Matt Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Shortlist: -Jenson Button -Mark Cavendish -Tom Daley -Jessica Ennis -Ryan Giggs -David Haye -Phillips Idowu -Andy Murray -Andrew Strauss -Beth Tweddle So who do you want to win? Who do you predict will win? This is what I want; Winner - David Haye. 2nd - Jenson Button. 3rd - Andrew Strauss. This is what I predict; Winner - Jenson Button. 2nd - David Haye. 3rd - Andrew Strauss. My prediction will probably be way out though.
lildave3 Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Well it's obviously Haye or Button, and hopefully Haye.
StanSP Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Ryan Giggs And what has Tom Daley done this year?!
lildave3 Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Oh and i'm absolutely sick of this Ryan Giggs jizzfest.
Matt Posted 30 November 2009 Author Posted 30 November 2009 Ryan Giggs And what has Tom Daley done this year?! He did win something not sure what, but I remember a big thing about his dad embarrassing him in some press conference - Not sure what it all was though Odds; Jenson Button - 4/7 Jessica Ennis - 4/1 David Haye - 6/1 Andrew Strauss - 12/1 Ryan Giggs - 20/1 Beth Tweddle - 33/1 Andy Murray - 50/1 Tom Daley - 50/1 Phillips Idowu - 66/1 Mark Cavendish - 66/1
StanSP Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 He did win something not sure what, but I remember a big thing about his dad embarrassing him in some press conference - Not sure what it all was though Yeah I remember that. But one thing all year and he gets a nomination?
Jimothy Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 David Haye for me. Not a massive boxing fan but what he has acheived is amazing and he actually has a personality. He come across as quite intelligent, which is rare with boxers. If Button wins it I will be really pissed off. After Lewis missed out in the previous two year, first year after coming within a point of winning the title in his debut season and last year after winning the title, it will be a joke if Jenson gets it.
Fox You Forest Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Ryan Giggs And what has Tom Daley done this year?! Won gold at the World Championships.
Matt Posted 30 November 2009 Author Posted 30 November 2009 Yeah I remember that. But one thing all year and he gets a nomination? Well lets be honest apart from the F1, Ashes, Boxing (I only name the Haye as i'm a fan of the sport) it hasn't been a huge year for British sport has it, I'd struggle to name 10 British sportspeople to put up for an award I think.
dandannieldanok Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Would absolutely love to see Mark Cavendish win it, will never happen though.
Jimothy Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Ryan Giggs And what has Tom Daley done this year?! Tom Daley is World Champion. And at 15, so some acheivement really Oh and i'm absolutely sick of this Ryan Giggs jizzfest. Agreed. Was a great player. But whats with all this giving awards retrospectively for previous career acheivements. What next Cliff Richard winning best male artist at the BRITS?
Edmund Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Strauss for me. Anyone who manages to win the ashes with an average England squad deserves it.
Samilktray Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Amir Khan?David Haye? Didnt see David Haye was nominated. But still Amir Khan, as deserving as any of them.
Fox92 Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Shortlist:-Jenson Button -Mark Cavendish -Tom Daley -Jessica Ennis -Ryan Giggs -David Haye -Phillips Idowu -Andy Murray -Andrew Strauss -Beth Tweddle I have only ever heard of the ones in bold, so I'll go with Andy Murray who I want to win. I like him
Simi Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Looking forward to the "Andy Murray has no personality, how is he nominated" debate.
Webbo Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 It's between David Haye and Jensen Button for me and seeing as the BBC cover F1 and hardly any boxing I reckon it'll be Button.
Matt Posted 30 November 2009 Author Posted 30 November 2009 It's between David Haye and Jensen Button for me and seeing as the BBC cover F1 and hardly any boxing I reckon it'll be Button. Isn't it a phone vote?
Webbo Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Isn't it a phone vote? Phone or internet or something like that.
StanSP Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Fair enough about Daley. Button to win I guess.
Super_horns Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Phone or internet or something like that. It is a public vote although some press might have you thinking the BBC make it all very bias to suit a sport they show...despite the fact in previous years Jonny Wilkinson and Freddie Flintoff have won it for achievements in events NOT shown on the BBC.
Webbo Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 It is a public vote although some press might have you thinking the BBC make it all very bias to suit a sport they show...despite the fact in previous years Jonny Wilkinson and Freddie Flintoff have won it for achievements in events NOT shown on the BBC. Whether intentional or not the voters are bound to be BBC viewers and as such are likely to be more exposed to sports covered by the BBC. Pay per view means that lots of people never get to see boxing and don't really know a lot about boxers.
