ob1kanobe0 Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 About bloody time a 'mainstream' party proposes this France has a similar ban; about time we have the same. A different mainstream party debated this policy 2 years ago at their party conference and adopted a motion calling for the banning of the burka from public view in Britain. This is a case of the media bigging up EUkip to take votes off them. It must be a vote winning policy.

lou Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 Can we just get one thing straight... UKIP are not a mainstream party! Surely?
Koke Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 Damn I missed that one What you gonna do - buy her a burka? On another note, why is Finnegan suddenly yellow?
ob1kanobe0 Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 Can we just get one thing straight... UKIP are not a mainstream party! Surely? I suppose its a case of personal definition/interpretation. I forgot to mention, i don't mind people wearing a Burka, i also agree that someone should be allowed to discriminate against people, like banks discriminate against people wearing helmets in their shops, discrimination can be a great thing.
AoWW Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 You could try one of these? Pfft, I tried one of those - it still didn't give me a cleavage and I was forced to partake in worthwhile/informative conversations at Parent's Evenings. All very frustrating.

Ford Super Sunday Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 Haha - no chance. I didn't mean public, PM them to me sugar, it'll be our little (dirty) secret
Finnegan Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 Not entirely sure but I'm guessing mods have been made Yellow as opposed to Green to make it a bit more "LCFC"ish. Dunno, though. Still a mod.

Finnegan Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 World domination next, go you. Gotta my little continent down in the purples, it's that big step into Asia next! Always tricky.
MPH Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 Gotta my little continent down in the purples, it's that big step into Asia next! Always tricky. my favourite game.....
Finnegan Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 my favourite game..... Classic way to turn any family gathering into brutal hate. I think it probably inspires more rage than monopoly. Ah, memories.
Daggers Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 Classic way to turn any family gathering into brutal hate. It was Goel Ratzon's favourite way to spend the evening.
Bryn Posted 19 January 2010 Posted 19 January 2010 A woman forced to wear a niqab is a disgusting thing. Those women who are forced must be reached out to by a Government who intends to properly include these people in society. They must know that they do not have to wear those hideous things, that they have the right to the same freedom as Western women. But a ban? I saw an article titled "The burka is ugly, but not as ugly as a ban". That's spot on. Since when did this country start forbidding people wearing anything? Furthermore, who do you police? The women? If the education is there to spread the message that they do not have to wear those terrible symbols of oppression, and they choose to, can you punish them? If they are forced to by their men, do you still arrest the women, humiliating them, forcing them to do as they are told? Or do you go after the men? Can you punish the men for the woman wearing something? Can you prove the men forced them? Inane idea from a party which will never earn the right to govern this country. Communication, education and understanding remain the way to address these issues. I would advocate a challenging level of education on the subject for young girls and a public campaign highlighting that such garments are not necessary here and that forcing a woman to hide is wrong.

Ah, memories. there are many a times i have nearly thrown the board and its pieces, and all other players out of the window.... the feeling of utter despair and helplessness of losing a 9-1 battle will stick with me a long time.... its like gambling.... it got down to 4-1 and i just couldnt stop myself... Yet the satisfaction of knowing you are emerging as the strongest taking over the world... it cant be matched in any other game... aaaand im going to stop now as im beginning to look like a saddo.
Finnegan Posted 19 January 2010 Posted 19 January 2010 aaaand im going to stop now as im beginning to look like a saddo. I think that happened as soon as you acknowledged I'd made a Risk joke.

Finnegan Posted 19 January 2010 Posted 19 January 2010 After you've taken over Asia, you'll be doing stand-up in China town. I find my jokes don't really translate so well into Mandarin.

This pretty much sums up my views on the issue generally. But you don't touch on whether they should allowed to be worn in banks, airports, public buildings and the like. I don't really have any issues with the security side of things as they aren't currently being used as a tool by terrorists but In the workplace I'd say I'm probably against it.

Genuine question here... wonder if anyone knows or have been in the line behind people who where the niqab ... when at an airport do they remove them to reveal their face? im assuming they do of course but would be interested to know if anyone saw this kind of thing happen...
MPH Posted 19 January 2010 Posted 19 January 2010 I think that happened as soon as you acknowledged I'd made a Risk joke. FYI there is actually a very good version of Risk on facebook. called Attack!. Few bugs but that's to be expected with anything Zynga really...
