davieG Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Leicester City are not for sale – but owner Milan Mandaric has said he would welcome an investor to join him as a partner. The City chairman said he was not actively trying to sell the club he took over just over three years ago. However, Mandaric would love to attract someone who could invest in City and ease the financial burden on him. Mandaric has revealed he is again going to cover the shortfall when City announce annual loses of at least £5million in the next few weeks, and an investor who can help his dream of getting City back into the Premier League would be made welcome. The 71-year-old said it was inevitable that he would eventually sell the club, but only to the right person and he promised to make sure the investor was suitable for City. "It is not for sale but it is open to a partnership," he said. "Not to take over the whole club, just someone who I can lean on, work with and eventually whatever happens after that we will see. If we get promoted then I will have a new set of worries, with the business of stabilising us in the Premier League. "The first year is crucial and bringing someone in would be a secondary concern. "But if that person or persons turn up and we can see they are fit and proper, then we will worry about it at that time. "It is not my priority now but eventually it will happen. I said that when I first arrived. I am here for a certain time. "The club was here before me for 125 years and it will be here after me for another 125 years, I am sure. "I just want to be a small segment of the rich history of this club, and do things right. "Meanwhile, there is a lot of work to be done. This is my third year and I promised people I would improve the stability and quality at the club, and get into the Premier League. That is what my mission is right now. "I haven't finished it, but we are close this season. "There are only 13 games and just over two months to go, and we have got a great opportunity." Guest DavidJCW Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 The more Mandaric released about the financial state of the club, the more it seems getting to the Premiership this season is what he's relying on...
Jon the Hat Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I have to say, it would be an incredible achievement if he actually achieved his 3 year plan to get us into the Premier League. Who would have thought it in the first year.
FoxyPV Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 this could be seen as a good thing. MM has made no bones about wanting to sell soon enough and by doing this he can vet the next potential owner by working alongside them for a couple of years. If they turn out to be numpties then i dare say he will keep overall control to stop them ruining the club.
Corky Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 As long as they have the best interests of the club at heart, such as a supporter (we've got a couple of very wealthy fans haven't we?) then I see no real problem.
Hitesh Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Milan is going for a try before you buy situation - reel them in with some investment and see how serious they really are and if he likes them then he will look to sell to them. Otherwise he'll shove them aside and move on to the next one. Would be good to get some investment coming in but can't see too many people having much interest until we are in the PL.
foxoffderby Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Im willing to give MM a chance. He made some bad choices when he first arrived that coupled with the shambles of the previous owners meant he simply couldn't turn it round and we got relegated. Since then hes got us back up, despite his bad choices as managers lets not forget Pearson is a MM appointment and 90% of us are very happy with what hes achived with limited resources available. Taking about resources I do think if we had not had a Worldwide recession he would of spent a lot more on transfer fees. But he just like the rest of us, have had to cut our cloth accordingley. MM is 71 years old and hes still has a passion for the game and this club. Hes doing the right thing he knows he won't be around forever and is looking at new investment from abroad. I know that is worring with whats happened with Pompey in recent months but what choice does he have? I don't know many Oligarchs (s) living in Birstall or Billionaires from Braunstone willing to put their hard earned, into a football club. So you look abroad. He's asking for a partner to come in who he will mentor and explain how to run a football club and explain the culture of the club, and then takeover maybe once he has got us to the premier league as promised. The money in the game simpley isn't there anymore and hes just asking for a little help in these tough times. Good luck to him.
dave_the_fox Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Why he doesn't go onto Dragons Den i'll never know!

So you look abroad. Just me who'd rather we keep away from dodgy Russian arms dealers and Romanian chemical weapons suppliers then? What's wrong with us being a community club with a large fan shareholding, living within our means and guaranteeing our future...however that impacts on League position? What's wrong with a future where football doesn't have shitehawk foreign investors trying to milk every penny they can out of the game? I don't want a billionaire - I'd rather us adopt the German model.
Fox You Forest Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I'd rather us adopt the German model. I'd need to know specifics, how old is she and what does she look like?

MPH Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Potential investers at the club yesterday, a frenchie, one from hong kong two from USA and two from Singapore apparently i can deal with having an owner from any country in the world....... but french?!?!? we'll get 7 Yann Kermogrants free transfers in.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Serge Gainsbourg would be a brilliant owner. What a shame he's dead
lildave3 Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Was speaking to a Polish guy at work today about that chap from Polonia that was apparently interested in taking us over. He's mad apparently, goes through 5 managers a season and just outs anyone that disagrees with him. Apparently one manager came in, won 5 on the bounce, then lost to their rivals and he was sacked!

Definitely agree with these sentiments. but the concept of fan ownership is still really quite alien in England (bar a few non-league and lower league clubs). With the amount of foreign interest in clubs in the top divisions there's not a chance that a fan consortium could compete with any potential private investor. Adopting something similar to the German 50+1 rule would be an absolute dream for me.

The Foxes trust were fans who tried to buy a stake in the club and all they get is a slagging off every time they post on here.
