Cadbury Sold

Well Kraft bought the company that makes the Terry's Chocolate Orange and although I haven't had one for a while, I've been told the quality has seriously gone down since the takeover by someone who loves (loved) them.

With evidence like that I'm surprised no one's put a stop to this buy out.

And they forgot to say anything about the decline in Terry's Fruit Jellies as well.

I wonder if the Chocolate will taste differently :P

I was just saying what I've been told... I wasn't saying it was indicative of what would happen, just pointing out what someone thinks.

I had some Terry's Chocolate Orange recently and it tasted exactly the fucking same. Like orange flavoured chocolate mostly.

As such I am fully supportive of the takeover.

Pathetic.

There was no reason to sell Cadbury as it's a profitable business that has nothing to gain from selling to debt ridden Kraft Foods. Not only does a great British company now become American but it is also going to mean job losses as Kraft looks to pay off the debt that this acquisition and other business dealings have led to. As the Cadbury head said, Kraft is a lesser company, so why sell? Greed? Surely the only possible reason for selling is the money and it is awful to think that people could just disregard the hard workers here and the history of this company just for a quick buck... they said £10 billion was derisory yet only £1.5 billion more is a good deal?

Cadbury PLC: 1824-2010

Ermmmm - the people who have the say, i.e. the shareholders get a nice chunk of money I'm sure thats a good enough reason for them.

What I am amazed by is the fact that Kraft are to be allowed to lend the amount of moeny they need to in order to make the purchase. It's almost as if banks have not learned? This could be a serious own goal by Kraft if the takeover doesn't prove to be as profitable as it hopes as the servicing on the debt will be huge.

Expect £2 choccies soon! (The little ones)

I shall be ringing Kraft first thing next week to ask em to bring these back

A chocolate bar that doubles up as a straw, genius!

If theres a God, the chocolate will stay exactly the same.

Yep, if there is a god I'm sure that's what he/she/it will be focussing on this week

It would certainly create some badly needed good-God PR.

I am sure Mandelson will do what he can for his people

I really dont see what all the fuss is about. Cadburys only have 20% coco content.

Theyre not going to change their whole production process/recipes just because theyres been a takeover.... costs too much to change anything

I am sure all the whingers have made it thheir life's mission to reject all the other products which used to be made in the UK and which they can now buy in Tesco for pennies due to them being made in China? No? Quite like the low prices of everything from a plastic spoon to a new TV? Hmm? The only way this will be reversed is if the consumer makes the choice to buy local.

Ha ha - its the RBS who's lending the 7 billion - another fine decision by the top brass (ok part of the 7 billion but still)
