on the Digital pay channels or the normal channels as featured games, or if they are at the normal kick off time they are shown on the local T.V. channels. They also show EPL games, pretty much every Liverpool game, which is great for the part time fan, but it does effect attendances. There are virtually no away fans and even a team like Valencia don't sell out the ground. On the plus side it means I can go and watch a game for 20 euros and buy the ticket outside the ground before kick off.
Shrenchel Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 I don't think you can blame away attendances on the telly. English and German fans still travel in their thousands when their game is on the box. In that respect Spanish (and to a slightly lesser extent Italian) fans just really are shit imo. When I was watching Rayo there was only about two clubs all season whose away fans couldn't have all shared a taxi. Piss poor when you think of the numbers clubs in our second division take on the road.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 I was wondering when this game would be moved for Sky, I wasn't sure whether BBC would have it, but they have nearly used up their Newcastle quota already. I am glad it isn't a Monday or Friday night game, 5:20pm is much more pleasant a time. And never Mind 15 games, they have already had seven, and with the Middlesbrough and this match, that makes NINE before the end of January... jesus christ my lord.
lildave3 Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 What the fook, piss off putting Newcastle on Sky! Had enough of them. Every bloody week just about.
