Humberstone Lane. On the bend, used to a store called PJ's.

It's just outside Thurmaston really, in the kind of no mans land between the top of Colby Drive and the Industrial Estate.

Theyll make a lot of money being there, all the people who dont fancy going to Tesco or Asda cus they dont want much will go there, and then being on the edge of the industrial estate will be a nice little earner for them. Tescos did there research on this 1.

i try and use my local store more often than not, but they do take the piss a bit with some of the prices. when you're paying 50p-£1 more for stuff you have to say, hold on a minute.

Syston Somerfield is going to be a Tesco as well.

We're also getting a Greggs and an Italian restaurant.

Syston - Going places.

that place seems to've been shutting down for the last 10 years!

New 1 in Thurmaston too, opens April I think.

Asda has the upperhand where it comes to fittys shopping there, me and my mates often fuck off down Asda for a good old perv and a sandwich.

where abouts?

I've heard we're getting another Indian Restaurant as well.

Another, be interesting. You know where?

I know Corner House is going to be an Italian, no idea where Greggs will go.

In the old Sketchlys. According to the wife anyway.

Greggs is in the dolls house shop near Help the Aged.

Both of the Indians in Syston are shit, so lets hope the new 1 raises the standard!

There's 3 if you count the Red Rose. Now that really is shit.

Never been to Red Rose or whatever the other is called but Spice has gone really down hill, got the chance to go tonight, doubt I'll bother.

Just beyond is Tesco Hamilton so it kinda proves my point....

Rumoured that Tesco are also opening up a petrol station on the site of the Royal British Legion next to the Somerfield store they're taking over in Syston. I can't really see it myself.

Aparently Wetherspoons were after that but the other pubs in Syston objected.(I don't know were all these rumours come from)

Is it? :( I used to work on the Deli there. I remember when it was Kwik save!

It's weird, I know this thread is based on Tescos in Leicester but in Grantham there's one small one on the outskirts and that's it. We have Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, Asda, Farmfoods and Sainsbury's but no Tescos. Explain that haha!

Tesco reps must have tried to drive into Grantham the last time I tried! Talk about the journey from hell. :D

Tesco has become my new home.

I'm sure i mentioned in another thread about the 2 hot East European lesbians making out outside the one near Haymarket.

I signed up for a club card after that.

I've just been into to my local Tesco's and asked where their value porn range was - after some repeating, funny looks and humilation I left <_< . Ah well I'll just go to the other one in the other direction i guess (and ask for the porn).

it goes beyond that, it's culture killing, the likes of Tesco and Walmart are moving to all areas of the world (india, china), and nations where markets and stalls offer so much will be competing with mass produced convenience goods that these chains provide!!! So sad!!!

Just the point was going to make. When I went Poland, they had monopolised the city with it's chain. When the curtain went down on the Eastern Bloc, suddenly there was open plain for corporations to muscle in which they have done. This basically means independent shops within these cities could never take advantage of no longer having Eastern tule.

I don't agree with it all. Their buying of land etc. is far too much...my opinion on them is much like Sky. They have far too much of 'pie' to encourage a healthy market for us consumers. That said, you just find yourselves using them. As I said I don't really agree with it....it kills indiviualism and uniqueness of towns.
