maybe it was the lol that made his comment stand out as negative? what do u rekon?

Maybe it was.

Maybe because I find it fucking ridiculous that some idiots would risk getting banned from football or a fine or whatever to put a bit of light in a football stand with a flare.

It doesn't increase the atmosphere, atmosphere is people standing up, jumping about, singing - not a flare.

So yeah, the lol did make the comment stand out as a negative because I was ridiculing the utter ****** that would take a flare to a game knowing the consequences if caught because it apparently makes the atmosphere so good for about 5 seconds until it is put out.

This, and the previous post which is being argued about, is very much my sentiment on the matter.

I suppose one could sit behind their computer & judge others who are willing to act for the better of the day for those & other like minded fans, of whom there is obviously lots in this country & abroad.

FT used to be a cool place where your views on LCFC or what ever could be expressed. Recently this forum has been overrun with opinions which are negative towards posts & opinions, my advice is too let it be, this forum on the scheme of things = life really is not that important & your negative judgement of a situation, action or view point really is very tedious, so shut up & do something other than find pleasure in pointing out your pointless opinion(s) on something which other members are passionate about

Sorry, Tom, but surely Tilley was just voicing his opinion - you're the one arguing for freedom of expression but then berating him for having a 'negative' opinion because, presumably, it's not the same as yours. As far as I'm aware, nowhere does it say that opinions on this forum have to be congratulatory, patting other's on the back., or 'ooh-ing and ahh-ing' over some firework.

In the greater scheme of things, personally, I don't see one flare as that big a deal and I tend to agree with Tilley that to risk being fined or banned from watching the game we love purely to light one flare is a tad daft. But each to their own - if other's want to run that risk it's down to them. Implying it was some chivalrous act 'for the greater good' of the game and the fans, though, seems a little over the top.

Are you indirectly saying that (that person who supposedly did it!) is daft?

Directly, I'd say.

Although, unlike some, I'm not daft enough to state who (supposedly) did it on a public forum.

Everyone moaning about the flare didn't even go blackpool ...

Seems to be the pattern yes.

Only people who were there can comment whether it improved the atmosphere, I was and believe me, it did.

It was different and innovative to the norm away scene, I'm just thankful our man has has got away with it, unlike the Man United and Blackpool guy's.

I was at Blackpool and whilst not moaning about it I didn't think it was the best thing since sliced bread as some do.

Do you just say whatever will make your cock look an inch bigger?! I couldn't go this season but unless you spend the entire game on your iphone neither did you. You were in the match thread having a pop at the lads the let the flare off. Now everyone else is onside, youre sucking their dongs and deriding others for not being at the match?! Sort your life out you goon.

does this work ?

I've tried many things so I'd be prepared to give it a go

I was about 20 feet away but certainly close enough to have a valid opinion on whether I thought it did anything for the atmos or not.

In 2010 the football is not what it was, not what I remember as an enjoyable pastime. The flare really is insignificant, if anything it is a symbol against the modern football culture at games in this country. To see this as just a flare to sing a song to create atmosphere is missing the point. You are not allowed to stand, but many do. You are not allowed flares but it is happening. There is a feeling (even if it is a small minority) and action is being taken to recapture the old excitement.

The real "****** or idiots" as you call them will link these opinions & actions with hooliganism and suggest that it is bad for the game. In reality it has nothing to do with the game, its in the stands, but really it is in the hearts & minds of those who carry the passion for the past type of atmosphere.

The point is if I did get ejected from the match for this or anything resembling fun to me & given a suspension then so be it, what exactly have I lost? The opportunity to attend something which is becoming so dour, with out any real excitement, in fact the possibility of not attending possibly is a gift? Maybe I will save my £20 per game have some beers & listen to Jeff Stelling.

To be ejected would be the end for me, it would mean that what I remember is dead, the future of this type of football attending has no appeal to me & some others so lets admit defeat in that scenario. Maybe a flare is the last throw of the dice? It probably is for me.

3 Ipswich got nicked at Peterborough as well.

Seems like the Police are intent on nipping this in the bud early on. Doesn't appear to be working, yet.

Agree with every word of this.

I don't understand why everyone is getting so worked up over it still though to be fair
